  1. Selling Mack would be a drop in the bucket compared to this.
  2. Mack/Oskosh-Would have to establish coast to coast outlets Mack/Cat-They just dumped the engine and truck business Mack/Deere-Have Tier III engines and a dealer network Mack/Ford-Dealer network and ford could get back in with the big boys Mack/GM-same as Ford Mack/Paccar-Too much overlap of models Mack/Navistar-Model overlap but could follow the Paccar model Mack/Volvo-Mack needs more independence
  3. Scania and Mack have a long history. It would be nice to keep it going. I can't see how VW would get entry into the US market. All of the Volvo/Mack outlets would probably be kept by Volvo. May bee they could use the Navistar outlets. It would be nice if Mack had some autonomy.
  4. Interesting grill also I see a nice value liner on the right also
  5. Daily Diesel or any member was there a different sound between a 673 and a 711?
  6. If you look at the David Faust pictures of the Transcon U-models (ex Wilson Freight U's with 903's) they clearly are U-600's. After the founding brothers of St.Johnsbury sold out to Sun Oil the frieghtliners from a west coast buyout showed up in the St J fleet. Sun Oil also bought out Jones motor lines from South Carolina. I believe this is where the IH 2500 and Ford L9000 influence in the fleet came from. There last big purchase was Ford 9000's. There were a few R models in the fleet alsobut they may have been test tractors. It would have been neat if they had more R models . St. J went from L models to B models and then U models. After that IH's and fords. Dave 41's picture of the U could have been 903 powered or 673 inline. Also as I remember the 903 U's had downward exhaust(smoke eaters). If you view the transcon U's with 903's they are also downward exhausts.
  7. Agree KS but I would change the grill somewhat
  8. That's a good question R Horse. I don't believe they were U700's The ones I remember seeing were low hoods (600's) The Cummins 903 was a 90 degree V-8. The Detroits were 60 degree v-8's plus they had the supercharger up top Thus the Cummins was lower profile I believe
  9. St Johnsbury had a lot of tandem U models with Cummins 903's
  10. Not only is the Navistar board of directors letting VW kick them in the teeth but Navistar will be kicking Cummins in the teeth as well. The old Europe Royal money is steam rolling America.
  11. Superdog what does your fleet consist of? I see some stars and a CL
  12. 5700 is a good looking truck for sure
  13. Doesn't make sense that they would use 3 UI's and 3 common rails injectors. Sounds like a test project using the customers as guinae pigs.
  14. I can't believe they they don't use Mack MHD's LOL
  15. Are those Schwinn butt cycles
  16. Global warming an excuse for the first ever global tax to save the planet.
  17. Way to go Navistar board of directors. You just let the rattlesnake in the mouse house. Are you people to dumb to see the historical implications of Europe gobbling up US industries. I think not. You are just purposefully carrying out your new world order plans. Old Europe Royalty money in action.
  18. Pretty clever rollout with their customer colors and logos. Looks pretty slippery. Front profile not bad. Side profile not so good IMHO. Interior plastic masterpiece if you like plastic.
  19. KS I am on board with USPS buying American. Yes milkman that Iveco is a good looking vehicle. It kind of has the general shape of a Volvo VN but much better. That would be a good start for the Mack new cab. By the way where is the new Mack cab. Probably the same place as the US Superliner/Trident, forward mixer, E-9, Titan sleepers, Cummins diesel option, etc. etc.
  20. I'll take the looks of an MH any day. Just can't coddle up to the Europeon designs.
  21. I believe the proposed MP8 TC is slated to be 540-550 HP
  22. Phew,That was a close one, I thought it was going to be Iveco taking over Navistar.
