  1. Not sure, but I don't think this is California certified.
  2. Now Vinney, I know this isn't a U model, but I think a flame job like this would really look cool on yours!!!
  3. Seems like mechanical Macks always performed better than what they were rated. But then again factory settings were merely suggestions and were sometimes soon forgotten.
  4. Pictures Rob!!! Don't forget pictures.
  5. When you do your research, it was the Mack B models that led in the switch from gasoline to diesel power in the trucking industry, and I was always impressed by the fact that even though there were many more truck makers than there are now, there were years during the B model run that Mack had over 50% of the truck business in the US.!!!
  6. Haven't you guys ever seen a stool bus?
  7. Kind of a shame that the CL was such a short run. Mack had that pretty much right right out of the box. When the Signature 600 Cummins became available, you had a real sensible high horsepower heavy hauler with a ride like a pickup truck. I think the Titan is cool for extreme heavy haul, but for most 7 or 8 axle work, its just too big.
  8. What I did was start off in 2nd / low, instead of giong into 1st, so the shift from 2nd low to second direct was an easy straight line shift, from there on just used the main, I didn't do the math, but I'm not sure that would work with a 1071, because the 2nd/low ratio may actually be lower than 1st direct.
  9. I think the concept is believable, whether they can actually deliver or not remains to be seen. Several years ago there was a little clip in Bulldog Magazine about an O/O that was getting big horsepower (maybe 700?) out of electronic Mack, ( I don't remember which version) and at the time some in the Mack inner circle thought it was a misprint, but after a couple calls to engineering, they did confirm it was possible. I'm sorry I don't remember more about that, but I think it's completely believable. I talked to a heavy hauler awhile back running an 06 Pete, C16 with a Pittsburgh power box, and he thought it was doing something better than 700 hp.
  10. Thats what I'm talking about, what shift sequence that may work with the 107 version is not going to work with the 1071.
  11. I'm thinking there's more than one version of that six speed, the difference being one has a much lower compound low & reverse. Sounds like that is what he has.
  12. I don't mean to hyjack Vinny's thread, but, no Gerhart doesn't use the LM. We keep hoping he does something with it, but every year it deteriorates a little more. On the U model, that's a pretty cool little tractor, kind of unusual because of the disc wheels and the Roadranger (15 spd?) transmission. It runs, but it smokes pretty bad. Sounds sweet.
  13. Got a never used 2008 Rogers Ultima, 50T, 24' X 8'6" deck, air ride, 4th axle prep, (no axle). Never titled, $69,900 includes Federal Excise Tax.
  14. They are long gone out of the Mack system, but I think Barry at Watts Mack got some made again.
  15. That tag should be on the door jamb. The only other place you would find that information is to contact the Mack museum and request a copy of the builders record. It should give a GVWR rating, and if it was built as a tractor, a GCWR rating. If your truck is a tractor, the fifth wheel was probably not done at the factory, it was likely done by the dealer. Whoever installed the fifth wheel should have supplied the sticker, sometimes referred as a certification sticker, or as a second stage MSO.
  16. 2003 Should be E-Tech engine. That's good. For diagnostic trouble shooting, a good Mack dealer is the best choice. There may be open campaigns or available updates that can make a big difference. It sounds like program issues to me.
  17. Nice one comming up at Petrowsky auction at Florham Park, March 9th.
  18. In addition to what's already been stated, the CL had a 10" longer hood to accomidate the E9 and vendor engines, and it offered higher rated front and rear axles.
  19. Those numbers should be readily avalable just by looking at the rears themselves. Assuming these are Mack axles, the axle model number should be on the rear of the lower housing, in the area of the check plug. For 1993, the number of the axle model will also be the rating. You'll find the ratio on the front of the upper housing, on a flat spot just to the left of the input shaft.
  20. An A54 on disc wheels, you don't see that often.
  21. RE rear axle info, looking at the back of the truck, in the area of the check plug on the lower rear housing, there should be numbers stamped in the housing, probably beginning with "SW", post them and I'll look them up for you. Those are much nicer trucks than you looked at at Gerharts, you're much better off. Dave
  22. They sure would. They look to be gov't surplus, I hope they don't go overseas.
