  1. Next time it won't start, check to see if it has a primer pump on it, it should have one. Pump it severat times or until you notice a change in the resistance. Then try to start it. There's no way it should require ether. I suspect your problem has to do with loosing it's fuel prime.
  2. I believe that is a U734 or 37ST (Super 250 Cummins) chassis # 1043. Roger keeps it hidden because it's so ugly, and he's afraid it might fall on someone.
  3. I had posted some lodging suggestions earlier http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/26198-gerharts-mack-days-2012-october-56/
  4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-Mack-Truck-Gas-Engine-Model-/300778513995?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4607cbe64b
  5. I watched the last auction in Northeast Maryland on the computor here awhile back, seemed like prices were down this time. A clean 94 CH day cab tractor with 130 some thousand miles on went for 11K, two 99 CH sleepers went for 7K each. And ya, watch out for that buyers premium.
  6. If somebody else posted this, sorry, if not here it is. Seems like there should be some buzz about it, especially being an ex FDNY truck. Somebody told me today it was sitting at Wengers in Myerstown, don't know if it is this truck or another. http://lancaster.craigslist.org/cto/3190555738.html
  7. I like Pedrobilts Peterbilts, every time I see some thing like this, I'm so glad the guy didn't do it to a Mack!!!!! Thank you for choosing Peterbilt! When I was selling Macks, and a customer asked me what kind of truck I would buy, I always told them it depended on what the reason was they wanted a truck - if it was to make money, then buy a Mack, but if it was for some other purpose, then buy something else.
  8. A value for insurance purposes may be different than a "fair market" value. For insurance purposes, what you have in a vehicle may be a legitamate (replacement) value. On the other hand, a fair market value can be considerably different, being a transaction between a willing seller and a willing buyer. Your $3,500 value for this purpose seems reasonable, typically appraised values for this purpose are higher, not necessarily a market value. In the end, if you suffer a loss, the insurance company will pay whatever they want anyway.
  9. Warning points may be in order here!!!!
  10. Like everything else there, things don't run on much of a precise schedule, seems like maybe around 6 o'clock or so till the clambake is ready to serve. Maybe Doug will chime in here and save me.
  11. Check out the web site Uship.com I put a couple pieces out there on it just to see what kind of bids I got back, but never actually used them, I think it is at least worth a look. I've also used a broker, Jennifer, from Coastal Trucking for LTL's, it might suprise you. Her # is 509-362-2274
  12. I finally decided it was because I had my browser (IE9) set to delete history upon closing. It only started to cause a problem recently, maybe there was an update in there that changed it. I re-set my internet options to retain history for either 1 or 2 days, and it seems to be back to "normal". Other web sites were also affected that I had to log back in each time, and now they too are back to the way they were.
  13. Looks like John Hoppes from Gerharts dusted off the old F model, hooked it to the Great Dane and went for a ride in the sunshine. The F model is one of three formerly owned by Yerger Brothers from Lititz. It is a 865 V8 with a straight 5 speed.
  14. Every time I navigate away from BMT and come back, I have to log in again. Is anybody else having trouble?
  15. Oh well, I guess it is what it is. Power Day Open House 2012.pdf
  16. If that thing ever vapor locks and back-fires, the results could be catastrophic!!
  17. There was no such animal. Mack engineering resisted any application for the CH that even resembled vocational. The CH model never offered any steer axles over 14,600#, and there were never any exhaust options to accomidate straight trucks, other than under frame. The vocational trucks were at the time, CL's and RD's. Even the first CLs that came out had an exhaust interference dimension of 14", when dealers ordered them for straight trucks and dumps, the dealer or the body builder had to modify the exhaust, it wasn't until later that Mack engineering finally came up with some options.
  18. That'a a rare bird. Years ago there was an article in Overdrive magazine (many years ago), I remember them talking about the flat floor, and all kinds of room in the cab. Don't remember much of anything else.
  19. Hey Dave, somebody sent these pictures taken in Cannon Falls, MN. I don't know whatever made think of you, but do you know anything about this? Or maybe you're not ready to talk about it publicly? Now I see what you're doing with all that junk stuff you've been buying lately. Looks like you're holding out on us
  20. "Assisted living" retirement home for Mack trucks RIP (rust in peace)
  21. That makes sense, because of some of the custom work Sherbrick is doing, it makes it easier to coordinate efforts, should give him even more flexibility, by the way, give Vic my regards. (tell him his first factory lift axle customer said that) Dave
