  1. When I saw that Virginia tag, I noticed that it was a working truck (tag), I thought you must know something about it.
  2. I think they are two different trucks. I agree with you farmer, I like the OEM look best. Whether you like the look or not, whenever you personalize something, it usually hurts the value.
  3. Took this picture at ATHS Baltimore 2006. Don't know any more than that about the truck. I just assumed it is the same one that was at Gerharts this year with the sleeper on it now, or maybe not.
  4. Yes it was at Gerharts. I'm always suprised when somebody puts that much time and money into something, and then puts it up for sale. 30K is strong money, but he probably has twice that in it.
  5. I think the CL's are some of the best riding best handling trucks Mack ever built. The first 98's had some issues like David said, but if the updates were done they should be fine.
  6. I had a magazine ad (but can't find it now), where Dodge had a promotion where they gave you a free pick-up truck with the purchase of a new diesel highway tractor. Seemed to me it was early 1970's. I guess it was too little - too late.
  7. Aluminum carriers were an option with the lower rated 34 -38K axles. I've seen some with corrosion issues, otherwise don't know much about the pro's & con's. Meritor (Rockwell) also offered some model axles with aluminum carriers for light weight bulk hauler applications.
  8. There was another change that happened about the same time (calander year 1986 / model year 1987) along with the silver/gray interior, revised steering wheel and overhead consol, Mack also went with a totally two sided galvanized steel cab. Up until then there were only some galvanized parts (doors?)
  9. I guess Albert's left foot got tired and accidently slipped off the clutch pedal?
  10. JR, I'm just up route 23 from you. I had heard about that truck but I never saw it. I have a rebuilt SP switch if you wanted to try it. (2) 12V batteries should work just fine. If you need a hand, send me an email d.igou@gerhartmachinery.com and I'll give you a cell phone #. Dave
  11. Next time you go around a corner, look in the mirror, how do the axles track? Are there any tire marks on your walking beams?
  12. I still have one for sale http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/23732-series-parallel-switch/
  13. Thank you for your support, I think I got it now!!!! day late and a dollar short
  14. The Keen LJ is an NH220 under the hood, it runs good & sounds good. It is some version of a 9 or a 10 speed duplex trans, and 44,000# rears, (I don't remember what model #). It has after maket hydraulic power steering, with a belt driven pump and the slave cylinder is on the tierod. I don't know how it feels on the road, but in the yard you can steer with one finger.
  15. Great pictures Les, and ya, I always seem to get side tracked at picture time. I wish somebody could take a few minutes and teach me how to tell time.
  16. A couple more, The ex Gerosa DC200 Autocar with it's rich past history, a little M Farmall basking in the sun, Roger's factory original 362 Pete 4 axle, a Bucyrus 22B, which went to a collector in Oklahoma, a 22B Hi Walker, and Liza-Jane, the resident D9G and her Curtis Wright scraper.
  17. A couple pictures from Gerharts, Roger's Joe Beers Autocar with a KT Cummins, a Mack corporate CHU Rawhide show truck, Tackaberry's RW Magnum & fine B87, Mark Yoos fine RW & Ravens alum spread axle, Richie Muys fine RL, a really cool LT, and a Mack R that was modified by the crew at the Engineering & Test Center to plow snow, and others.
  18. Here's a couple pictures from Mack Days 2012. We have the newly refurbished Mack History trailer, and a decked out CHU Rawhide corporate demonstrator. Looks like we might catch a break on the weather. Stay tuned!!!
  19. Just a couple reminders about the Gerhart show: The Friday evening cookout / clambake is sponsored by members of the local chapter of ATCA, and it is paid for by donations from attendees, and all are welcomed, and second, the host, Mr Gerhart asked that please, no alchoholic beverages on the property.
  20. A couple pictures this week taken in the new Westport plant near Macungie, Pa. Gerhart is helping to move some of the tooling from the former LPP facility in Lancaster to the new spacious Westport facility in Breinigsville, Pa
  21. The stealth had an extra gate behind the turbo, it was a combination engine brake and exhaust brake to make up for the poor performance. It was only offered for a short while. doc024.pdf
  22. Doug, Is it mandatory that your truck be there two days, or could you be there Saturday only?
