  1. Name: Mack RW713 Superliner (1988) Date Added: 09 February 2009 - 10:19 AM Owner: daveigou Short Description: 199" wheelbase heavy haul tractor View Vehicle
  2. KY,

I like your equipment. I was just checking the RW with the KT. Looks like a "if it fits - it ships" git-er-done truck to me.

I'd like to see some pictures of the 89 RW.

    My work email is d.igou@gerhartmachinery.com

  3. I don't know about Australia, but here in the States, Mack (Volvo) just spent a pile of money to promote the Mack brand identity at the opening of the new Customer Reception Center, at a time when money is very tight. As far as the engine is concerned, I think they have a very good product, call it Mack, call it Volvo or whatever, and I think when all the "new" (EPA2010) engines get some miles under their belts, I think the MP engines are going to take their place among the best.
  4. The article I'm looking for was about Monfort's early W9 KW's with the 1693 Cat engines. If I remember right, they promosed second day delivery any where in the lower 48 states. Another thing I recall from the article was that they did not do any kind of PM on the trucks, some were out with 700-800,000 miles and never had an oil change. Keep looking guys!!! Dave
  5. Anybody remember an article about Monfort Transportation published in Comercial Car Journal many years ago? If anybody can come up with it, I would sure enjoy reading it again. Dave
  6. If you make a deal for both trucks, talk to me, maybe I can take the parts truck off your hands and move it back to Lititz, PA. Dave
  7. At the Gerhart show this year, we had intended to do just that, see how many Superliners we could keep together, but the rain the day before changed our plans, and we ended up parking trucks wherever we could get them on the field. Still not a bad show for having over seven inches of rain the day before. This comming year, 2011, we again want to try to organize the trucks better into like groups. Even though the show is intended to be "all Mack", nobody is turned away, and we try to keep the other make trucks grouped together also. We always have good intentions, but.............. Dave
  8. A little preview of what's new this year!! The people at Aycock Rigging in Hummelstown, Pa graciously allowed the loan of one of their Mack LRVSW prime movers to the show this year. Special thanks to Larry, Jeff, Jim and the other fine folks at Aycock!!!
  9. Only two more weeks to go to Gerharts show. Hope to see you there!!
  10. I almost forgot, that was one of the stipulations from Meritor for approval of combination with super single wheel equipment, that the axle be spec'd with "premium bearing package", like Timken. sounds like you're on the right track. Dave
  11. Yes, there are issues when running super singles. Depending on the "offset" of the wheels you're running, the wheel "centers" are moved outward an inch or two, causing more stress on the wheel ends (bearings)and housing. I ran into a situation where wheel and/or axle manufacturers de-rated the capacity of their axles with super single wheel equipment, or would no longer offer certain axle models in combination with super single tires. Only recently did some of these problems surface because of a higher number of failures than normal. I have also seen problems with brake camshaft tube cracking at the mounting points, and gussets had to be beefed up. You may want to check with your axle vendor district service rep before switching a truck built with dual wheels to super singles. Dave
  12. P.S. For "Mackless in Ohio", we have a V8 MH with your name on it. Dave
  13. It's a very informal show. There is some activity Friday afternoon & evening. On Saturday people start showing up around 7 am, but the peak time of the show is from about 10 o'clock to about 3 o'clock on Saturday. Dave
  14. Location is 910 Brunnerville Road, Lititz, Pa 17543 See you there Dave
  15. Always the first Saturday in October. This year it will be Friday the 1st. & Saturday the 2nd. No need to register, just show up!
  16. Guess he didn't want to get his shirt dirty?
  17. Everybody's perception is different. If you want to know for sure, if you want to get it right, run it on a dyno. Dave
  18. I know the combination of 237/Allison has been done before, I don't recall ever seeing a 673 or 711 with one, but that doesn't mean it never was. Keep us posted!!
  19. A 237 & 5 $peed probably make$ more $en$e unle$$ you got lot$ of the$e!!!
  20. I like your H model. Must have been a real looker in it's day!! At the moment, this is the only piece of H67 literature that I can find. I don't know if yours is a plain H67T ot an H67LT. The difference is the "LT" has some aluminum chassis parts, otherwise they should be the same. Dave
  21. I like your Superliner. I think I've seen it on TOW411. Please post some pictures!! My son and I have a 1988 RW713 - see the garage section. Search "1988 RW713 Superliner" or cut & paste this link http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?app=garage&do=view&id=179 Dave
  22. Looks like you answered your own question. A new one is probably aroud $25. It will probably be set around 125-130 psi. Thats OK. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Nobody here was "born in the seat" Dave
  23. The air governor looks like this. It's about 4" long and 1 1/2" in dia. It is most likely mounted on the air compressor, or the firewall. If it's not mounted on the compressor, there should be a small line (trigger line)to an air reservoir, and another small line which goes to the air governor. The largest line also goes to an air reservoir.
  24. You are looking for one of these on one or more of your air tanks. But your real problem is still the air governor. Even if the relief valve is working, your air governor is not, you still should be carrying no more than 120-130# air pressure. The pressure relief valve should only relieve the pressure when it gets into the 150 psi range, which it sounds like maybe it is working.
