  1. Good looking truck; was this picture taken before going to pasture? If not it definitely wasn’t what I invisioned
  2. I don’t know either; people use them in wrong places all the time for sure; I remember working when I was a kid we would work till dinner (lunch) eat quick and if needed to make call to order parts we would drive to the phone booth 4 miles away where it wouldn’t be long distance.
  3. You got any pictures? 318 would be a 8V-71; silver 92 could be 6V or 8V with both more than 318hp. Would be good idea to have someone with experience with you when cranking if has not run in 12 yrs. I would pump clean fuel with power service and turning over working the rack before starting. You need to talk to folks in your area that know these engines.
  4. Hell; I was just thinking how clean it was for 75model Detroit, but we all know it’s been into a jillion times. Still got original valve covers which could be a pain from not leaking but it has the newer style heads
  5. Good deal & very good lookin truck
  6. Scroll back up & you’ll find 1
  7. Exactly; I didn’t start out with 1; but after driving 1 I liked them & that’s what drew me to Mack cause they were in a class by themselves. Most people over wind rpms past there peak or don’t let them pull down to there sweet spot. It’s all about what your doing with the truck & or how it’s spec’d.
  8. The way I see it; most folks are use to the multi-gear trans. quick shifting like driving a car; the 5 & 6 speeds stay in gear a lot longer, you can’t shift them fast, rpms go way down & most people think there not pulling & that they have lost all there momentum. Then on top of all that they can’t snort & clown between gears as good.
  9. Everybody I’ve known that did this; the only thing they achieved (on the black top) was more gear shifting. Same speed at same spots. If you didn’t do something to the pump.
  10. That’s funny my friend texted me the same thing about his uncle except her name was Connie & she had her own boat; plus the wedding was in ms so I know they aient kin I told him I wasn’t at all interested cause if his uncle would rather go to the super bowl she had a BUNCH of problems he wasn’t telling about!
  11. I know I’m bad about going somewhere to get something & if there out & I go somewhere else I usually don’t go back to other place
  12. I was always told an oil bath was the best on engines running at constant rpm; there not as good at idle. They stayed on gen. sets and power units.

I think your right 100% I think your the man for the job; Go for it!
  14. Looks like plenty of prime ...t; I mean wouldn’t think you’d be hungry with them 2 bimbos as you say
  15. I just don’t see how your loads could be hotter than them 2 ladies needing help!
  16. Worked on a bunch that had 8.2DD
  17. If it’s an old gen set it’ll have an hyd. gov. & I’m sure cast pan & cast flywheel housing. That hyd gov. would make that 12V sound good but it wouldn’t drive good I wouldn’t imagine
  18. I know an automotive 12V-71 is lighter than a marine or industrial type; the automotive type has stamped steel oil pan for 1 instead of cast & stamped steel sub pan for instance & flywheel housing could be aluminum instead of cast; the governor could be different too if not automotive, but no weight difference there
  19. I figured you would’ve had the F model in there.
  20. I’m sorry; I meant the Top 2 most attractive Mack trucks?
