  3. Well down at Mackay on Monday and wandering around passing some time and came across the new Dodge Ram sales man tells me it goes like a cut cat and pulls like a 16 year old, I still cant get past the price Paul
  4. chicken should have just road on up there and go what sign never seen sign, were was your shovel for the snake ?????? only good snake is a dead one Very green and lush looking country side there looks a bit like a golf ball for a giant sticking up Paul
  5. looks like a great show , I like those Pacific and Hayes trucks very stylish indeed although perhaps style wasnt the main thing they were chasing when they built them but they sure got a bucket load of style in the end Thanks for sharing the photos and glad the Mack made it there and back ok Paul
  6. Swishy I was thinking of the same road but didnt wanna rain on their 11 mile parade LOL your way off the Melways there mate Paul
  7. As you watch the movie you will notice it has 4 trucks in it all been used it has a Super Hippo a COE something AEC or maybe Foden or maybe a Hippo and also something a little smaller than a super Hippo because its single drive ??? A great old film of simpler times Buffalo has three vents on the bonnet (hood) Hippo has two vents
  8. Oh yeah and that isnt a Hippo its a Buffalo bigger and more power not many sold out here or anywhere The old Buffalo still exists pretty rare cab on it custom made as was the norm back then in Australia for a lot of the pommy trucks Paul
  9. hey hey some ones found my hidden stash LOL Paul
  10. one of them is a vent to atmosphere and is meant to be open if the air is leaking a lot maybe time for a kit in the gear knob piece or maybe a regulator is set wrong Paul
  11. I wonder if they come in RHD ????
  12. would a two speed diff be a easier option would give you a lot lower first gear run wires up to the gear stick tail shaft most likely wont have to be changed and parts are easy to get Aux trans are getting hard for parts these days and every one wants what you are chasing, under, direct and over drive and they are pretty much rare as hens teeth out here now Paul
  13. thats some impressive photos there Paul
  14. I would like to give this a like but bugger me Holden is part of who we are still they tell me thats progress I say what a crock of shit these useless pricks running show wouldnt know their ass from their elbow clowns the lot of them sorry but thats the way I feel Wanna sell cars get back to making what people want and you will sell them like hot cakes or you can try and force them to buy something they dont want and piss and moan when nobody buys them Heck we turn over more new cars than ever in Australia but the brains trust at GM wanna go broke or at least it looks that way to me Paul
  15. fantastic stuff love it, keep us posted Paul
  16. Thats amazing stuff I never new 99% of that thanks for sharing Paul
  17. Doing a lot better job than I would have been able to do Paul
  18. Yeah Australia had real love affair with the leaker Swishy still has LOL and despite what a lot of people say on here they were and still are a great little motor and for 99% of all work done even today they still get along ok but as we say "you gotta drive em like ya stole em" LOL your busy stirring the porridge all day Think about this they used the 6 71 and 8 71 on road trains with gross weights in excess of a 100 ton would have been a very steady drive for sure but they got there and they used to get a million miles yes miles on them out here now for our crappy conditions and the weights they hauled thats pretty impressive and figures and B model Thermodyne could rarely match Jump a few years ahead when Mack had the cool power motors and the leaker was no match for them not even close , sorry Swishy LOL Paul
  19. I have spent some time in a B model with a 8 71 in it still had the Quad box , The B model had the cast radiator up front never over heated even in Australia's hot climate and it drove ok no problems at all that I can remember except the noise Was told by the fella that owned it that it came new with 8 71 The fella that owned it had it on float work shifting his road building gear about and it looked like this had the air start fitted as well
  20. But if you look inside the gear or on the out side of the shaft is it worn doesnt matter what we think it should be if it is worn its stuffed but you should be able to see the wear marks on it I would think it will have a fare amount of movement in it even when its new Maybe go to your local truck parts person and grab the shaft and gear off the shelf and have a look at a new set ??? Paul
  21. Thats some keen eyes there Bambi is not safe in this neck of the woods Bambi is feral and eating us out of house and home cute as a button though Not the ugly bugger holding it shame some irresponsible people bred them and let them go but the law is the law and they gotta go Paul
  22. I dont think think from what I have read there is anything wrong with the transmission sounds like the clutch brake was torn of the input shaft (the chattering noise) and when the clutch was adjusted the bolt wasnt seated back in the clutch properly and went straight out of adjustment in a big way There is a fare bit of movement in those input shaft until the other end is back in the crank Paul
