Steve I tried a whole heap of different sizes some people say 3/16 I found it did weld but I couldnt get a strong weld I spaced the plug welds like the spot welds , lots in the corners and less in the middle, at a guess every 1 1/2 inches average and some in the corners are closer than a inch because thats how Mack had spot welded them I hope it will be ok it's a bit late to go back and change them now but sure it will be fine Paul

no time now Swish man for a new cab, I did call and he still had the cab but Im fairly under the pump time wise , spray painter leaves Vic tomorrow morning, will get here Sunday or Monday This was yesterdays effort will head back out after tea and have another crack tonight Paul

Well now all the bananas are bent, I'm into big time rust and crap going hell west and crooked. Ordered the remaining panels and they are all here now except one which is on its way and the roof vent which can't be too far away either I hope. I'm on a deadline of next Sunday to be all joined up and the winch etc shifted and or removed as the spray painter (my best mate) will be here around about then. It's a 3000km one way trip in his ute to paint the Mack so best be ready or his wife will get a set of lips like a cows bum LOL Anyway dunno if any of you jokers are interested or not but I make videos of the stupid goings on on the farm so if you can understand Straylian click on the link bellow and see how not to do it Paul

Swish man I have always planned to make it to the Mack muster, maybe once Mrs Mack is all dolled up yah never know Paul

Once I get out to the higher weight levels and extra trailers the fuel economy rarely drops bellow 4 MPG maybe 3.5 MPG on a real bad day but the speed suffers a big bit Its not unusual to spend hours grinding along 65 70 km/h for hours on end with big weights and tall trailers, funny enough I rarely get passed by modern trucks with twice the power and similar weight that wind coming across at a 45 degree angle knocks the stuffing out of any truck on open country I dont care how much power you have Paul

Tim I wanna sort out this rust issue and start pulling triples to Perth and back LOL dunno if I would get many loads but what a ride Paul

Feels kinda nervous as I have no plans just to get packed and shift to some where and we dont know were thats gunna be yet ? Paul

Was informed today by a ex Mack Australian man the cab is the same and there was templates they would lay on the cab to drill the holes in the right spot And it takes two weeks to do a complete cab change into a new cab drilling the holes etc and mounting all the old in the new and painting Paul

Tim if I could find one at short notice I would I have already spent a couple of grand on panels over the last couple of years slowly collecting stuff but would change the whole cab if I found one at the right price I need to be finished and on the road in under a month as we have sold the farm and I need to shift and do some hwy work Paul

After going thru the Watts pages I relize I need the sills not the rockers How did you find the Mack parts number off that page ???? thanks in advance Paul

we have for the last few years but used to live nearly 300 miles inland before that and it had bad rust before we shifted near the coast Paul

Mrs Mack is in shed getting some body work done I have been collecting bits for some time but when I yanked the lid today and the sun visor yesterday it has become very apparent some rust will need to be removed There used to be a technical section on the forum and maybe still is but dunno were it is now Anyway after some panel part numbers as in Mack numbers so I can make her fresh again as she has some work to do next month and needs to be fresh I have some parts diagrams, some are Australian Army parts list and dont have part numbers Any way does anyone know what part the drip rail is for the front along the top of the wind screen And also a part number for the roof vent And the rocker panel for each side or at least thats what I call them, they run the floor at each door opening Thanks for all or any help Paul

I dunno my ass from my elbow as you would all know I dont believe they make anymore power but remove solids as in water and dust If anything if not fitted right they make less power as a vacuum can be created at the rear of the cab and a lot of COE Kenworths and no doubt some other brands shifted the intakes to up near the front of the cab to eliminate this Paul

can you use the spray can crack testing method type of thing for cracks We can buy the cans of dye in bearing suppliers out here It would be a shame to put it back together and still have a problem Paul

I would like to like this but I dont like it at all This same thing has happened a few times with a few brands in Australia and it leaves people that bought these high and dry and with almost worthless trucks as whos gunna buy a truck brand that isnt even around anymore Paul

I think you will find it wont unless it has more fuel to make a bigger bang As the air is cooled it gets denser yes, but it wont achieve any extra power unless that air can be put to work by burning more fuel We all reckon things go better at night as the air cools but I think it mainly has to do with breeze dropping so the wind resistance is a lot lower Anyway that's my understanding but I could and most likely do have this all ass about Paul
