  1. I have been asked is there a positive way of indentfiying these two items As in what do all the numbers and letters I believe EN is for E series ,D is for diesel, T turbo charged next lot of numbers are displacement But thats about were my brains run out If I was to google adds for Mack trucks for sale in Australia and look at whats listed, almost every single truck is a 350 Maxidyne allegedly, even the 2 valve trucks This I know isnt correct or even close to correct but every person today tries and tells everyone else that they have the duck guts in cool powered Macks even though most Macks of this era were never sold that way and were poverty packs So can I tell from numbers if its a 2 valve Can I tell by injector pump numbers the power rating it was set at Any info on this would be gratefully accepted, Im apparently gunna get some photos of these numbers on a truck some hours away to try and help decipher, this info is coming my way in the next 2 -3 hours So if anyone has the low down, not rumors or such but the actual facts please feel free to share Paul
  2. Well I'm impressed, I try not to be anti Volvo, after all if we aren't careful the Mack brand will disappear for ever Volvo's cant be all that bad they have been used in extreme conditions in Australia pulling road trains and extreme heavy haulage for well over 40 years now Paul
  3. Thinking the new bride must be keeping him side tracked Most of us have been there or are still there Paul
  4. Sorry Im no help here, but that sounds like a sensible place to start, maybe it has come loose and shifted, I am assuming it's like a normal automotive type of sensor I have never worked on these really need to shut my trap, will observe from the side lines and learn something Paul
  5. I totally agree, for the company that doesn't do any long distance but may need to occasionally carry some extra people Something in the city were tight maneuverability is required I think it would sell like hot cakes Paul
  6. You are most likely right, my R model has been very molested from the previous owner, if I was to compare it to what you blokes would scrap in the states it would of been scrapped, even by most peoples standards in Australia it was never worth buying all those years ago But throw enough blood sweat and dollars at something and you can save anything lol I feel it would of most likely had shutters when new, I'll keep my eyes out for the rest of the parts Paul
  7. A International man of mystery lol, I dont think it really matters, KS is a very switched on person who was very willing to share and help as much as he could and that is what is important to me Paul
  8. Without been to accurate I would say 65 - 76, pretty sure the coolpowers started then and went to maybe 82, 83 and the econodyne Mind you things were different in Australia than the U.S. and our range was a lot smaller Paul
  9. Well Im impressed, I watched the road test if you would call it that of one these, wasn't really a road test that was to be in later episode, still havent found the second part I was impressed with dash not wrapping around as much allowing for a extra person or Miss Molly the border collie to ride in greater comfort with the bigger seat or me to stretch out and have a snooze in a day cab Now this cab on a Pinnacle with that mRIDE ass end and Mack axles and I reckon I would have a useful truck Paul
  10. Paul Harvey that I have mentioned before on here has said "that if our country (the U.S.A.) ever fails it will be from within" or words to that effect, I feel this applies to all good free countries of which the rest of the world envies Countries like yours and the greatest of them all Australia will fail as a direct result of the looney left and their crazy ideas There is things about America I dont like but thats fine, thats America and I'm not going to dictate to anyone else how or what they should do If you haven't really listened to Paul Harvey, get on you tube and have a listen, I dont agree with everything he says but he is really good to listen to Paul
  11. I dunno about the noise of the fan, clutch fans offer greater fuel economy and power Is this a issue for you ? only you can answer that I personally dont run a clutch fan or shutters, dont think either were ever fitted from new, so much other noise I doubt I would even hear the fan I have collected shutters for mine but not the rest of the mechanism to operate them Paul
  12. I wonder if Americans think they are the only country with the looney left as they are commonly referred to in Australia We dont talk politics in Australia very much so I rarely comment or add to this type of thread on the forum, I do read it and get a good chuckle going at times This came my way this morning and it made me chuckle, thought it might give you all a laugh as well Australia taking the piss as we say, you need to watch it and remember if you get offended you are part of the problem lol Paul
  13. Sure do miss his knowledge and input, hoping all is okay with him Paul
  14. Well I learnt something today that apparently most Americans dont know According to David Freibuger, Did you know that July 4 is NOT the celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Nope, this is the anniversary of the acceptance of the document by the Second Continental Congress. It was signed by most of the members of that Congress nearly a month later on August 2, 1776. So that boys and girls of the Big Mack truck forum is as we say in Australia "Todays useless information", actually John Laws a radio announcer used to share some useless information every day John Laws is probably Australia's version of Paul Harvey whom I also enjoy listening to re-runs of his speeches Yeah I know I know, shut up Paul, wishing you all in Yanky land a great day doing what ever it is that makes you Yankees who you are Paul
  15. This just came up on Facelessbook Apparently NewZealand's only Brockway Had 8V71 GM and 13 speed Roadranger Oh yes, and of course not my photos and full credit to who ever they belong to Paul New Zealand - Greytown - Resiting the Masonic Lodge building - The old Masonic Lodge building on the back of a truck, as it was moved from West Street to Main Street, where it housed Greytown Public Library - 1978 Greytown - Population 2,202 (at the 2013 Census) - A rural town in the heart of the Wairarapa region of New Zealand - It is 80 km north-east of Wellington and 25 kilometres southwest of Masterton - It was awarded the title of New Zealand's Most Beautiful Small Town 2017 - Greytown was first settled on 27 March 1854 under the Small Farms Association Settlement Scheme and was named after Governor Sir George Grey, who arranged for the land to be bought from local Māori. It became a Borough in 1878 and a ward of the South Wairarapa District Council in 1989.
  16. I would of thought any rubber supply place should be a good start Paul
  17. Couldn't you just go old school and actually measure what you need ? If it is leaking after a few hours work I think I would be looking at the breather been blocked or the bearings not been done up right Paul
  18. Pull it apart until you have good accessto the core and blow it out with a compressor Need to be careful of the fins as the compressor has enough air flow and pressure to bend them over and this will be just like blocking it again Paul
  19. As already said, make sure the evaporatee coil is clean and once it is clean dont drive with window while the AC is going and it will stay clean for a long time Some times if the thermostat in the AC doesnt work properly thry will freeze up like a rock and slowly stop air flow Paul
  20. So been thinking and studying and well you never know if you dont ask Very slack day waiting, waiting and more waiting Whilst wasting my life away waiting for everything else to happen today I have beem googling and trying to find out if mRIDE is available in Australia So I notice this Superliner for sale and notice it has mRIDE assend, it is b ride in the add So zoomed in and found this And a frontal shot just to get you im the mood So anyway I take it that it is clearly available in Australia Found this Yanky broucher on mRIDE and you can get up to 11 leaves in the spring pack This pack is 5 so guessing 5 is enough for road train work 11 would be like a 58 camel back Im thinking https://www.macktrucks.com/powertrain-and-suspensions/suspensions/mride/ Paul
  21. That would be one hell of a show to go for a look Paul
  22. Well a bit more reading and Googling and I found this, the forum gets a mention in the article The article also claims it is similar in appearance to the T ride and Freightliners suspension but is different and is not simply a M instead of a T https://www.constructionequipment.com/macks-mride-smooths-bumps Paul
  23. As I read the comments people said its a copy of Volvo's T ride Dunno if thats true or not Paul
  24. This came up on youtube the other day Have never heard of mRIDE Is it still available and has anyone had first hand experience with it, not "I heard from a mate of a mate who knows a bloke" Paul
  25. Thats pretty much what I do, one thing to remember is the tank will most likely be vented so I just wind the regulator right back and leave it on Apart from the obvious problem of over pressuring the tank which wont happen as the tube will pop off, the regulator allows you to leave the air connected and walk away and look and study etc Paul
