  1. Thinking about it, that makes a lot of sense and if a mistake is made marking things out just change the bit of tape and zero chance of using the incorrect mark Paul
  2. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some photos then Paul
  3. Im thinking to check in the order above, motors and drive line are pretty easy to rebuild but the coin gets chewed up really quick on body work and missing bits and pieces, you will be shocked at just how quick you will go thru the dollars, what ever you think it will cost no matter how experienced you are or how many mates you have it pays to remember the words of a old American hot rodder Lil John Buttera "double it and then multiply it by four" Tyres are last on my list, there a dime a dozen these days, they are the cheapest I have ever seen them Good luck and let us know how you make out Paul
  4. Bloody hoodies, hate the things ha ha ha, Im about the only person I know that does hate them I dont like my ears been covered, sort of cant sense when the Princess is sneaking up behind me 😁😁 Mind you as each winter passes I find my self pulling my beenie further down over my ears 🤔 Your work is amazing as is your attention to detail I'm gunna ask a most likely dumb question, why do you put masking tape on things while marking them out, I'm sure theres a good reason and have noticed you do this The rusted pitted ball in the pitman arm is probably just on a taper and riveted over ? If this was the case it no doubt can be replaced I have never seen a press brake before like that, I like it and will have to make enquiries Great work and thanks for the updates Paul
  5. They are about in Australia but very thin on the ground There was one advertised a few years ago but the bloke wanted 5 grand or more I wish I could remember were as I would track down the details as at that price he would most likely still have it It is probably far cheaper to bring one in from the States, just rent a corner in a shipping container and pay by the square meter Paul
  6. I gather fuel line is some type of rubber ? Maybe when you get a new line made up slide a tight fitting spring over the out side to prevent it kinking again It's hard to believe 20 years has nearly passed since 9-11 Paul
  7. Thats a huge difference, sometimes it feels like we are getting no were at all Thank goodness we have smart phones that take photos these days, kinda shocks us back to reality Paul
  8. I guess it depends on your deale, Mack in Townsvilleare perfect, its quicker for me to order stuff over the phone and get it air bagged to the other end of the country Traralgon are good Dubbo is pretty good as well Laverton are okay SwanHill are okay Mildura are a waste of time, yet they own the SwanHill branch It really depends on the dealer But hands down Jenny in Townsville is the best and the rest of Townsville spare parts crew are pretty bloody good as well Paul
  9. Well Im guessing a couple of things What part of the world are you in ? Maybe no one knows of any for sale,I dont know of any Dunno a little more information on who what when and were and just wait and see They aren't groing trees and are getting thinner on the ground every day Paul
  10. People including me dont understand fully how the fuel system works If any of the valves etc are leaking mentioned here are leaking it is only a issue if you have a leak in the return line If any of these valves leak and lets fuel return to the tank the return line when sealed air tight and fully functional will siphon fuel from the tank thru the injector pump until there is a balance of vacuum between the supply and the return What this does is maintains the prime under any conditions People change valves, add check valves and do this and do that and it appears to solve the problem Then one day maybe a month, maybe a year maybe 5 years time for no apparent reason it has lost prime when sitting Might be a microscopic piece of dirt under a valve, a spring has lost a poofteenth of tension and the valve never shut correctly However the misconception we are under is that bloody vavle has failed again It hasn't, diesels are desgined for this to happen and when they do the return side of the fuel system is meant to siphon fuel up from the tank to maintain prime This is the part people do not understand and some just plain refuse to accept I wont be drawn into a long drawn out conversation about it, I will explain the facts and leave you to Not been rude here and not trying to be a smart ass, just trying to explain whats what and how it works Paul
  11. Well I guess it depends on the part of the world you live in, I personally prefer them, quick to change, stronger than 10 stud bud rims and are pretty quick and simple to handle Paul
  12. You have a leak in your return to the tank fuel lines Pressurize the tank a little to find the leak Use a old piece of inner tube and a hose clamp over filler neck Wind the air pressure regulator right down on the work shop compressor and pressurize the system and the search for the leak Good luck Paul
  13. Hmmmmmm, I don't know of anyone in Australia that has done this Our 44's look different in Australia and have a big cone on the out side and a axle with a spline on each end that floats I do believe there is a large bush, spacer or washer on the inside of the inside bearing, goes between the bearing and the axle housing I would use the brake shoe as a guid, if it's still sitting in the drum in the correct position I would call it good Paul
  14. I think I can understand why the chassis was cut, I guess ut is to do with strengthening and adding clearance etc It is quite the job but should make a huge difference to slow speed driving In Australia with Australian built trucks they increased the castor angle to make them easier to turn when moving slow, the down side to this was the wandered a bit at speed Once the axle is stood back up and power steering added they then steer more like a modern truck I wonder if this is the case with your truck ? Paul
  15. This is what I would expect to happen, the only leak it wont show up is the pipe inside the tank that returns the the fuel to the bottom of the tank Paul
  16. Gudday Rudolf, welcome to the forum Paul
  17. Hi oldfart, buy it drive it, enjoy it and dont worry about the cook saying your nuts, she marriec and has been with you for years so I guess she's even more nuts lol Oh and welcome to the forum Paul
  18. This is fantastic and up to your usual extremely high standards, I am at a bit of a loss as to what the reason for choppping the chassis rail is but I'm sure all will be revealed in due course Paul
  19. Mate I dont judge anyone and I completely understand, up until COVID started Iwas get some custom seats done for my R model, both air ride but I was getting a low backrest to fit in better And yes your cab has come a long way Paul
  20. It was looking as expected until I saw the seats, a modern touch Its come up well and you should be proud Paul
  21. Nah mate, she's one of the continental jobs squire. 😆😆 Paul
  22. Im impressed Vlad, always a great story from your part of the world It should make a great camper except for the speed but it gives you more time to enjoy the scenery as you travel
  23. This will be interesting
  24. More gypsy Swishman 😉
  25. People have often asked what rating did the E9s come in in Australia This popped up today, I thought 575 was as big as they went but turns out I dont two tenths of sweet stuff all
