  1. Thx for posting the Bridgestone link. It is current info. I have an old Rockwell Product Specification Book-TP 8958 2/95 print date -(boy I am old) One handy page is a generic tire size. As the discussion is on 24", most relevant data is revs per mile A comparison; size revs/mile radius 11:00 24 434 22.8" 11:00R 24 443 22 12:00 24 413 23.4 12:00R 24 438 21.9* 11:00R 24.5 474 20.5 11:00 24.5 472 20.7 12:00R 24.5 463 21 12:00 24.5 413 23.4 *This must be a mis print -fewer revs per mile than 11:00 24 yet lower radius????
  2. KSC, With everyone attempting to develop an "in house" engine line up, what would it take for Ford to bring at least the 7.3 and the 9.0 to the US? Again I really can't see Ford getting back into the high end of class 8 but IMO they are missing the boat by not having a tandem vocational based on the 750. There has to be a market for a low cost tandem that meets weight laws and is not expected to run a 100,000 miles a year.
  3. Here you go-these are 11:00R 24
  4. Show us the Ecotorq HERE in US!
  5. I do believe this truck has changed hands at least once in last year. The guy that had it before the current owner had it in its current condition. So a bit of mark up going on here. It is a very nice truck in any case.
  6. Thx for your past service and continued efforts today!
  7. Nice work on the truck but for sure, you get an A plus for shop cleanliness!! Keep the pix coming!
  8. I would think if anything, might there be some effort to roll back the compliance dates a bit? The objectives might be good, but are the compliance dates unrealistic? I would think with more time the industry might be able to develop a better end result. On another note, all the discussion seems to involve auto production in Mexico. What about trucks?? Are not all Rams/Mopars/Dodges built in Mexico? A lot of Freightliner production? A lot of Navistar production? As with a lot of issues, Trump will have to depend on the good people he brings on board for advice-I hope! Just saw a Jack Welch interview that seemed upbeat on just where the "real" Trump will be headed.
  9. Well the good news I suppose is that it sounds like one American company that did not end up with owners in China-or should I say "Yet in China?
  10. Thx guys. Very interesting that UPS springs for V-10 powered 650's. Any OAP employees on this thread that might have a clue on size of UPS order? On another note, I was talking to a guy at a Mass steel service center yesterday. These guys have a number of new 750 Power Strokes in service. typical like 20 ft flatbeds. They replaced a bunch of older Cummins powered 750's. In a word, "no problems". He went on to elaborate-no problems compared to the old ones-constant issues involving the issues associated with the emissions issues and the regen/def BS. Ford dealer would say "take it to Cummins" and Cummins would say "take it to Ford." No issues from a driver perspective.
  11. thx Kevin, Tough when you have "CRS" disease!
  12. Guys, I recall someone posted a picture of a new UPS Ford F-650 box. I can't find the thread now. Any clues?
  13. Wow- huge news. Friend of mine currently fighting this and you can see the decline by the week. My mother-in-law also had it and unfortunately it lingered with her. I have to say when a person's body may be functioning but the mind goes it is the worst.
  14. HBinder, Thx- so it looks like the hood is higher than an F-230. that says to me it was designed to accommodate a particular engine that needed more clearance??
  15. Andy, Thx for that info- seems to me the truck had a slightly different look but maybe I was confusing it with another binder. By the way it dawned on me after I posted it, but that shot was taken outside the church. Note black bunting on grill. great guy who went too soon.
  16. R-230. I'm not sure of what an "M" was but I think they had a shorter hood-the typical R model cab and diamond plate fenders but a different look. Attached is a picture of Dave Mauro's F-230-done with the usual attention to detail as was the case with all of his trucks. Last one Dave did before he lost his battle with cancer.
  17. Old guy here- I assume that is a Windsor? Seems like most of the Windsor blocks I see advertised are like 377? 378? 406? I can relate to Fairlanes however, ordered a new 428 CJ Torino, C-6 in 68. It was an unusual notchback-most were fastbacks. 4:30 rears and it would upshift 2nd gear rubber with ease. And about 12 -13 mpg!
  18. Nice -and the power train will be???
  19. Wow- and a gas job at that AND the Ford logo still in the grill! Kevin, I do believe I saw a new 750 boom wrecker on Cape Cod last week. It was in traffic and I could not see if it had Power Stroke badges but this was a Super Cab, long wheel base with a big hydraulic boom. Could not imagine with a stick that big it could have been anything but a 33,000lb 750 if not a 37,000lb. Also I recognized the colors as those of an outfit that I have seen with at least one new 450 rollback.
  20. EJ-no state work-he pretty much is into site developement for builders-I also got him into the oil patch doing dike reconstruction. so what do you think of that motor?
  21. Thx for response. this thing will not get beat-although while he is buying to pull low boy, he then talks about buying a dump too-hopefully he will use it for his needs and not try to hire it out with a full time driver.
  22. Thx-and what is the reputation of this motor?
  23. 10-4 on the big blocks! The Expeditor was the "6000". We were running a distribution network that used "Stricktainers"-which were two 20' containers that you would join into a 40 foot trailer thanks to a system that employed sliding axles and heavy cast locking devices that joined the two units together. Well Strick stopped making them and we were screwed. So we bought 20' doubles trailers that were built by Theuer of NJ. Problem was we had to meet 55' as this was way before the 65' law. To pull them we needed big power so we split the order between Maxidyne powered MB's and the Expeditors that had 855 Cummins power-don't remember the hp but I think they were NH-250's. Needless to say the doghouse in an Expeditor was a tad bigger than in a Compact!
  24. Well for sure Fields followed a tough act. I guess he earned his stripes while he was Ford's guy at Mazda, but I sure don't think his career path could match what Mulally went through during his time a Boeing. And if one thing Mulally was acclaimed as being good at, it was to get rid of the old culture that existed at Ford. Think Fields remembers that??? He is a Ford groupie. Also, I think he is jumping into this self driving thing with a little too much emphasis. In time- and I can agree you can't afford to be late to any party today- but it seems he is drinking too much of the electric/self driving kool aid. Oh Teamstergrrl- 10-4 on your thoughts-and add..."if you want to be a player in medium trucks-in particular class 7, you need another diesel option (like 6cylinders!) as wellas a bigger gas/gaseous motor."
  25. Young friend of mine is about to pull trigger on subject CH. 560,000 miles-looks good excellent rubber, airbags. Kid is a civil contractor and he is tired of paying big bucks everytime he moves his equipment so he thinks he is going to save money getting this and a 35 ton trailer. His biggest piece is a 320 Cat. I've tried to talk him out of it as I say-"hire out what you can and invest in revenue generating equipment" but he has this idea in his head-will also end up with a trailer dump too. Says this 485 is last of "mechanicals"- any opinions? He had a guy look at it who said it needs exhaust manifold and brakes.
