  1. On second look I went to the Navistar website. First thought was the greenhouse was the same as old Prostar but not the case- looks like the doors might be same as on new HX.
  2. Doesn't look like the changes are too drastic. I imagine at this point every little bit helpsm in terms of airflow.
  3. Hah! KSC-remember I'm a country bumpkin here in apple country of central Mass! I have to say-pretty impressive website-thx for posting. Do they do much business in EU or is it all former Soviet block. This is where your world perspective brings a lot to this forum. I should not put everyone in the same boat as me but it seems the only thing I ever see is the the dumb-ass things done by "truckers" in that part of the world-like pulling a truck apart when they attempt to tow something, or dumping a load of brick with the tailgate locked and the front end is 8' off ground! Back to that website again pretty impressive-thx for posting For one, Ford US marketing people should look at it and learn something seeing as they have a relationship with these people. And one thing I've always said, when you look at the roads these trucks have to operate on, service capabilities that are out there, fuel quality, these trucks be they KrAZ, Ford Cargo, Iveco, Scania etc, have to be tough.
  4. KSC-Very interesting-who is krAZ and where are these built? What is interesting to me is the fact that I believe BAE in their bid to replace the Humvee was going to use the Ford 6.7 and Torqueshift as their powertrain. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical as I view any V-8 as a bit of complexity-not only in terms of "packaging" but just 2 more cylinders (or 4 for that matter) vs. an inline.
  5. And 6 cylinders of 330 and I think 363 cubes that were offered in mediums in early 60's I believe they too were built in Dagenham. so as KS says-new ones built in Dagenham, that plant has a long history of diesel production
  6. Kevin- Where are these Ford diesels built? And for sure your comments on Ranger/Everest are right on! In particular with respect to Everest. I can understand their reluctance on Ranger given its very close proximity to 150 as far as dimensions. Everest though is a completely different vehicle from the rest of the ford offerings given its BOF roots. I have to believe Everest would present a good alternative-not only to Ford buyers but those who consider those other BOF brands you mention.
  7. guys-just trying to anticipate future issues-my axle is an FA-519. My build sheet does not list tie rod ends. the only left and right components listed are..."Steering knuckle assembly " (L & R) , and "cross steering Lever" (L & R)
  8. Well I guess the following is good news as far as Mack goes.................. "For all truck brands, Lundstedt said, the future is characterized by concentrating on core markets and not go into each other's strong geographics." My first thought was the "synergism" thing comes up and its "good bye Mack." Hopefully their term "geographics" is not just limited to Geography as we know it but considers the uniqness of the markets that Mack is strong in. Like this
  9. Hmnn-I wonder why Stacy didn't say anything about the International class 7 bucket trucks in the background. C'mon Stacy, when are you going to pull the trigger on some 750's?? Typical Ford medium duty marketing-don't bother to edit out the competition. Small point? for sure but I call it.." attention to detail"
  10. Wow-5.9 L and only 4 holes??? As for the backhoe, looks like they bought the rear fenders from Cat!
  11. I'm with you on the wider cab issue. Also agree 100% that the"large car" market is going downhill as intermodal gains ground-I've posted this thought many times on this site as well as the Ford Blue Oval News site with respect to Ford getting back into class 8. The future will be in the regional day cab tractor and you don't need 600 HP and a two story sleeper to do that. Oh and RoadwayR's comment on the drop down window sill, I myself like that feature-be it on a Ford or a Mack or whatever-adds a little more visibility and a nice look-again-a personal preference- and since Ford first did it-a most copied look.
  12. Interesting-never gave a thought to the impact WW II had (or did NOT have) on Sweden. when you look at the destruction that took place on the rest of Europe-in particular Germany- no doubt Sweden was able to hit the ground running.
  13. Amen- had the same fears early in season-figured no way would they pull it all together in time. Great effort on part of Ford, Chip Gnassi Racing and Multimatic. Time to bring back the old.."Have You driven a Ford Lately" and "Winning the World Over" spots!
  14. I can't imagine the wiring harnesses in these trucks.
  15. Was taking plant tour at Macungie yesterday and asked young guy (graduate engineer who works in plant in some sort of QC/workflow improvement capacity) what about "new cab". He said it would be existing cab with "some improvements"-or words to that effect. Bottom line he was specific that it was not a new Volvo cab. He did say they were going to eliminate a paint booth line to expand the refuse truck build line and that the cabs would now go from cab supplier to Volvo New River where they would be painted and THEN sent to Macungie. Seems like a lot of handling to me. How about it KSC -any thoughts?
  16. Saw a post on another site that Alkane will soon add a class 8 cab over to their US "production". Can't see how this company can make a go of it. Establishing a US factory, dealer organization, importing Chinese cabs, using US components and doing all this under the premise that alternative fuels (CNG -LPG- LNG) are the cornerstone of their business. Any opinions? for sure KSC-what does your crystal ball say?
  17. No doubt it will work-but I just think if that power was ONLY option at those GVW/GCW ratings here in US. they would never sell. But how quick we forget-in my "youth" I remember when the C-180 Cummins at I think 464 cu. inches was used in a lot of heavy construction trucks. But today we Americans have to have 6.7's in a pick up truck!
  18. I guess the first thought that comes to my mind-at least as far as the 3129 goes-is "underpowered". A 67,000 lb GVW and a 92,000 lb GCW with a 6.7 Cummins??? Kevin-any reason why they are not using the Otosan engines?? "One Ford" campaign!
  19. Just out of curiosity-that is a lot of wire-what did it weigh?
  20. What surprises me is most of these Euro trucks seem to have minimal analog instrumentation.-at least you could form that impression looking at the shot of this Iveco dash as well as Ford Cargo.
  21. As always thx for clarification-for sure the van world is a convoluted situation
  22. Ford won't bite the bait, but they could have a ball with this if they were so inclined...Let's see-for starters how about...... "If you are a dumb ass who drops blocks from about 5' into the bed of your truck, put a sheet of 1/2" ply wood down-or get a bedliner. If you are worried about a frontal collision, we've got you covered-no charge and no extra investment needed." The real bad news here is we have to once again listen to "truck guy" Howie Long again as he is back on the GM payroll.
  23. Thx Kevin- I don't know how you find this stuff. I have made many attempts on the Ford Corporate web site and you get none of this info- thx for posting. The spec postings are interesting but they don't post in a manner that we are used to-for example-clearly state axle ratings, make of axles etc.
