  1. the log train is freaking awesome !!! that's the stuff that built this country! most people couldn't find a simple solution to a problem anymore! Mark that pic should be on display at the mack museum.
  2. ok I ordered new weather striping for the rw. what I got were 4 pcs. of striping the same length. upon removal of the regulator and side glass this appears to be wrong. looks like to me that I need one long and one short weather strip. I looked at watts site but it didn't call out part # to check against what I got. Can some fellow mack brother help me out? thanks Rob
  3. Ken: do you feel a little less claustrophobic now? I always enjoyed having the corn harvested at my place in Moses Lake I could see the neighbor hood again. looking good even if there a frightliner in the pic.
  4. yes do as Glenn said, very rare that a turbo pushes oil out the exhaust side.!
  5. WOW and he had a real V8............I don't get it?........what would make a guy hate him self that much?
  6. ok I don't know my B models that well but isn't that a b front on a L cab? it doesn't have the typical B dash. I wish that truck was on this end of the country for that price.
  7. Leslie: the only problem I see is you forgot to punch some phony part # into the bracket. looks great, wish my welding table was as clean as yours!
  8. my thoughts are rule #1 of dump trucking, truck can never be over built. I guess my thoughts are how was the trucks worked shift work with various drivers or dedicated driver? I have always found multiple driver trucks less desirable, seems that trucks respond to driver traits. I know this sounds crazy but as a fleet mechanic I would do lots more maintenance ,clutch adjustments, brakes and such all because some guys like a high pedal others a low some like tight brakes others loose and by them selves this is fine but when combined the truck suffers.
  9. I'm sure glad you didn't stop to help them wimmin cuz with a diet like that odds are the ol'e ticker would explode!
  10. Tom: thanks again for the tour!
  11. Vlad please don't send payment in rubbles nobody here where I live can do the conversion! a six pack will do just fine lol.
  12. Mike: nice job on the tractors, would have fronted you the cash on the cat, would have made a great mail box holder.
  13. I'm not saying there rare if you consider chicken lips popular !.......... btw welcome to the dog house!
  14. mack cat I see you covered the bases, do you know what the manifold pressure is? I have never played with the little engines. is that one a tip turbine? also is the truck equipped with a auto or manual trans? also does the fuel pump lever go into over travel when the throttle is smashed to the floor?
  15. hum...... things I haven't heard in the news here, but that don't surprise me.
  16. Dave: don't worry about it,it will leak no matter what you do!!!!...........sorry haven't played with to many 60 series.
  17. Vlad check the trailer brake valve on the steering wheel shaft, is it partly applying also does it change if the park brakes are set or released? the mid 80's r mods. would turn on the brake lights if park brake is set and key is on.
  18. search: prosteering in Portland ore. they have a online catalog and also the info on how to identify.
  19. AAAWWWWW a cat and dog story!! sorry Mike couldn't help my self. BTW great pic. now that your famous don't forget us little guys.
  20. back to the ih engines for a moment I didn't see mention of the 549 v8, the apple warehouse that I worked for had a couple fleetstars one the 549 one a 555 cummins the 549 was a real work horse I was running a ford L 800 with a 534 and it was a good horse race with the two gas pots pulling a 6% grade we also had a r190 with I think the 406. nice o'l truck for its age. they ran those trucks into the mid. 90's
  21. nice thing about that set up, you can run it and check it out all while standing along side of the truck. just keep BODY PARTS OUT OF THE FAN with eng. at idle you can turn the steering shaft to dead head the steering box in either direction and watch for leaks (a mirror could be handy) to figure out if its a hose or seal leaking.
  22. better in a cab over! as I understand mack used the same mount in both styles
  23. nasty: does it have a dynatard eng. brake? if not its the same as a gas eng. for the valve adjustments firing order the same so if the clearance is listed on the valve cover grab any automotive manual and follow the inline 6 valve adjustment procedure. if it has a dynatard some one on here I'm sure will help you out.
  24. boy don't show that to any terrorists, we will never buy a pound of fertilizer again!
  25. might be a 8v71 could be used on a bigger boat or the same boat in worse weather!
