  1. nasty: I'm assuming that they are manual boxes and not air assisted? if air assist you could have a leaky shift cylinder pressurizing the trans case thus forcing oil out.
  2. not to mention the slips and falls from random oil puddles all over the damn place!
  3. Leslie my 89 goes from the comp. to wet tank then to pri. drivers side, sec. tank is two compartment. to confirm pri and sec. open the drain cock and watch gauge green = pri red = sec. and yes all compressed air goes to dryer
  4. IMPRESSIVE! but I don't know which is more rare a shop with a tile floor or a shop built sleeper that better than factory
  5. try a $25.00 governor first, if you don't see your air pressure gauge move it sounds more like a gov. issue as said before the comp. should build air to 120-130 psi then the air dryer should pop, air should be able to be depleted to 90-110 then the comp should again start building air and the cycle repeats
  6. well we wont have to send Guido to visit JT, he has a Detroit diesel so when he gets pissed off and makes a boat anchor out of it we just have to tie him to it. lol
  7. most of the vintage stuff is pretty generic the question is will it be a cup seal or chevron ? if a cup you will have to remove the end cap as well to access the seal. as I said before raise and securely block the bed/hoist then remove hyd. pressure by moving the raise / lower lever with the pto disengaged several times once this is done the cyl. rod should be loose on the mounting pins , then loosen the packing nut and remove then with a seal pick and flash lite gently dig at the seal. if it is chevron it should move without too much effort (depending how much rust is present in the bore) if there is a significant amount of thread on the packing nut would also make me think its a packing gland (like chevron or pump packing) if less than a 1 in. of thread most likely a cup seal style and the end cap most likely will have to be removed to fix the leak.
  8. un do the 1/4 in line that trips the purge valve and see if this fixes the problem! it could be the air governor is having a spasm the other way to check the dryer is take shop air and blow into the trip line if dryer trips each time air is applied it's working right. and the problem is elsewhere in the air system.
  9. mine will do that when the eng.is not yet up to temp. I have not cut one apart but I would think that there is a internal piston that the solenoid "moves" so a scored bore or a weak return spring could be at fault.
  10. I think Disney probably beat you to mouse insurance idea!
  11. dog gone it Paul I was having a good day till I read that post! but that makes perfect sense given the condition, This man is a genius at making it look like he's doing nothing while putting all the pieces in place.
  12. yep just like my 88 chev 1 ton 4x4 454 a 4 in. rock stops it dead in its tracks.
  13. just the packing nut no need to remove the big plate , if the oil leak is from around the shaft this should fix it .if chevron packing cut the packing at a 45 then install into the bore then cut the next piece rotate cut lines 180 from the first one then re install packing nut
  14. given the age and style of that unit I will bet that it uses leather cup seals or leather chevron packing. The rod seals I'd bet are chevron and could be replaced with out removal of the rod assembly. you should be able to block the box up then release hyd.pressure then back off the packing nut measure the shaft and bore dia. then get some chevron or pump packing install into bore and tighten the nut until leak quits
  15. makes you wonder what type of caustic environment that truck ran in, that a green leaker couldn't protect it!
  16. damn I'm thinking I gotta get out of flat bedding because of lack of exercise 4 cables and 5 straps then sit on my ass for 4.5 hours then repeat ! but if I had to tarp I'd be crying. I hope letting the pete go cuts the stress level down for ya, the hardest thing I do now is throw straps 13.6 high, well with the good shoulder most of the time anyway been thinking about you while running I 82 between Yakama and Ellensburg Monson fruit dock in Selah WA. 80 bins 96,000 gross
  17. maybe the pink that don't stink!
  18. looks like the Yardoman family tuckster ! sheeeeeee's a bute Randy
  19. very nice! my 89 was painted that metallic royal blue from the factory also, I probably should have went back to that color instead of red but too late now.
  20. Paul that's a pretty strong statement ! I would think just a little dementia like he thinks he's in Kenya . and we make it happen Just my thoughts
  21. can do it will be a few days thou, still hauling apples for the next week or so
  22. I think I like him better when he just golfs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Ken did you read the label on the fresh cab? if I remember right its one bag per 7 cubic foot, and you probably have 70 cubic feet in that cab so 10 bags! .................doubt you can stay in the cab with that many! sorry to hear the little bastards are back. may be time to repower with a cat :that will keep em away
  24. this is the only picture I have handy of a red ford, I bought this 80 used in 84 and drove it every day until 2002 then semi retired it in 280,000 miles it never made me walk! have two other red fords a 48 f-6 flatbed dump and a 64 f 856 super duty 4-5 yd dump 534-5x2
  25. check all the above mentioned stuff also how much boost or manifold pressure are you building? a plugged charge air cooler , a plugged air cleaner, or a leak in the charge air cooler or piping will cause this. or for some reason you are over fueling. start with the simple stuff first.
