  1. Billy, you make some good points. A few issues come to mind. Driving the truck is the easy part. But have you ever driven with a difficult load? I'm checking and tightening chains every few hundred kms. Also, I grabbed a liner last year in my truck. Not one engine light came on, but I could hear a difference in the way my engine sounded. And noticed it was breathing heavy. An autonomous vehicle would have destroyed that engine. Tyres are something I check multiple times a day. And what about all the pretty girls that break down on the side of the road? An autonomous truck would drive straight past them.
  2. You wouldn't have to worry about too much black smoke with flames like that!
  3. I'll be honest with you... I was thinking of different kind of suspenders. My bad.
  4. Could be you have low revving engine. E6300L will only rev to 1700 I think. But you can raise that by playing with the pump. Don't ask me how, I wouldn't have a clue but I read it somewhere on this site.
  5. Can you fit an air to air intercooler in front of that beast? I was told that helps them get going.
  6. Some have rubber bushes, some have brass. Some have hollow tubes, some are solid. From what I've seen just by looking around is rubber bushes on hollow tube and brass on solid tube. Not sure if this is strictly the case. Springs are best identified by the part number.
  7. Looks great! You should do a video so we can hear it. I've been debating whether to remove my muffler. I've only gotta little short one mounted down next to the gearbox.
  8. So long as you enjoy what your doing, you'll never work a day in your life!
  9. Volvo Australia doesn't sell a conventional truck, they have Mack for that. I don't think they would let Mack have a COE because that would be intruding on their territory.
  10. What can I say mate, that's a pretty shitty turn of events. Hope all turns out ok, and hope you can get back in the superliner soon.
  11. It looks a lot more loved than the first pics. Keep at the good work.
  12. I'm not an expert but we use scotch brite pads to scuff up paint before respraying. Doesn't really do any damage to a painted surface, so I would of thought a metal surface would of been even less risk. Just my thoughts.
  13. I couldn't see the bumper for all the steel in the way😉
  14. That is gonna be a fantastic when it's done. Looking awesome already. Dunno how you guys get it done so quick. Anyway it's good inspiration for me to get cracking on mine so thanks for that.
  15. I think pai make almost every part for an e6. I will support them as much as I can.
  16. I'm disappointed by this news but not surprised. The modern truck driver is barely a man. Some of the silly things they complain about. Anyway, we here all have our old macks and that's what's most important, preserving a piece of Mack history.
  17. You know, I don't think most people would block sand that big of a job. But your going the whole 9 yards with it, and the results will be awesome. Just keep plugging away.
  18. Thanks Truck shop mate. When it was built I requested a brand new cylinder head for that reason. And they counter bored it for liner height. Which is why I'm wondering about the spacer plate if I should just get a new one.
  19. It's had a full rebuild, new head and injectors. Yeah this one has a steel spacer plate. When loaded up this would use 16l (4 gallons) of coolant in about 300kms. Unhitched my trailers and bobtailed home and didn't use a drop so it only using it loaded. It's warranty job but it's been in the shop for 2 weeks and they have to pull head off again.
  20. Having my own cat issues at the moment. Has failed bottle test after new head gasket. Is it common practice to replace spacer plate on c15 when doing head or rebuild?
  21. Haha, that's funny as. Sums up freightliner pretty well.
  22. I'd say that's a lot of guys dream truck. On the subject of twin air intakes, thomastractorsvc picked up one recently with them also. It really sets them off.
  23. Good on Mazda. Electric vehicles are still a long way off and it's good to see a bit of r&d go into the internal combustion engine. Can is run on any fuel? Or does it need a higher octane rating?
