  1. Looks awesome, better than a new one! Good job mate!
  2. That particular one was about 3-4mins.
  3. Id have a guess that the 3406b was only available in the superliner... And the US superliner didn't use the r model chassis. There was a guy in Perth and a member on this forum who built a rubber duck replica and ended up putting a 3406b in it. So it can definitely be done.
  4. The black ones are what comes standard on most trucks down here. If you wanna dress your ride up a bit people put stainless ones on them.
  5. Could you fabricate the cat mount into the Mack crossmember? Alternatively, I bet there were lots of Macks in the USA that came out with a cat. Maybe some helpful folks on here could point you in right direction? What macks in the USA used a cat engine and r model chassis?
  6. I definitely don't think they are worth $1.2 mil. But if I owned one, I definitely would think it was worth $1.2 mil. I'm a walking contradiction. Thats my 2c.
  7. Nice trucks! At a previous job we had an Isuzu and used to deliver furniture and white goods. The abuse I witnessed that poor truck receive speaks volumes for their build.
  8. You know what, in the world of increasing emissions controls I would think the opposite would be the norm. For example, in an egr engine, the egr valve is closed under full load. And an scr equipped vehicle uses less ad blue when it works. So the harder the engine is working the cleaner it is. And I believe 8hp/t is a bit rich. So to pull 100t you'd need 800hp?
  9. You said it sister, if you gear an mp8 right then it could easily pull that much.
  10. I thought the 3408 was bigger than the e9. 18L vs 16.4L respectively. What degree is 3408, 60? 90? I think if your idling around you won't get as much out of the v8. Maybe straight pipes on the 300, and like what has been said, some dress up gear.
  11. How would lock-n-stitch go in a working engine? I've only seen it in videos of show cars
  12. His profile says he is building an R700. Could you fit a 3406 and an air to air intercooler in an R700? That bonnet (hood) is about 12inches longer right?
  13. Is there any stamp duty or taxes on new vehicle purchases in your area? Another thing to keep in mind.
  14. Bump means he is bumping it back up the list to be more easily seen. Or so I'm lead to believe.
  15. Looks tighter than OJ's gloves!
  16. I think with a little extra maintenance you can mechanically keep your older truck running. I keep a book in my truck with everything I've really laced recently and I use that to help with preventative maintenance. Rust on the other hand is probably worse than mechanical issues. Chances are it will keep coming back and repairs can take longer. Just something to think about, I like the idea of running older trucks but at the end of the day it's a job and you don't wanna work anymore than you need too.
  17. Sounds sweet! Thanks for doing that, I love watching old macks on YouTube.
  18. She is a big girl! Nice looking rig. I had a mate who put new springs on the front as well and he had to adjust steering wheel after a while. I think I'd try what swishy says, or use a puller of some sort and use some rags to protect the steer wheel edges.
  19. Has it had new front springs at some stage? On mine I found when I installed new springs and after they settled in it moved to wheel off centre a bit. Are there bump stops for when your at full lock? If it's touching on both sides when you turn then I would think it's ok and just wheel position.
  20. Brocky, if you have any Aussie $10 notes left then take a magnifying glass to it. Behind Banjo Patterson is some lines. But if you look close you will see it's words to his poem the man from snowy river.
  21. Well, on paper it sounds like a great thing. I guess time will tell in the end. Will it be using ad blue?
  22. I'll send him an Aussie $50, just not sure he will be able to spend it. Its a great thought though and I'll definitely do my bit to help out.
  23. I've spoke to a few guys in the mining industry and they told me the Komatsu dumps trucks are autonomous and are going great. In fact they are better than the driven ones, as they can be programmed to run 12 inches wider than the previous truck. It saves wear on the haul roads. But that's a completely different scenario.
  24. Ok, I exaggerated a bit when I said pretty. But im 90% sure they were girls and I certainly didn't tamper with their car... much.
