  1. Would there be a difference between western Mack and typical Mack? A normal R chassis was wider at front so maybe engine sat a little lower? However maybe your Mack was on an R model chassis and my therory is debunked already...
  2. Back in the mid 90's my dad ran a 76 Kenworth with an 8v92 detroit. He upgraded to a 91 Mack with an e7 400. He saved $700 a week in fuel. Truck repayments were $2000 a month. It was a free truck!
  3. Click away my friend. Also if your handy with a google machine you can google dw clutch chart and put cummins, cat, Detroit, Mack, international and they will have a chart for you. http://www.dwclutch.com/D&W/D&W Clutch & Brake 2/MACK TORQUE.pdf
  4. Well that was advertised in Aus, so the price would include shipping and import tax which is 10%. I think $25-27k US would be close to the mark.
  5. Doing some digging up of old stuff here but got lots of Mack brochures and spec sheets for Christmas. Found this interesting pic of what they call an A8 R897. It's a big Mack that's for sure.
  6. Says they are brand new... so I'm guessing they come with a warranty? For what it's worth, we priced up a new cummins signature about 6 months ago. $53,000 through cummins and $48,000 through our local Kenworth dealer.
  7. I'm not 100% on this, but I think the Mack torque figures were close to that of cummins, but obviously out of a smaller engine. These are two charts from dw clutch. They say that the e6 350 put out more torque than the ntc400 cummins. Whether they are accurate or not I'm not sure, but it gives you an idea
  8. Has that been raised? It looks a lot higher than it's stable mate. But the gap between the wheel and the bonnet is similar to that if the Aussie ones.
  9. Seen this advertised locally in Australia but engines are located in the US. It's the quad turbo version which I have seen a little bit of info on here before. Wonder how he got them? Anyway, would be a good one for the collection. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/1135748968?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=social&utm_source=sms That price is Aus dollar.
  10. G'day Blue. Nice looking truck mate. Plenty of knowledge here and plenty of friendly people who are always up for a chat.
  11. Vlad, that's a nice looking tank. I think ranch hopper is right, if it's never been polished before then you might need to sand it back first. We were lucky as most of the aluminium on our trucks was polished at the factory so it's just maintaining it. And a lot of it is trial and error.
  12. I just ordered off their website. They are based in the USA, so it's probably easier for you guys to get it. They have a few YouTube videos so you can pick it up pretty easy.
  13. Welcome to big Mack trucks. There are lots of guys here who will hopefully help you out. We have had new turbos on cummins and cat which needed the wastegate adjusted. They will tell you it's within spec but the range can be quite wide. Anyway, best of luck with it.
  14. All is welcome. Very noticeable difference! It's dirty work but worth it for end result.
  15. Yeah it's a great product and easy to use. I used a 9" angle grinder cause to get desired results you need 6000rpm. Most polishers only go to 3000rpm. You have to hold on tight! Sure has some kick.
  16. I want to ad that I have experienced probably the best customer service from these guys too. Here is a pic of my brothers fuel tanks.
  17. Just thought I'd share some pics and details for anyone interested. We recently purchased a DC super shine polishing kit. It's well worth the money! We just polished up a 20 yo bullbar and the results are pretty good. Was pretty pitted but a quick sand back gave it a nice clean look. We could of sanded it back more but it's a working truck. Started at 400 then 800 then pre polish orange wheel and compound followed by white wheel and matching compound.
  18. Gotta take my hat off to some blokes, they can piece together some works of art.
  19. It's Purrrrfect! Not one thing I'd change on it, oh maybe put my name on the door😉
  20. I live down the road from a Harley Davidson shop and I love some of the colours they use. Might be worth flicking through a catalogue.
  21. My truck would do something similar. If I parked on a lean the fuel would run to opposite side to pick up. Problem was my pick up tube was cracked. Hopefully yours is as simple as that.
  22. Wow, yes they are completely different. Would make climbing into the bunk an excercise!
  23. I will have to have a look see at how the American F dash is. KS, I can see the similarities between the old Leaders and the f models. By memory, I think the Leader featured a fibreglass cab too?
