  1. That Hayes is a fine looking truck! I'm not a fire fan but glad to see that Seagrave with Columbus Ohio on the badge...we're proud of the long heritage we have for manufacturing apparatus (and still make Sutphen and Horton here).
  2. Well, I got some more brackets and such removed and I found some heavy rust on the frame rails. They will probably suffice since this will just be a hobby truck, but I'd really like to replace them...does anybody know where I can get new or good used rails for an H67 tandem? I don't want to splice them. Second question: how do you remove the buck rivets in the crossmembers? I cut the head off one but the shank is swelled in the hole so it won't drive out.
  3. The bushings are 1.125" id, 2.125" od, 2.375" wide. In the photo, you can see the rubber has worn away on one side. If anybody has any suggestions for a source, I'd appreciate it!
  4. After you remove the bolt, drive a chisel in the gap to spread it, then spray with PB blaster and tap all around it to spread the oil around. I ground some grooves in the sides of the chisel to give it grip (it will pop right out if you don't).

    Battery

Are all the cables there? My truck has a series/parallel switch; if your truck has one I don't know if 3 batteries would work. You could read the voltage tag on the starter to see if it's 12 or 24 volts.
  6. Is that the original bumper or where did you get it?
  7. What a sad story. Cat engines had a great reputation in the US a couple of decades ago. Sounds like some mismanagement in Peoria - er - wherever they're moving their headquarters.
  8. An old Mack in a July 4th parade...now that's America!
  9. Regarding your photo uploads, have you tried dragging your pics to the box under your post? It works great on Firefox.
  10. Do you know what those things are being pulled by the tractors?
  11. His pinky finger accidentally hit the zero 3 times instead of 2. https://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/6196720714.html
  12. "Very rusty" is right...that's too bad because those old 4000's are good-looking trucks.
  13. Maybe the driver's seat has a toilet built in.
  14. That heavy hauler is a super nice truck but the H is suweeet!
  15. Is that an air horn valve hanging by the door hinge? I've never seen one like that.
  16. Do these keep the air pressure correct in the tires?
  17. B MACK, that is a nice-looking B71!
  18. Some nice looking old trucks there! Sounds like a tough road to handle.
  19. Pulled the cab off my tandem this weekend; it went better than I expected. I was worried about getting the pivot bar out of the frame and spring hangers, thankfully it was only seized in the LF spring hanger. I heated it up, alternating with sprays of Pee Blaster, and a little sledge-o-matic persuaded it to come out. If anybody has an idea where I can get new pivot bushings, let me know...they are steel sleeves pressed onto a rubber donut.
  20. What do you use to polish the tanks? I've got a couple that I'd like to polish.
  21. I didn't know they offered a heavy automatic in 1965.
  22. Under the spreading chestnut-tree...
  23. Beautiful truck, but $30k is out of my budget. Website wouldn't let me copy picture. https://aths.org/advertising-with-aths/AdBuilder/List
