  1. This resonant ride condition was a bit of an issue on the v8 with the ambac pump as well! The fix was a light spring om the right side rack acted as a damper for this condition ! I have never run into it on any Vmac Pumps entirly possible thou!
  2. AGREE ! Doing it once is best! Valve set 1-6 2-5 3-4 on those marks in engine rotation in firing order! Getting up and down 6 times is better than the alternative ! Just sayin!
  3. The The technique is simple enough .you want the clutch brake to engage right before the pedal hits the stop in the cab aprox 1/2 inch off the floor this can be adjusted via the clevises at either end of the cable or by the sloted clutch arm on the side of the trans! once adjusted then proceed to the inside adjustment!
  4. Yup If it does not have a solo clutch its the same! Remember to check / set the clutch brake first via the cable / linkage!
  5. Yup He's the MAN!
  6. Not Worth taking a chance on in my mind! don't care how much you saved!Money better spent buying the proper part! The reliefs are there for a reason!
  7. GOOD JOB!
  8. Kind of an odd issue !These have had water pump impeller issues before! Might be worth a stab in the dark to replace the water pump! Just a thought! Also when the cups were replaced did they do the stat?If the coolant gets contaminated by fuel it ruins All the orings on the coolant side of the engine pretty much!
  9. remove the forward tube on the EGR cooler (quick and easy check ) see if its damp in there! Before chasing the compressor ! Just my opinion!
  10. Have you had the egre cooler replaced at anytime?
  11. Have you checked your valve set?If not do so! This can be injector noise it can be signs of a bad lifter! a push rod spinning could mean a bad lifter although the rods will spin normally to some degree! Check your pan plug lossen it a couple of turns if it feels like gravel on the threads you may have a lifter failed!
  12. Agree ! When ever we take these apart we use red loctite to reassemble them on any bolts susceptible to coming loose period! However its only part of the issue resolved! And they did redesign the output yoke and made it worse! installed behind any High torque engine like the ISX the tail shaft had tappered roller bearings and a crush sleave! That turned out to be another Big mistake! and now Mack pro you don't got to worry they won't be able to order any manual tranys ! Probably A good thing!
  13. Building dependable things is not good for business ! You need to sell parts and service! Best way to do that is build cheap shit! with cheap ass sensors and parts!
  14. Yup even caught up to the farming equipment with this crap.. it would not be so bad if they could make it reliable !
  15. Ain't nothing left to sell ! A Cab and hood would be a tough sell to anyone in my mind! Hollowed OUT!
  16. Agree good job Bud! AND Yup Merry Christmas to all!

    Seen on YouTube:

Pretty tough to beat an E9 V8 for starting in cold weather Usually will start after to or three turns and not be smudging the neighborhood with smoke either!
  18. They are glad to replace them How ever as per usual like any warranty, that don't pay for the customers down time or inconvenience Nor does it help as you stated! It becomes a me problem as, I have to listen to the whining ! So Why Bother ? to answer Jims question in the case of starters and alternators ! Delco reman or new! OR have your own parts redone at a reputable starter / alt rebuilder !The hard parts so far with the exception of the clutches as was noted earlier . have been OK ! Electrical stuff not so much!
  19. Had our first return of an alternator yesterday Lasted A month ! Put it next to the big pile of starters in the warranty Bin! Makes us look like fools in my mind, for not offering branded stuff as well! I believe if offered the choice the customer would pick longevity over price! Dollarstore shit!
  20. The cl 350 was Definitely built heavier than pacific or Hayes! I believe! I heard back in the day, one of the Hayes engineers was recruited to design the cl 350 after Hayes was bought up by Mack! Some where in between, The F model Cab was used for several years on the Hayes Cabover units as well ! On the CL350 We took out v12s transplanted e9 v8's in a few of these units blew the doors off the jimmys for fuel consumption Apparently paid for the swap with in 2 years or so in fuel savings and power! Draw back was the engine brake! Allison retarder worked very well on these behind the v12 for the billy goat trails they were operated on! Unfortunately Because of the torque output on the V8 we weren't able to install the Allison at the time !I believe Allison corrected this later on thou!
  21. On The manual side ! Pretty tough to beat a meritor diff and fuller trans combo for longevity! they ruined the mack diff this last "Improvement" they did !
  22. Signal really did little harm Nor did Renault These Volvo Turds Are doing there Damnedest to screw it up! Though This trans thing was going to happen anyway as all manufactures attempt to create dumber drivers , captivate parts, integrate drivelines ( in the name of the environment) and fuel mileage . Its bound to happen! I've not been a huge fan of Mack Trans since the 12 speed ended , Due to the pricing, cost of repair ect ! It seems that everything these guys attempt to do with brand tends to make it less attractive !
  23. I find it odd that you would build a Truck with an MP7 most people Here pull pups or 4 axle wagons! Why limit the horse power ! I realize their area is semi prairie flat ! However! IT looks OK as As a dump spec! kinda surprised!
  24. yes you can change the pump do replace the bolts when u do it ! How ever the calibration codes need to be installed in the ECU by the dealer once you have replaced it!
  25. It would appear Rob Has an angel following him around! Can you Even imagine the out come had that happened @ 70 miles an hour! You should be buying lottery tickets bro! I have seen Brand spankin new OEM Steering parts go bad in 6 months as Glenn mentioned ! I think Shit happpens sometimes I guess! ! I had none Related part failure once Replaced a timing chain on a 79 400 ford once 1 month prior to holiday ! packed up the wife and kids and headed for Idaho stayed in Emmit for a week or so on the way back climbing a hill in BC here Just out side Revelstoke And THE DAM THING QUIT that shininey new jobber timming chain Broke ! I got to keep it no warrenty ! I swore off buying jobber stuff for a while after that how ever this shit happens even to OEM Stuff too !
