  1. So the trailer loading height was lower due to the shorter wheels? Giving more cubic feet of box since it was taller. Interesting.
  2. Isn't the same part for even later model stuff? 237/285/300? Should be available at local Mack dealer then? I just did the hammer trick to make a gasket for my compressor mount. Didn't want to go through the hassle of buying one at Mack, got some paper and made it. I've got a box full of random gaskets for a 673. Can't guarantee there are ones in it? I can look around if you like. Not really sure what they look like or the sizes(as my 673 is all together). Can you post up nice full size pictures?
  3. Looks pretty nice for the money.
  4. One really, really slow 1/4 miles at a time. LOL!!! It only went 26.xx at 49 mph.............................LMAO!!!! Ya, real barn stormer............ Took my one friends wife for a ride down the track and she hopped in and was looking for the seat belt. I told here she went faster getting here in their motorhome then I will be going down the track.
  5. Huh? What? Um, it was only driven to church on sunday and never rac..................... Um, it was never raced........ Right. Nope. Not while I owned it. You'll never find any proof of that anywhere..............
  6. Ya, my work computer has Yahoo mail. All the ads on the sides are from Ebay or searches I've done(like cars.com). Ugh. They do put a little box on the ad that allows you to change the ad to something you might want. I've tried it. Still the same old shit shows up LOL! Oh, but they are trying to help us. Ya, right. Still haven't brought up any ads for Winfall Wimmin? What's up with that?
  7. Hey, if you need a motor, I got a sweet running 673 that will plop right down in there. Real penny pincher on fuel too. Doesn't really even use any oil and that ain't bad for a 60 year old motor.
  8. "Missed it by THAT much"..............
  9. I saw that fleet getting set up for the photograph at York. Very neat selection of trucks.
  10. Yup, just click on the box and pick FOR SALE or BUY.
  11. After doing some reading in my motor book I found they dont use valve stem seals. Interesting. Second it appears by the number I posted above I have the early small drive. The book notes that on rebuild to upgrade to wider drive coupler 461GC232. Kit #215SB107.
  12. 66rmack what is the part number on that? I unscrewed the cover off mine and found: 347GC215. Which is the narrow tang drive. I can't find any valve stem seals on my heads. The kit came with o rings but no grooves on the stem for them and no umbrella style seals to be found.
  13. Yardo you're holding back again. Tell us how you really feel?
  14. Yes it has fire rings. That part is handled. I was curious about the o rings(if that was what they were) around the water holes in the deck. I can get a picture. Was wondering if that was a factory style headgasket compared to the felpro. OK. I won't worry about the pump drive. Just thought I would ask if I could improve it. I saw Ron had posted to the other question and said there was a procedure to upgrade to later drive.
  15. I couldn't imagine actually changing all the oil on a locomotive engine!
  16. Thanks for the pictures. Now the $22000 question: can it be upgraded? Or just replace it and hope for the best for another 10-20 yrs? I got all winter(hopefully it is a short winter), but want to address this now.
  17. Ya, that's it. Mine does have the screw in plug for the pump. Guess I need to get it unscrewed and check it out. Can you adapt to newer set up?
  18. Ok, getting ready to put the heads back on my project motor. I found some nests in two cylinders and got them cleaned out. Scraped and cleaned the deck. Cleaned and re installed all the studs. Re tapped all the nuts. Going to put new valve stem seals next. One question. When removing the original headgaskets, it looked like it had rubber o rings around some of the water passages. The new Felpro gasket set doesn't include anything like that. I'm guessing the o rings were a factory only thing? The Felpro looks like any other typical car head gasket I'm familiar with, having the silicone rings around the water passages. This is a new game for me and don't want to have to do it twice. I did pull the cover off the pump just for a look see. Glad I did as I found two plungers stuck. Some finesse and some oil have all six going up/down like they are suppose to now. I remember reading a post just a month back or so about somebody having an issue with their early 237. Something about the coupler for the pump breaking? It is a weak design? I tried to search, but couldn't find the post. What should I look for to determine if mine has the same coupler? Remove the inspection plug at the coupler? If there is an upgrade I'd like to do it now so I don't have to deal with it someday later.
  19. Sounds like he got the deal he really wanted and took it. You know how the saying goes........."money talks". Bummer it wasn't in your favor.
  20. Ya, it is definitely a Krylon used car lot rebuild. Too bad. It might have actually been a relatively decent looking truck without all the new runs, drips and errors.
  21. But it comes with safety chain..........
  22. Heck of a lot better deal then the old Mack bus for $5K and stuck in the weeds.
  23. I use Ultra grey RTV on anything I need sealed up. I was petrified when I changed gears in my housing and had to silicone that thing and get it swung into the hole and bolted up without disturbing the silicone, etc. Still dry after 4 yrs. One thing I learned was put a thin coating on both sides, let tack and then stick together. Seems to bond better then just squirting it on one side and putting it together. Not much different then a lil old Ford 9", but just a LOT bigger and you can't just pick it up with your hands LOL.
  24. There was one similar to that around here about 10 some years back. Running and driveable, guy brought it to the race track for the weekend. Very cool. Full air ride, 673/5spd. Trying to find the pics I had. $5K for that mess? Uh, no.
  25. Love that ltl. Watch it on Lindsay's videos from way back. Good sounding iron lung! Very classy large car from back in the day.
