Can't say that I have ever seen a 700 series U model. Would be nice if there was some more pictures and specs. Probably a pretty scarce truck. Not mine. Just reposting and passing along a Marketplace listing I thought was interesting. It looks slightly different than the 600 series U models I have seen. The front fenders and grille look to be about 4"-6" taller.

i think roadway hadda bunch of them,,,thanks for that,,bob

I thought that Roadway had Detroit engines, whereas as Lexington, South Carolina-based Southeastern had Cummins, what with Cummins being popular in the Carolinas.

Curious what engine is in it.  Gerhart's has a Cummins.  That's the only one I've seen.  Besides the tall hood they used the shallow cab

If it is a gold dog on the front which it says it is then I would imagine it's Maxidyne

 Guessing a 5 speed and it's on 44 rears

Would imagine it's 6 cylinder but there's no reason it couldn't be a V8 Mack, so 325 V8 is possible

Would of thought it would have a V8 badge on the side of the bonnet if it was

Still is a different looking ride to me, certainly would be interesting bob tail

Looks like 20 inch rims with maybe 12.00 tyres, or maybe 11.00

Certianly doesn't look like 10.00 x 20's

I have no idea about the mileage, wouldn't be many cars or farm utes of that age with so few miles, l can't imagine a truck staying so young

Tyres would still possibly have factory air in them ha ha

I reckon it's a ripper truck

It has a chrome dog, and thus a vendor engine.

If I had to guess, a U747ST with a 350 Cummins.

we had 3 U700 short frame tandem tractors back in 79 at Kings supermarkets.

rode like crap no trailer, but they were great in the city. 327 5 speed trucks.

That gold bulldog must have came with the same can as the gold grill and headlight trim.  Would be interesting to know more about this truck though. I remember a local concrete plant had one ( where's Steve S ) If I remember correctly it was a single drive, tandem taper leaf suspenssion and a V6 Detroit.  U700s must all be some interesting combination of components 🤷‍♂️  Interesting truck just the same.

Don’t know, man I’m confused. Mack salesman told me a long time ago if it had a gold bulldog, the driveline was all Mack lol getting different stories here seems I do remember they only use them a few years kind of came and went either way. I would like to have that one. Mrs mower I’m sure it has a different opinion ha ha… bob
