Popular Post fxfymn Posted December 11, 2016 Popular Post Share Posted December 11, 2016 I know it is a little early to be talking about Macungie, but I made hotel reservations yesterday and I was quite surprised to find that the hotel had only 2 rooms left for that weekend. I booked at the Hawthorn Suites in Fogelsville near I-78 which has been a popular spot for show goers because of it's rates and large parking lot. If you are planning on going this year you may want to make your reservations sooner rather than later. In past years there have been other events going on in the area such as soccer tournaments which may explain why rooms are already being booked up. As Doug Maney says "It is the greatest truck show on earth." It would be a shame to miss it because you cannot find a room. I know it has not in the past because I stayed a Saturday night and then saw about 3 trucks at the park making preparations to leave. They say it's due to construction but the timing also fits that the new Mack Highway truck being unveiled to sales forces in the 3rd 1/4 of 2017 may be in the building at the time. The museum will be open with the ability to drive over to visit and no busing available from the show grounds. Still worth the trip south. Many show up on Thursday and most leave on Saturday afternoon. Friday night is the "family reunion" foodfest. Reserve your wrist bands so you can get in the line early. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and not be "mudcungie". Safe travels. Who is planning to be at the show? Bob, We were there today and parked across Rt100 from the show at the fire station. lt cost $4.00 and it's a 5 min walk. Hope to see you there tomorrow.
