  1. There's Timken drive axle at front. Wonder about the transfer case, suggest Timken either. And it seems to me they don't put the cab much higher but lowered the front fenders.
  2. Hope you'll go smooth through al the story. Would like to see a progress. And just forgot to mention, I'm agree on the black with red strips paint scheme idea. Would look cool on my mind.
  3. Neil, thank you for the great explanations. Now I can see both the original front axle setup's had rubber pads, neither spring shakles and so on.
  4. As said above! Do you have any pics of the Lanova off it? I'm almost in love with them and see no way to divorce until I get my one running. Vlad
  5. I might be more lucky being born already learned of what OTR is..
  6. Wow, I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing, ran out of likes for now.
  7. Fingers crossed Rowdy. Today checking the local email site I read about the flood in St Louis area and thought to myself there was nothing on BMT about it. Now I found out what I've missed. My hopes for the best for you.
  8. 3 axles for tandem is how we count it here. And in Europe also. Diffirent L's had some different hanger styles along the years but they looked similar in general. All the LT's I was able to put my nose close to looked like an almost different truck about the chassis. I checked out no less than 10 vehicles. For instance the well known blue example at Mahan's has the front springs wich look much more as a R-model 3 leaf setup. Although I'm just not shure it was from the factory.
  9. Yes, he does.
  10. I"m not a firetruck specialist but from what said I agree on the matter of "something simple". Those shop guys seem "too high cualified diesel techs" to not be able figure out a gasser issue or as was mentioned above have no much interest in bringing the truck to life. Too might be the both reasons. I'd try to take a look to a common mechanic who just used to deal with old Camaro's or other big carb gas cars. That sure is truck and with a complicated engine but the general princips are almost the same. I'd do it right at the yard it is now for first, to not spend cash on towing. By the word from your point that it was running and and then didn't start after some storage while it might be just a gas quality issue. And would say it's a nice looking truck, I too hope you'll not have to sell it. Vlad
  11. I put muself down on my knees with a camera many times to look underneeth of LJ's and LT's and was every time surprized by seeing almost different spring hangers, side step brackets and so on on LT's. It looked like someone rebuilt them with newer or different truck's components but to the moment I met no exception.
  12. As far as i remember they both were chain driven and were described as the two unique the first and the last of the same serie. I might be wrong since was almost brain stormed being there. But almost close to those two trucks one more exotic unit was parked - a chain driven FP with a E-serie cab. So it looked like Gary Mahan put them all in the order.
  13. Jim, is your answer related to all 2V's or except EM6's?
  14. Happy New Year BMT!
  15. These two are in generally original condition or might just get some freshening up during the years. If I understood correctly they were the very first and the last trucks of the serie.

  17. Hope they will afford the production of that new model. Or better to say just have enough orders for. Looks like many foreign componets are used including cab and engine. KraZ has difficult times for many years. Together with all Ukrainian economy. By the word KrAZ factory has historical museum with some restored trucks. You can see the most of them here. Sorry, looks like no version in English http://mirtransporta.ru/fun/694-zavodskaya-kollekciya-muzey-kraza.html
  18. Your point about using as much parts off a shelf makes sence.
  19. On my mind it was the best offer on a AC I ever heard. It had the most or all of the original paint.
  20. Mike, is that tandem or a single axle? I'm close to promise to myself to not drool over purchasing any more trucks until I end up with at least one completely restored but sometimes it's difficult to withstand.
  21. Harrybarbon, thanks again for the detailed answer. With that lot of info and advices to use the Lizard Skin crue should send you a bonus set of their product to cover the advertizement work Sure just kidding. I will try to get and test it. Just difficult to imagine the fry pan effect. Our world is full of frustrations but from what you said it must be a great stuff.
  22. That's cool you continue to track down the progress in the same tread. Congrats on the purchase! Nice looking truck. On my mind it might be kept in dark blue (or darker than now) to keep its originalyty and match the fleet with a little exception. And welcome to the forum! Vlad
  23. Did you brows the Bart's book recently? Forgot to let you know. My Dutch friend has very sharp memory along that book. He pointed me out to one interesting fact. If you check out the page 138, at the top right you can see the picture of Mack NR with a crane in Canada dated 1988. That's exactly the one of those 3 trucks wich Mike Yarnall showed out as "3 for Vlad" a couple weeks back. NR1 is a cool looking truck. Along my research I came to conclusion NR's had the same front axle as pre-war B-series Macks. Probably many other components off there either. That very early one with the old style cab doesn't have anything in common with L-model. At least from its look. I've never heard about any one survived.
  24. I didn't have time enough to walk all over that threasure planet. If I saw that thing I might hang up there for some long while and not shure I'd go off without the deal done. Seems too rough though.
