I checked out E6 overhaul manual and found out I've understood the things a bit wrong. They indeed prescribe to hone liners after pressing them in but to get a slightly "diamond criss-cross pattern surface". I.e. not to correct their shape for the reason of perfection. I just used to suppose that dry, thin walled liners requre shape-in after pressing into a block what means machining and honing. Wet ones are a different story. So Mack E6 surprizes me. My plan is to sandblast and paint the bare block. If I need to hone it I should do it before that. If I can just put liners in at my shop I would paint it first. Thank you for the advices folks.

Not all Mack triple countershafts were the same. There were two generations of them - T107 and T200. Both were designed with triple countershafts but had different body styles and too probably different insides. Sorry I don't know anything about PTO's they used.

Ufff... Sounds like I missed something about the news. I'm not much with media and have absolutely no TV avoiding "fontains of crap". But follow news in general in the net and don't remember anything about what you mentioned. Kiev is a nice city, I was to a couple of times in the past. Not a good time for Russians to make a trip there right now though. Damn political games... I would note about Muslims that there's a lot of them around overhere and they were in the past either. Actually not all of them are so radical, many good folks and friendly. Many became less religious living tight in modern civilized society. For example my sister is married with the guy who is from Muslim family. But it seems to me he's actually not in trust at all. But thoose Middle East peoples seem too poor and hungry being such ugly and agressive. Their trust just helps them to be that way. One more point about Muslim religion. I was told many times and it's not difficult to figure out that religion produces strong society. It sure might be agressive and so on but it's much stronger as a nation as for example Christians use to be. Civilized folks don't accept shortage of rights to a women and many other public restrictions. Although that makes a Muslim family much more stable and possible to born and grow multyple kids. That's generally why those folks are so large about population. Interesting moment with Muslim women who should cover some or every parts of her bodies being on public. And the same about porn restriction. The matter is when a woman attracts a man a mother nature means it's to produce kids. But women are clever and don't allow a man to get her easily. Man has to do alot for, get stressed, might get nerved and finally might not get a woman at all. A modern woman can easily recive alot of gooddies from lots of men and finally have no kids at all. On the other hand a man might watch porns or buy sex and has much less reasons to fight for a woman. That's part of our modern democracy. But that doesn't produce stable and increasing society. Muslims seem stronger and more powerful as a society that way. I think we should take it to account. At least to understand. -
Thank you for the suggestion David. I just once heard (on here?) than not everything is good with PAI parts and that makes some doubts. Should I hone liners after they're in the block or just put pistons in and follow assembly?

The most thing I always say after being there is beautiful people. The most everybody I met was glad to pay attention, show out interesting things and eager to help if needed. Love the country sights. The land is beautiful and seemed great in size. I tried my best to see some different parts of it being limited in time. Made about 1500 miles drive through PA, NY and CT. But after looking the map it seemed like I was just wobbling in a corner Hope to travel more in the future. Not sure when I'll be able to though. Was surprized a bit of relatively slow speed limit on generally empty and perfect roads. Would be over relaxed and sleepy driving a fast car or a sport bike. Finally got into conclusion the best thing to travel with would be a truck -
Some while back I found E6-350 factory rebuilt engine with no miles but with rust inside due to the poor storage. Would like to get it back to life and need 6 new 0.20 repair size liners. I checked out local part stores and was offered with PAI ones for $50 each together with shipping and so on. That seemed fair to me. Just wonder how good about quality could they be?

Yes, I did it once. And met a lot of nice folks with whom you use to make talks on here. The only trouble I had to park my car at my friend's yard in Holland since there was no land way to cross Athlantic Got a look on Niagara Falls either and catched some PA local roads with no cell phone signals -

Those two bucks were well spent. Thank you for sharing the old day pics. -
Not sure I'll be able to test Lizard skin the other day so here's a question - does it differ much from any common poliurethane underbody coat?

Yes, that is one cool truck indeed. Not too extraordinar color scheme but makes it look nice. Those mirror-like headlights took my attention so I got up close to check them out. The picture is from Macungie 2013, the only time I saw that rig in person. Unfortunately you guys aren't on an hour long distance to come visit -
WANT TO BUY Old style superliner turn signals needed
Vladislav replied to ranchhopper's topic in Parts Wanted
Threre were many talks about them before, during at least 5 years while I'm on here. Sad but nothing good was told on the matter. -
I liked the note of how they (big tires) "help out the ride" and "help the over all performance" Tom, thank you for the pictures! Just ran out of likes already.

What gears are you going to get rid of? I'd be interested in a set off a B model of about 5.5 - 6.5. Any speed is a trip per time. Your wheel makes a trip doing a turn. Every turn it makes it's overall outside diameter x3.14. Or just turn a scale over the tire, more sharp. You need to convert inches into miles. An engine turns wheels. You can see revs. The most gears get them to wheels slower. So you need to divide engine revs by gear ratio. First divide by a gearbox gear used, than again by an axle gear. Those revs are still per minute. Multiply with 60 to get them per hour. That is how fast your wheels turn, revs per hour. Multiplying wheel's revs with the wheel's 1 rev trace we get miles per hour.

The second picture shows out chromed bumper wich couldn't be recognized on the first one. The grill and the tank seem getting polishing regulary. I'd say the owner not only use it for work but do it with love and pride -

Sometimes I think to myself every part of an old vehicle may keep its history. With that we may rest some damages not fixed completey. It either seems a bit of difference of restoring and building a replica. -
NR question
Vladislav replied to Guy Edelist's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Guy, That's pretty interesting that many people still remember driving them. Overhere I just heard the stories from some folks who remembered seeing them driving down the streets. There were not many of them supplied to the SU at all, an undocumented figure is nearly 700 units. With no parts supply during a Cold war and having troubles with SAE bolts and nuts Lend-Lease vehicles were gone probably to the end of 60's. I myself remember seeing anything in the streets starting from 1980 and nothing of so old rigs was showed out. -
newbie with a problem

Ufff... I tell you a secret - I didn't do that Haven't blasted and painted brake shoe bases either. Just pretty sure no one would see those areas and nothing bad about any technical issues. Sure you should do things the way you're completey satisfied of. But it seems to me sometimes I should achieve satisfaction of 90% only. I should go ahead and can't afford redoing some things twice or three times just because I'm not 100% happy of how it's done. -

I have Lund(s) with no brace. They were made of fiberglass and seem no cracks of being deformed by wind. No less than 1 million miles on each of the 2 trucks for sure. -
It seems it was one happy day for the driver - he survived with the tractor. Not sure how it turned nice to the engeneer.

On the pictures they look double and new. Or near that.

I replaced one rail. And some of the cross members. So it's better be called combined two frames to make one. Alot of rust in between, both trucks were built in 1945 and probably didn't catch a day under a roof. Glad to hear you have gone through the frame rebuild story, hope you'll not stuck on that with the B. Sure if you will see a need of such a rebuild. A frame doesn't show out much being under a tank body.

Congrats on the work done Jake! Looks unbelivable!
