  1. Cummins and Eaton are being squeezed out the market by the vertical integrators like Daimler-Volvo-Scania-Paccar-Fiat and Navistar/Volkswagon) (Notice the dominant Euro connection). Mack was at one time the chief of the vertical integrators. That's why Cummins and Eaton should buy Mack and offer an outlet for their products. Mack was a large Eaton partner until Volvo came along. Mack made numerous L models with Cummins diesels and offered Cummins right up to the CL model. Now they only offer baby Cummins in the MHD and Cummins gas pots. Cummins/Eaton/Deere/Cat/Hendrickson and Oskosh have the dealer network to pry Mack away from Volvo. If Trumps infrastructure replace dreams come true there would be plenty of opportunities for American owned Mack Truck. If an American company bought and unleashed Mack I believe Volvo would disappear from American roadways and Diamler would loose market share. Paccar would still be around as they seem to have a way of surviving.
  2. Nice ride. Built in Macungie to boot.
  3. Cummins/Eaton should buy Mack. Mack would give them an outlet for their products.
  4. On another thread a member stated that he had a 237 hooked up to a 10 speed and it performed well. Has anyone else had experience with this type of setup. Seems like a 237/285 hooked up to a 10/15/18/20 speed would have infinite torque possibilities if you didn't try lugging the set up. Might be worth exploring as there are a lot of 237's around.
  5. St Johnsbury Transcon and Roadway had numerous V8 U-models. Vinny you were born too late.
  6. Looks like they are trying to atract Schneider
  7. Sorry for your loss Ernie and family. I know the pain as I lost a son at 24. You will never get over the loss but believe me it does get better with time.
  8. Compare this to the piss poor Volvo/Mack line up of today.
  9. Will a Cummins big bore 15+ liter fit in any mack truck such as granite or CH axle forward. If not how much needs to be done to make it so. Every other manufacturer has models that can fit this engine. Seems like the Mack modification center could do this without to much hassle.
  10. That Astro did more than it share
  11. Hendrickson's were great trucks. Probably kept Autocar(for the most part) out of the Chicago area back in the 50's early 60's
  12. Now that's a big Mack auction. Nice variety. Definitely need to know where and when.
  13. Not enough stiffness for off road. Need some mass-need some iron.
  14. It was good to go through this thread again. Thanks Al great memories. It would be nice if first gear made some Celli Macks in 1/64. My grand kids pretty much beat up my Celli 1/34. 1/34
  15. That's funny but probably true.
  16. Logtrucker-I remember the green and yellow prototype. Not bad looking. Closer to a warm over than a new model though. You tube has a video of a pinnacle evaluation that complained about the doghouse/dash encroachment on the right leg. maybe the warm over should address this also.
  17. Good point milkman. Maybee Trump can close the deal on making Mack American again.
  18. Paccar approx. 29%, Volvo/Mack approx. 18 %, Diamler approx. 35 %, IH 17 %. Guesstimate
  19. What new truck? Is it going to be a warmed over current model?
  20. Check with the Russians? Maybee Vlad knows. Cardi is fro RI and is aqua color.
  21. As Tony the Tiger says Grrrreat!
  22. Too bad the 325 V8 maxidyne didn't catch on more than it did. Was there ever an E9 Maxi.
  23. First Gear replica needs to make one of these in 1/64. F's, H's, B's and DM's also
  24. Does turbo compounding kick the MP 8 up to 555 HP?
