  1. Oldtimers: Who in your opinion made the best over the road fleet truck back in the 50's 60's 70's and 80's. Consider quality, mpg's, cost of ownership etc. I think Mack and White east of the Rockies were pretty close competetors. I think Mack and White started to nose dive with the introduction of the CH and Road boss. Paccar and Freightliner dominated the west coast and started to move east. The ford 9000 and International Transtar started to make headways in the 80's
  2. Would be nice if the DM 800's were still made.
  3. How crazy is this. Can't sell them here but will ship them over seas.
  4. With a new chrome grill and chrome goodies it should look pretty good.
  5. Used to be able to do a complete engine exchange for 6-7 thousand bucks back in the 80's.
  6. That Hallamore M45 hauled a replacement main transformer from a barge up to the transformer pad at our CY Nuclear plant in the 1980,s. It had two M15 dump trucks up front as pullers to get it over grade. It was painted Hallamore colors back then. The dumps were owned by Butler out of Portland Ct.
  7. They must be trying to hide the new heavy haul
  8. H67: Hanks pictures-go to forum-sign in(not sure if you can view as guest)-Photography-Favorite truck-child boards-pick Mack-New model Mack. Works for me
  9. For the first time in a while I went on Hanks. They have quite a discussion on the new Mack pinnacle changeover coming as pictured by the green and yellow Sharkey prototype. Most comments were negative as far as the appearance. I'm sure that was not the final version. The discussion can be found by scrolling down the website until you get to the latest truck photos listed by manufacturer in a horizontal fashion. We will have to wait and see.
  10. For the last couple of months or so I would have to try getting on to this web site several times before entry was accomplished. Last couple of days I can get right on. Seems like PFM to me.
  11. I have a Kholer engine in a cub cadet and I have to use WD40 to get her started all the time in cooler weather. Havn't blown it up yet. Dam Kholer.
  12. Does anyone know the model of the Brockway with the Mack conventional cab and the set forward axle. This was one good looking truck rivaling the Superdogs IMHO.
  13. Superdog welcome back. I had a mild stroke about 10 years ago and I have some advice for those who may undergo one in the future. Get to the hospital ASAP. They have drugs now that can reverse many of the adverse symptoms however they have to be administered in the first few hours after the incident.
  14. Never saw to many midliners around. I remember reading when Mack was having financial problems in the 80"s before the Renault purchase that the Mack Mid liner was keeping Mack"s head above water.
  15. Nice. Love those R's with the grill guards.
  16. The Mack CL 700 was a beast IMHO that only came only in axle back configurations. I know many of you on here have been creative in stuffing different engines in B's. Has anyone ever tried turning a CL into an axle forward configuration? (Give me 80 acres and I'll turn this rig around).
  17. That looks like one of those rare seldom seen Canadian Pteradactyls that leave their calling cards all over.
  18. Man is not a bad looking truck. Still like the Argosies better though.
  19. Actually if you look at the L cab it looks very similar to the H model cab. Probably because they both came from Orville body works. If you look at the A model cab it is very similar to the White coup cab again probably from Orville body works. If you look at the Ford Bud cab it is very similar to the F model cab around the window area. I think the F models were built in house at Mack. It looks like Mack modified the Budd cab or N cab and made the F model cab. The F model and R model cabs are similar around the window area. The R model being much smaller. The R model was built by Schiller Globe but may have been a Mack design.
  20. If you look at the Sudebaker cab and the B model cab they are very similar. When they first came out, some used to call them Studebaker Macks.
  21. I think 87 was the start of the galvanized cabs.
  22. Its in the blood.
