  1. If you plan on pulling anything with a B model I would not install a 5 speed unless you have a maxidyne engine. the turmodynes engine needs more gears to keep the engine in the power band when pulling a load
  2. are you planing to pull a semi trailer or just your race car gooseneck trailer? I thought I remember you saying you were going to add a 5th wheel again
  3. LOL do you just slap one glad hand on and lift the trailer? I did that a few nights at UPS when I was 18. they needed spotters for the X-mas rush and all the oldtimers (30 somethings at the time) were complaining that I was makeing thim look bad spotting 4-5 trailers more per hour.
  4. I understand and fully agree its for the officers safety to get in the blind spot of the driver but I just think they can easly pull off to a safe location to conduct the matter. and yes granny likely ran a red light or thought she was on a freeway LOL trent
  5. I agree Terry! I drive over the road for a living and 95% of the truckers I see all change lanes to give the emergency viechels and cops the space they need . Unfortunely cars rarely move over with us and often get suprised when we "close the door on them" glad the cop and motorest were ok. one thing that does piss me off is when officer Joe pulls grandma over on a busy highway for a simple violation and he feels the need to park 1/2 his cruiser in the traviling lane. it just causes a back up and often the car behind me ,tailgating or not, will nearly hit the cruiser because they are not expecting a car to be parked halfway on the roadway. fire trucks wreckers or an accedent I se no problem to block a lane for safty space. but for a ticket thats just plane wrong and unsafe!! Trent
  6. What are your other money draining hobbies? This is my 91 Mr2 turbo 280HP 2000lbs best 1/4 mile to date is 12.2 sec
  7. Hmmmm... Bulldozers .... lowboys .........WAKE UP i live in a town house! LOL I have a Import "hot rod" 1991 toyota MR2 2.0L turbo 280whp and only 2000lbs very fun in the corners.
  8. the B model that one the show had a turboed 711 or a ENDT673? I asked him but forgot already it was dynoed at 250HP so it was juced a little for more power. it was all stock looking and had chrome in all the right places. the only other engine I have seen like that was of that red B model with green frame. There were lots of trick looking petes there but that B model just had more class than any other truck. best thing about it is it started as a work horse and ended as a show truck. the petes looked like they had never seen a day of hard driving. It was a great show and would highly recomend it. Trent
  9. you might be right Larry, that would alow the window to go down more. I pulled the R model panels out recently and they are very simmilar to a b model but dont have that stop at the bottom.
  10. do a search for gulfway in Flordia my trucks insured for 5k with a trailer
  11. dash panel for a B model? if yes the 4-5 screws holding it to the dash remove and then you can get a hand in the back to remove the tach and speedo cables. after thay are undone you should have more room to work with to get the guages out. The gauges will need to be removed one by one as they slide in from the front of the panel. hope this helps trent
  12. I have not done it in a few years but if remember you need to remove the door lock and door handel. remove the screws for the locking latch on the side of the door. roll the window all the way down remove the inner window and door handels. with all this removed lift the panel up about 3 inches and then when the bottom clears pull down and outward. hope I diddent miss anything trent
  13. Whats up Mike the show is at 7 pm on friday the 29th (this upcoming friday) If you dont make it I hope to see you in union for the show Trent
  14. Hi rob I know we spoke last mont those camelback rears are still sitting in the corner of the yard if you still need those brake and spring parts free for the takeing Trent
  15. sounds like we have simmilar issues Jim. I drive the druck once a week some times more and its exactly like you discribe between 30-40 mph. I have (2) steers that went on the front axel today and the drives went to the rear axels. I still notice the cab shacking but not as violently as before. I am thinking the rear cab rubbers(non air ride cab ) might be worn so thats the next thing I will look at. So far I have replaced all the shocks. 2 front tires and 2 drives. I may try lowering the front tires to 85psi and see if that helps? a friend of mine has his at 85 psi on his B model and said it helps a little? let me know if they find something. hope its a cheep fix Trent
  16. LOL.. I had it the other way around 6 years ago when I turned 21 I got my CDL i was driving a 2 stick 6 speed mack trans. when I changed jobs and went to work for my current job I was given a 96 internationa eagle with a 18 speed. I missed gears all the time because I let the revs fall to far... trent
  17. cool info ... did they put V8 emblems on superliners? I cant think of a superliner I have seen with a V8 logo?? Trent
  18. I have my truck insured thru gulfway. it cost me about $185 per year with unlimitied mileage. However its only coverd for $5000... total cost of what I have in the truck so far. I belive you can pull your own trailer as well as long as it not "for hire" it seams like everyone gets a completly diffrent quoit so maybee its just luck of the draw??? Trent
  19. I like the sound of the detroits also. I also have seen the 318s in the R700s but never in a B model. We have an old pulverizer at work with a detroit for power its equipped with a straight stack. that thing screams when I drop a bucket of dirt in the hopper. there was a pic that i think barry posted of a V12 in a superliner or RS700. Trent
  20. I know other car club sites have "pinned" or "sticky" info regarding topics that are often asked by new members or for a quick refrence. for example ...where to find the vin number?...where is my engine tag?.... what is the diffrence between a ENDT675, and ENDT673 etc... I know I have searched a few times looking for simple stuff like this. these topics are managed by the admin so that truthfull info is displayed. Just a thought Trent
  21. The vin can be looked up at any mack dealer or thry the Mack museum. Most internet sites wont bother with old trucks or cars unless you have the 1982 and newer vins numbers. The Mack dealer can get you basic info on the spot but they wont have all the proper build sheets that have your trucks exact info. send a small donation ($10 or so)to the Mack museum when you buy the truck and they will tell you what the truck had when it rolled off the assymbly line. The 2 stick 6 speed is a great robust trans. You have a 5 speed main box and the aux box gives you Lo-Direct and Reverse. this is a 1:1 trans (no overdrive) you will have 5 reverse gears and 6 foward gears if you are in a hole or in the mud with a heavy load you would shift like this.. Main box in 1st gear/aux box in Low, let the clutch out accelarate out of the hole or incline etc... when you get on flat ground you shift the aux box to Direct(leave main in first) then after that gear winds out shift the main box 2-3-4-5(6 speeds total) if you are empty or normal driving you leave the aux box in Direct and only shift the main box 1-2-3-4-5. the rear end ratio will be on the top part of the diff housing on the slant part of the diff. (most likely a 4.17 ratio as that was a pretty standard ratio ....64mph) standing at the rear of the truck looking over the rear cross member it would be visible frome here. (bring a scraper and wire brush if its oily) if you need more help let us know Trent
  22. It is soft inside but the outside looks tuff. Thats todays standards I guess and honestly if I had to live out of my truck for a week at a time that nicely finished sleeper would be very welcomed after a 16hr day in the hot sun. If mack wants to servive they need a truck like this that can compete with the "classic" look of Pete and KW
  23. Hello Gary and welcome to the board Sounds like the truck you are looking at is a little sick! a few gallons a day is very excessive oil use in my mind. If the truck has an offset cab then you are looking at a U model. If its a 71 look on the pass side frame rail just behind the tire, the vin number should be stamped there. many times cabs were replaced so the door tag is not the best way to determin the exact model. As far as engine model look on the pass side under the exhaust manafold for a plate or on top of the water pump it will be stamped ENDT675, or some thing like that. this will tell you the model and possible if its a newer engine. You can rebuild the 237hp or add a 300hp engine i\as it is basicly the same block will fit, you also could simply replace some parts on the 237 to achive 300 HP, as far as rebuilding the 237 kits are readly availible. I havent checked lately on prices so i wont comment. i do know the older Mack rebuild kits are cheeper than cat, cummings etc.... I have seen a few 237s and 300 hp engines on ebay for 1000-1500 but who knows why they were pulled. good luck Trent
