  1. All of the plows (big trucks) in the county have wings, a few have mid-mount scrapers. They use pick ups for small spots and loaders when the p/u won't fit lol. It's also not uncommon to find a grader plowing a back road.....likely a "make work" deal. There's a lot of two lane country Rd around here they can plow the lane and most of the shoulder in one pass. We also have a few tow plows.
  2. Pick a a range and stay there. subscribed and good luck
  3. I always had an interest in trucks and tractors, but after a ride to Wiarton, Ontario with a friends dad in his Pete 5 axle roll off and 6 axle wiggle wagon, I was hooked.... This is what I want to do...that's why I do it. If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life
  4. Not sure if this has been posted, but I came across it in my Facebook news feed http://www.macktrucks.com/community/mack-news/2016/mack-trucks-unleashes-2017-engine-lineup-boosting-power-productivity-and-efficiency/
  5. The fact that the motor and tranny may not (are not?) original may be a HUGE part of the problem.....if they don't match, of course they won't work......
  6. The article said that it would equal 21, but in practice there are some overlapping of ratios between ranges. Leaving a distinct 13 speed
  7. There's a big concrete pumping outfit near home that runs a few with the layout of the cab/chassis pics above. Bet they turn like a house with all those tires on the ground
  8. Long list....but at the top, in no perticular order are RD's, DMM's and MH. Of course the iconic B models....
  9. I agree. The default didn't work for me, but I found one I can work with......
  10. ......Im good with change,...mostly lol One thing I do miss is the "Recent Activity" button that showed thread titles instead of individual posts in threads, but I'll adapt....hopefully
  11. That's where I'd start. Have someone hit the key and watch the exhaust. The first few spins shouldn't yield anything, but it should start puffing smoke if it's getting fuel. But taking care of the leaks won't hurt anything either
  12. My spare has a similar colour scheme Very sharp tractor you have there
  13. I've got the same calendar hanging in the shop. I see lots of twin steers here, but NEVER a superliner.
  14. I got similar errors Friday afternoon....2011 GU813 MP7-405M....dropped it off at Mack, gave them the errors I got off the guard dog, the young fella writing the service order seemed to know what I was gonna say..... Already had the doser replaced once a few years ago. Codes were 128 5246 15 and 128 4094 18 I googled them and got a error code book with descriptions One has to do with DEF quality, which is odd, we get the same fluid all the time and store it in the shop. Bu, I was gone for about a year, and I'm not sure what happened. I know the granite hadn't been greased in quite some time....
  15. If it were me and I had it all stripped down, I would run all new tubing....if nothing else, for peace of mind
  16. That what I thought too....but Cambridge Mack (Vision Truck) came up with a new cab, doors, lights, mirrors, bumper, tanks, seats. Re-used the frame, hood, axles(rebuilt), motor (ReMack), and transmission
  17. Cover and page 26 of Today's Trucking The article is mostly wrong tho.... Edit to add: Thanks Keith (85snowdog) for sending me the link....I was on "paid vacation" hauling feed while all this went down http://www.todaystrucking.com/january-2016
  18. I have always preferred have each lock on its own switch (front and rear cross locks and power divider), but the Mack I'm in and the Volvo I was driving for the feed mill both have the cross locks on one switch, and the power divider on another. The Volvo was plumbed so the cross lock switch didn't get air until the power divider did, which made for quick engagement, just one switch and its all locked up. DO NOT engage while spinning ANY wheel.....anticipate you're gonna need em and hit em before you start loosing it. On soft ground (snow, ice, mud, loose gravel) and empty I notice very little difference in turning, as the back is light enough to just let the tires "burn", loaded , they both kinda want to plow lol. I would avoid using at speeds greater than about 40km/h (whatever that works out to in MPH), just the way I do it. If I can manage over 40KMH then the conditions aren't crappy enough to be locked up. Also, careful with the the engine brake, it'll slow ALL the drive wheels and make for an exciting ride, with open diffs, a few wheels may keep road speed, which will help to hold a straight line.
