    258 I6 are THE BEST.....had one in my 88 YJ.....once you got em running they were solid torque monsters....still got a carb rebuild kit in the basement for it.....took me so damn long to find it, and never got to put it in.....

    There's an o/o that runs for the mill I was working at with a pair of KW with 6NZ cats that were dyno tuned to 750HP and 1000HP....hes been running them like that for years. The red KW (1000HP) has been "turned down" because of tearing up drivelines. Anyone familiar with the area: Both can pull the "hamilton mountain" NB (HWY6 North) @ +/- 60,000KG in high range. High power OTR can be done, just gotta watch what you're doing

    j_hancock: thanks for the link. I have seen that before when diggin for specs Bbigrig: good explanation. And yes, 350 used to be a good number lol. The newly restored "spare" is an E6-350 Econodyne....30 yrs later and it still getting the job done.

    By high torque rise, do you mean "Maxidyne"? My MP7-405 is supposedly a Maxidyne as well....I can say it pulls like a maxi

    never heard of a MP7 364....depending on what emissions systems it uses it could be ok. I have an EPA2010 MP7-405HP, and its been great, but the EPA2007 MP7 had their share of trouble over the DPF's....

    ^^^what he said. The motor is only a small part of what the truck can manage.

    likely the DPF problems.....on the MP7's anyway, I would wager a guess the MP8's are similar.

    I used Power Service in my TDI....White in winter, silver in summer....

    A somewhat local auto parts hauling outfit runs some high cube trailers with small drive tires on their tractors out of the auto parts plant behind my house.

    Can't remember the rating on the RD steer axle, but it had 425's on it with no ill effect on the steering boxes.

    Count the plugs, divide by two, then multiply by three for the number of chambers....for Mazda's anyway lol

    Roofing place I worked for had two pull start diesel gensets

    There's a guy here with a few FJ's, all diesels and "summer use only" lol. He's also got a couple quad cab Mitsubishi cab over pickups, 4WD on solid axles with diesels. It's a tight call for my favourite off roader between Jeep CJ & YJ, Scouts, old Broncos and FJ's....
