  1. I'm going to need a full gasket set (not head gaskets, but everything else); does anyone know where to get one? I was hoping to get a decent price (I know, good luck). Also need a water pump and air compressor, I can get these rebuilt but just checking to see if you have any sources for new/rebuilt ones.
  2. Looks to be in pretty decent shape. $1,100 in Weedsport NY. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mack-Cab-LJ-LJX-B73-B75-B77/124392639442?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  3. The guy who brings this beautiful custom-built miniature Pete to Macungie used a bread truck chassis with a 5.9 Cummins...worked out very well for him.
  4. Someone who used to have LJ rubber parts is John Chalmers in Cashtown PA. (717)334-8709 (let it ring about 10 times).
  5. I like Vlad's answer and dcweasel's reason for the spring. I'm going to look through my repair manual to see if there's anything mentioned about it. The thoughts about starter lube are good--I'll have to keep that in mind when I put the truck together.
  6. Anybody know what this valve is for? It's on the inlet side of the pump after the primer/transfer pump.
  7. Throw a belt on that rear wheel and you can power all your shop tools!
  8. That's a stout looking tailgate, and a sharp looking motor!
  9. They definitely still sell the short and long luberfiner (bypass) oil filter cartridges. I can look at mine to get the right number.
  10. You'll have to post some more photos of that one!
  11. Man, that B-73 is a fine-looking truck. One possibility is that it's cheaper to build the B cab than the L cab. I agree with you, the L cab is much better.
  12. Great photos...looks like a lot of nice trucks. 2 W71s, and one of them a day cab...that's rare! And the 4wd Ultraliner! I wish I could have been there.
  13. But they sure sound like they're putting out a lot of power!
  14. I put just shy of one gallon on it; I didn't second coat everything because I was running out of time and patience but the first coat was heavy enough to cover well.
  15. That's something you don't see every day!
  16. I put a coat of primer on today, then top coated with red. The color is wrong in the photos, it's Mack 400 red. I sure do like it now!! It was a hassle to reach all the nooks and crannies, especially around the rear suspension--very hard to get the gun in and around things. I used Nason single stage urethane, it was easy to work with and covered well.
  17. You could give Barry at Watts Mack a call, and they come up on ebay now and then.
  18. I've seen a lot of the 2 cycle DDs with emergency shutoffs...flapper door on the air intake. Handy thing to have!
  19. Thanks Matt! I have bases like yours...these new bases are much flatter. The old ones will work but as you can see in these pictures, the chrome top piece leaves a big gap in the middle since my cab is not as curved as a B model. I can make the old ones work but if I can find 2 of the correct bases I will have all 5.
  20. A friend sold me some KD517 lights; I found that 3 of them had a different kind of base that's more flat so they will fit on my H model and other cabs that aren't as curved as the B model roof. I need to get 2 more of these bases, if anyone knows where I can get 2 please let me know.
  21. D N R ...sounds like Do Not Resuscitate!
  22. Familiar-looking guy in the latest issue of Hagerty magazine. https://www.hagerty.com/media/hagerty-community/this-fleet-of-fully-functional-vintage-firetrucks-is-ready-for-adventure/?utm_source=SFMC&utm_medium=email&utm_content=20_September_23_Newsletter_NewDD
  23. Asking $8,000; sounds like a fair price for the condition it's in. Says it has a 400 Cummins. https://www.ebay.com/itm/mack-superliner-truck/363114993513?hash=item548b571769:g:DOkAAOSwvIpfaWql&autorefresh=true
  24. Nice!! I'll bet the guys fight over who gets to drive those two tankers.
