  1. The sol is toward the front of the pump it has wire going to it with a screw on top.
  2. Also the older pumps have a slip clutch on the pump cam ,if the clutch gets worn the engine can over speed if your simply going to governed rpm your golden, if its going over the governed speed be carful not to be stomping on the throtle as it reaches top rpm It may not come back down! Its possible its a sticky rack or simply a throtle cable / lever issue operate it at the pump and see what it does !
  3. is the check engine light on on the dash? the timing advance solnoid is likly haywire! You could save your self the bucks of buying the sol by doing this I have found that replacing the solnoid Does not always fix the problem changing the timing will fix the problem for ever! I have had this happen I have ended up setting the timeing up to 10 degees its a farely big job because there is alot of stuff to move out of the way to get to the timing gear and you got to drain the coolant. but all in all its worth it!
  4. We put straights or turnouts on pretty much anything we send out ! The burner screens pile up in the corner of the wearhouse!
  5. I always get a chuckle out of these guys that are so easily brain washed by corperate propaganda .The proof is in the pudding True Mack Guys like to beleive that Mack could do no wrong! But the actual truth is they were or are no diffirent than any other big company they tended to experiment with the public! The ETEC engine was chucked out there half baked in my opinon Cams started failing 6 months out, they didn't test it long enough no time! same with egr BIG RUSH get it out there! DEADLINES just like the OCC shows on TV on a big scale. The 2004 egr stuff was a mess that had to be with out a doubt the biggest mess they chucked out there ,Good thing was that everyone else was in the same stew can .It really never did get sorted out! I give the the Big V credit here They really got there shit together for the most part with the emissions this stuff (for the most part) is working quite well with minimal failure . At least hre in my part of the world!
  6. BRO! some of the stuff your doing heres scaring me A bit ! Don't be putting 12 v to stuff with out knowing what its about!! do you have any other symtoms here blu smoke black smoke ??? If the timing advance has stuck or inop the engine will stumble and limit the rpm somewhat and smudge blu fuely smoke. Your first description of this I immediatly thought throtle pedal issue If you start the truck with the throtle unpluged it will default to 1200 ! pull the panel on the right hand kick and check the Vehicle ECU plug for water damage!I have seen the windsheild leak and cause this exsact symtom happen with fubared pins in the vecu.Your truck May have VMAC 2 a one peice ecu /vecu but check into this anyway.
  7. Just sum more info the cam keys are not the same on some HP engines Be sure this guy PAYS atention when pressing off the gear and removing the key some are off set majority are straight but you may have a minority engine 460 HP is straight!
  8. Bummer! The cam is likly damaged
  9. Check fuel preasure to the injecton pump !
  10. Removing the heads together is fine and cuts down on time, as long as your leak is out in the open ?If the leak is between the heads be careful !have seen the heads crack at the frost plugs on the end of the heads!!And make sure your liners are 24 thou or more up to 28 , 22 is low spec i beleive and it is too low at minimum spec for anything 350 0r 0ver
  11. Glenn Just my observation but! E9 Was a more expencsive when the seats let go would ususlly cost you a piston , liner head and the turbo 866 would let you know by poping E9 gave no warning at all!
  12. Rad Cap ? or Thermastat or both! The fan can cause greif Kinda need more info!
  13. Could I ask what your using this unit for? v8s live a long life as logging trucks and dump trucks !They don.t like to be idled they, dont stand up to steady pulls up long grinds day in and day out pulling a steady 500 hp out of them, Head bolts will break under these types of conditions,If you got a job that they get reasonable work pulling big power out for a bit then a semi light loading for a bit mixing it up a bit they will live long.30000 hrs is attainable .
  14. Just be awear you will need to buy a bell houseing! the binder housing will likly not have the mount ears for the mack install and the clutch fork for the mack is upside down for the cable clutch ,there are Quite a few conciderations to think on when doing one of these swaps also there are or were two shiftlid configs on an eaton trans a foward mount and a rear mount stick opening! A couple of inches can make the install easy or hard when dealing with the stick opening on the floor ! Been there done that! Just some stuff to think on
  15. Does the primer get firm when your priming if not as stax has pointed out the transfer pumps can fail on a moments notice! But you should be able to get it to atleast light off for a second or so, also as stax mentioned pull the plugs on the ecu and check for coolant fairely common issue.
  16. Make sure you got fuel in the tank s and noone has syphoned it off on you! you might give it a (small) sniff of ether( starting fluid) see if it will light off on that!It sounds like its getting fuel if your geting some smoke! Also have you loosened any fuel lines loosen at least two fuel lines at the head and prime till you get fuel at both then crank they can be real bears to get started sometimes.Once you got two cyls firing the rest will follow up the rear!
  17. 28 yoru getting what you pay for! at 32 your in the 400 hp range
  18. You guys !(Most) of the time it is the timing advance solnoid block that causes this problem! On the odd occation the econovance can be hanging or have broken spring, there was a ts buliten about removing the screens in the inlet ports on this be sure you have done this also there is a bulliten for re routing the oil suply line at one point make sure it comes from the left side of the engine piston cooler gallery and the hose is in good condition!the hose may be falling apart inside! just some stuff to try!
  19. If it has mack diffs It sounds like a power divider issue to me .Are you running un even tires between axles?
  20. Guys the dogish nature of this engine is caused by the cam! If you go tweaking puters and the like you will just be wasting more fuel! the solution is to install the AC Cam In the AI engine The problem being it counterveens the emisson laws! all the smoke you see as you take off is unburned fuel that could have got you going but the rules had their hands tied! There are quite a few trucks in my area where we have no emisson tests and the ac cam makes the engine lift off as it should If you live in an area where you can get away with this do it! You'll never look back! But It aint cheap the job will likly cost u 3-4000 depending on where you go! but the up side is it will pay you back with the power and better fuel milage over time 1 mile to the gal is not uncommon.
  21. 84 superdog I sent ya a pm but thought others would like the info aswell! Heres the part #nos for the auss turbo and the turbo drain line for you guys that are into it! Barry should be able to hook you up with this stuff or any Mack dealer. Inlet has to be modded to use this, and the charge air pipes if your installing on an engine with a V pump! 681GC334A drain tube 631GC3142AM Turbo!
  22. This statment is ture !The auss turbo spools real nice on these But if your turning up the fuel you need to be watching the pyro ! Which you should be anyway! we have done a few of these here on the island and every body thats done this is very happy with the results! The bonus is the dynatard works much better as well! And you need to remember to keep an eye on the air cleaner/s your moving lots of air!
  23. This is not just an mp8 problem we have replaced 2 on the same mp10 and we have received one in the same condtion as the one we were replacing out of the box we refused to install it! They seem to be having issues with quality control on these hope they get this fixed soon! They make a mess of the engine compartment when they start leaking!
  24. Yup no air no stop! Makes about as much sence as having an air starter but they are out there. But In some apllications where a remote stop is needed this would be an asset .
  25. The truck driver asked to have a easy to push clutch pedal! They provided it for you!!! Oh you wanted it to disengage the clutch???You'll have to carry and extra cable for that!
