  1. Jim is correct IF you insist on going new those are the conditions you NEED to look for Cause you'll be there lots !
  2. They are as good as a KW in my opinion! but thats not saying much because there all garbage now !Everyone is doing the same thing cheap cheap cheap!Get an older unit even if you have to put money in it you'll have a more dependable unit!
  3. Correct th after cooler is diffrent as well the supper liner one is a w model hybrid the 2 frame was used on Mh and Rw
  4. I'd give it a try
  5. Good Post Bro!

You may simply have a bad injector its not unheard of! swap 4 and 5 see if the miss follows the injector!
  7. You can also try cleaning the ports and tubes to the differential sensor on the intake manifold !
  8. Could also have a stuck turbo
  9. how do you know you have no boost leaks black smoke indicates lack of air Hows the air cleaner????
  10. The filter two lines two bolts!
  11. Any big restriction on the primary side could cause the pump to suck are around the pump seal! However the pump failing is not out of the question they do fail but they aint cheap!
  12. But is that check valve holding? the return line it may need replacing But will not be the cause of your issue , your either sucking air via a line or primary filter or the pump seal! restricted fuel line on the primary side !
  13. That is the return line ! The fitting at the block is a check valve that first! If the line is not leaking its not an issue for this problem If you look closely at the Green filter (If Mack) on the front of the engine theer is a number -8 or 10 line that will be the line to chase down for suction leaks If that is the one you put your gauge on that is why you saw no preasure cause there is none ! the preasure should run at or between 60 to 100 psi on the preasure side
  14. I Wish They still Made the CL with the V8!
  15. Is this A Grey engine? Model of truck will help too! The fuel pump is bolted on from the back side of the front cover on a grey engine with 2 13 mm / 1/2 inch headed bolts! the big line to the pump is the suction line make sure you got no leaks on this line IE: racor type filter with a plastic bowl on the bottom! also the fitting in the middle of the block just above the compressor is a check valve it may be malfunctioning ITS cheaper than a pump if your going to grasp at straws start at these items first!
  16. Thru the round looking cover on the front of the engine !The pump gear is slotted!
  17. 16 Year Old Rad !May be this needs cleaning inside after 16 years
  18. NO Relation ! But do replace all of the rest of the bolts! this is simply an age issue from what I have seen!
  19. Lots of things can be tried ! how ever the cam change will help eliminate the turbo lag and smoke on take off basically u already have an egr delete .egr is done internally by the cam on the AI, on the AC it is done after the fact! How ever the exhaust is still quite restricted by the exhaust manifold NATURE Of the Design, So Yes more can be done but how much are you willing to spend! Find an exhaust maifold and turbo to fit the bill from an earlier model truck!? Try the cam change if your still not saticfied then you could go after a turbo and manifold from say a earlier model late ninteys CH 460 that would let it breath Better.
  20. Replace the injection lines ! the code is u related ! For the code try cleaning the engine position sensor on the flywheel and being as the cam was replaced replace the cam sensor on the front engine cover it may have gotten damaged!
  21. Yup thats my vote I'd up root that puppy could save your self a big bag of money!
  22. So is it throwing up a check engine light!? Well it it runs good from a pail Correct? Did you check the tank vents I did all of the above once cause I was told to and it ended up being tank vent! The truck runs good for a bit then starts acting up sounds tank ventish to me! when something like this happens to got to start at the beginning and the cheapest and easiest and work to the expensive .
  23. Something could be stuck in the oil pump relief valve that is a fare drop in pressure pull the pan and look!
  24. yup cab wiring harness ECM huge project ! Get a donor engine way simpler! and more reliable!
  25. the heads have to come off Sounds like you grasped every other straw Also recently we had to stuck injectors due to bad sleeves another possible source of compression in coolant
