  1. Yup bolts got to be out cut the head off and put the nut back on the bottom and get it spinning with an impact alternative is you got to take u bolts out any way leave the pitman arm on till it’s on the ground
  2. So have you got any farther with this problem
  3. That is the rack stop adjustment ig you need to try give it more juice loosen the jam nut and turn the screw back 1/2 turn and lock the nut and try it! That is the old style adjustment I don’t recall the direction to turn it clearly. However if you feel a power increase you have gone the right direction/if it decreased the power turn the screw forwards one turn from that point and try it! As I mentioned it’s been 25 years since I messed with one of those however I remember it being opposite to the newer two jam nut style.! Once you establish the direction do not surpass plus 1 1/2 turn from stock set unless you want to wreck something!
  4. The above comment is so true Agree totally! The smart money is being spent on your current project Bro ! How ever if they don't sell the new stuff you may not be busy! 🙄 However! Fear Not thou !We have had a rash of EGR cooler Failures as of late ,they must have found a new Dollar store to shop at for these!😥 And You will always have work doing injector cups as well !😂
  5. Yup seen it happen a few times ! It even happened when it was a not Swedish owned ! How ever these guys can't really afford need to piss many more people off, small or big! Volvo/ Mack market share is dropping like a stone!
  6. Answer was correctly answered by 41 ! As for your noise judging by your comment an exhaust leak would show up as soot trails at the ports ! Check for broken studs ! After cooler could be cracked and leaking ! If the cooler is cracked you should have some black smoke trailing the truck under load and the pyro will be getting up to 1000 quite quickly!
  7. If it’s hard to start in the morning it’s a guaranty check egr before getting carried away. The hard pull comment kind of raises my eye brow a bit!
  8. Firstly u need to be pull at the rated rpm not full rpm to develop full boost you should be seeing 33-38
  9. Remove the egr hose at the front of the cooler and c if it’s wet there! Possibly failure however your symptoms are more similar to injector cup failure
  10. Nope aint no Mack and I'd don't think there are to many grades where they are working cause I don,t care even with 400 HP your going to break something if you have any sort of incline and that much weight!!
  11. Well bro! Kind of figured if this didn't get resolved this would be your choice ! Even if you do buy a new Pete please keep in touch here, Its real sad it has come down to this !How ever have seen it happen a few times before same deal as the Steeler's post the disputes escalate to this point and the customer walks ! He tells two friends and they tell to friends and so on it's still does not seem to faze them ! Trouble is that they already have spent the cost of new truck chasing a a ghost a possible wiring anomaly sensor wired backwards or something thy didn't see it and now were here! Sad thing is if you were a multi national corporation they would have tossed a new truck at you by now!
  12. Yup your right! Trent ! They are in the shop most of the time keeps em out of accidents! Great safety feature 😂
  13. Not really enough info in this topic here to give a good answer ! Do you have blo by puffing out the fill tube or vent while running! Is the engine firing on all cylinders ! when you changed the head which ports were wet maybe you have a bad injector! give us a few more clues may be able assist you better!
  14. Not too many things sound as good as a V8 pulling hard in my opinion, Love the sound! I've said it before I wish Scania had stepped up to the plate when Mack was floundering instead of these Volvo turds! OH well its done now as has been said before they are creating job security for the next generation till they run off all the customers!😥
  15. Sorry MRS got carried away🤔
  16. These used to have issues with fan hub bearings packing up on the AI engines due to the extra heat when the truck was first introduced! is it possible the hub bearings a toast! just throwing that out there! Also the crank Damper is a possible as mentioned however never seen one fail out of the blue before! fan hub bearings make a whining noise when standing in front of the truck!
  17. There is one simple thing to check before you go ripping the pump off for repair ask Rob has stated! Check to be sure the throttle lever isn't worn at the spring in the lever its self! this being worn can cause issues at idle as well just something cheap and easy to check before going all out! Just something else to look for!
  18. Replace the tensioner also be sure your Ac unit is not giving you greif could be causing issues
  19. This statement is so true ! the money made today. Is the same money that was made back then with all the higher costs of rigs fuel and other expenses!I have been in truck repair my whole life and watched as the most powerful group of people fight and scramble to race each other to the bottom . Had they stuck together they could have made a good living! Think about it ! everything moves by truck if the trucks stop rolling no body eats! pretty decent Lever from my way of thinking!
  20. Remove the pump measure the roller width and confirm with the vendor! would be my suggestion! the wide roller will work on the narrow cam but not the other way! The difference is may 1/6 of an inch how ever just enough to wreck stuff!
  21. You need to be careful with these in some of the older older pumps the roller width is narrow if u get the wrong pump with the narrow roller and use it on a wide cam u can ruin the pump! I hesitate to make any comment other than that!
  22. Bro In my opinion, you can chase this for ever! If the truck is pulling well and not throwing codes just ignore the idle situation ! It could be any number of things ! It may even be the ECM tring to compensate for a minor compression issue! Just be happy your driving a RELIABLE somewhat old school truck and not a new one! Again Just my opinion !
  23. That goes without saying in my opinion ! they needed to stick with building sewing machines and power saws .
  24. 45 seconds seems to long for ebv tops fifteen seconds! watch the oil pressure gauge if preasure comes up and the engine shuts down and this coincides with the shut down it’s likely the ebv ! If not look elsewhere. Oil pressure sensor/ oil level sensor / overheat sensor low water level bla bla bla. unfortunately the dpf covers up anything you used to be able to see or hear on a real engine!!
  25. Milkman! If I under stand it correctly ! with no egr if the fuel/and timing are not dialed back properly the heat in the cyls exceeds what the engine can tolerate ! It can burn up pistons crack heads bla bla bla ! recently I have seen several ISX engines heads cracked and ruined due to this delete And no alteration of the ecu! One needs to research who you are dealing with when doing a delete! We have guys that have successfully deleted here but the tune was altered to suit! This is all well and good till big bro starts enforcing the emission laws then were going to have issues! Also The down side is you now have no dealer support when it come to repair! your on your own ! Just Sayin! However you have the advantage of less break down due to emission related issues! And that CAN be A big Bonus if you don't get thrown under the the bus wheels!😉
