  1. You need to identify its a problem no point in throwing parts at it ! changing the same part over and over is obviously not working! Like Kevin said get the District service manager involved (what do you have to loose!) Note ! The RD is not the nicest thing to pull the trans out of so a higher than average in and out time would be justified !
  2. Guess there stumbling again! We did a horse power upgrade on a unit here And ever since the engine brake power has been cut in half been chasing this for months very little support for this issue as well. (unexplainable) I guess . Or its just imaginary! THATS IT! You have an over active Imagination!
  3. 3/8 air line connected to the inlet is all that is required there I believe! the t fitting is for torque limiting!
  4. Worth a try! fly wheel run out can be checked with fly wheel on the engine! with a dial indicator! balance has to be done by a machine shop or by the dinosaur method I have stated just somthing else to check! (leave no stone unturned!) Highly doubt the clutch is hurt!
  5. Ageed here your issue is not uncommon! oil preasure / flow is the key! does it have an external oil source Kit on It!
  6. Hi did anyone think to check the balance of the flywheel? It sounds like you have had many clutches if so. then if the fly wheel has been surfaced lots or even changed it can change the balance of it just somthin to think on We once chased an issue in our shop similar to this on an E6 it turned out to be the flywheel! found it by mounting our input shaft dumbie in the vice put the fly wheel and pilot bearing on the spigot of the dumbie shaft and the fly wheel would always fall to the same spot like an out of balance tire! ( The wonders of gravity) or frustration of it!
  7. We also have half a dozen running around here And the same result ! To my surprise few issues in the fuel system department, we changed a couple of rail sensors so far that,s it That s in keeping with the on going cheapass sensor thing that has always been a thorn! (May) have a winner : we will see! As for up time ! ?? They talk the talk ,but its the walking they have trouble with! They tend to stumble alot!
  8. Yup me to a PETE a real mans truck! Just ask em! Same dollar store wire, same dollar store sensors on a new and ELcheapo cab desigin ! Just like everyone else having to run the same stupid crap for emission related issues!
  9. Agree however if you get the wrong eservice guy this can drag things out. you got to follow their protocol or you don't get paid! Its a rock and a hard place for the dealer! Having said that. it is a 2018 likley common Rail and haven't estabished a track record for failure s yet!
  10. YUP Macpro WE TEND to blame the wrong things some times! call a spade a spade!
  11. Yup What they said! not impressive !
  12. Try putting it in 1st then throwing the switch!
  13. No argument here on this Quote how ever Everything changes when you throw an auto trans in the mix which every one seems to be pushing .They seem to be hell bent on creating stupider people here ,they are providing people with so many conveniences abs atc vsa bla bla bla ! Pretty soon you will have nothing but idiots driving 80000 lbs down the hyw. The upside to that is half of those units will be in the shop having repairs done to all the crap they are piling on these units ! Those will likley be dealer specific vehicle ECUs , As Rockwell pointed out A derate to 5 mile an hour on 55 mph hyw is down right dangerous for someone who knows how to drive Just imagine it happening to those that don't , guess the point is that it seems All manufacturers are trying to captivate everything ! there my be a cummins dealer on every corner but not always a KW dealer or a Pete dealer or a Binder dealer and with all the automation your married ! Just saying
  14. I would like to point out ,If You do a "tune" you will likely limit your self even more than you are already The Mack softwear is almost identical to Volvo how ever From what I understand Unless your a Dual Dealer we are allowed to see what we have paid for as a dealer !And yes "ALL THE NEW STUFF" is entrapment You ARE Married to the brand! NO matter what you drive!
  15. yup all the best Barry !
  16. If you are concerned clean and dri the bore , I have put a small amount of lock tight at the very bottom of the bore however I also would not be too concerned as stated 00,2 is still ok don't forget the liner will likely swell as the engine warms , It ran before it will run again! Just sayin!
  17. There should be an air filter some where! if not its been removed! as for shifting how long you been driving this? These are a quite a bear to master! specialy spliting the 4 to 5 I know of only two or three guys that can split them up and down in the higher gears with out grinding and it takes lots of practice and experimenting with the engine brake! I have rode shot gun many times with guys diagnosing stuff !an only two or three could do it clean and they had a system with the engine brake swithch . I personally have never mastered it because I don't drive em for a living just wrench em! Having said that you can buy a oring kit and try rebuilding the shift lid That may help! as for the oil don't recall the litre 3 gal /12 litre rings a bell maybe . 85/ 90W Good luck with it!
  18. Rad is under 16 psi pressure once the engine is shut down and there is no fuel pressure to counteract coolant pressure It can conceivably push back into the fuel rail coolant is sealed by an oring on the cup! Volvo Has had CUP issues for years and has yet found a GOOD fix! It is a tad unusual to have your condition however Very possible! and is where the most likely place to start is!
  19. Nope not impossible at all! injector cup issues plague these engines with a host different symptoms! hard start ng being the main ,stalling and antifreeze consumption and fuel contamination ! So if your truck is not equipped with a fuel heater its likely a cup issue or a cracked head! Not at all strange!
  20. Bro go to the red fuel filter and remove the line coming from the tank check the elbow into the filter is not plugged with shit These tend to collect crap
  21. Thats all well and good as long as you can still work thats the key! UPTIME if you can suffer thru with a little less power until the turbo gets here then great turbos are not cheap to stock and depending on how many failures they have in their area it may not be worth it to have one on the shelf ilies why they order one! Again good luck just remember EVERYBODY else is having the same and or similar issues with this new stuff Mack and volvo don't have the market cornered when it comes to turbo failures!
  22. Chances are they will have to file an e service The follow instruction from Big brother!!! And depending on big brothers experience , he may or may not roll the dice correctly Could possibly be a turbo issue won't throw a code for that. could be a stuck egr valve may or may not throw a code for that! There are several good guys at Eservice And there are a few ledgends in there own minds guys that may stone wall them Unfortunately, hopefully they get one of the good ones and minimize your down time! It all depends on who has the balls to throw the right part at it with info provided! chances are its a stuck turbo issue as it is a fairly common thing! Good luck to ya!
  23. in my opinion if the shaft has no loss of motion twisting it it is fine!how ever it is the inspector you have to please not me!
  24. So much for The MACK commitment to service and Uptime!
  25. I have some advice There is a kit made to repair the valve once you have the valve repaired leave it in the on position don't touch it ever again and simply add a little coolant after you change the filter these valves were a good IDEA in theory however the orings cook to the metal and u end up where your at! Cummins has had this setup for years didnt work for them either! Just an opinion
