  1. This statement is so true ! the money made today. Is the same money that was made back then with all the higher costs of rigs fuel and other expenses!I have been in truck repair my whole life and watched as the most powerful group of people fight and scramble to race each other to the bottom . Had they stuck together they could have made a good living! Think about it ! everything moves by truck if the trucks stop rolling no body eats! pretty decent Lever from my way of thinking!
  2. Remove the pump measure the roller width and confirm with the vendor! would be my suggestion! the wide roller will work on the narrow cam but not the other way! The difference is may 1/6 of an inch how ever just enough to wreck stuff!
  3. You need to be careful with these in some of the older older pumps the roller width is narrow if u get the wrong pump with the narrow roller and use it on a wide cam u can ruin the pump! I hesitate to make any comment other than that!
  4. Bro In my opinion, you can chase this for ever! If the truck is pulling well and not throwing codes just ignore the idle situation ! It could be any number of things ! It may even be the ECM tring to compensate for a minor compression issue! Just be happy your driving a RELIABLE somewhat old school truck and not a new one! Again Just my opinion !
  5. That goes without saying in my opinion ! they needed to stick with building sewing machines and power saws .
  6. 45 seconds seems to long for ebv tops fifteen seconds! watch the oil pressure gauge if preasure comes up and the engine shuts down and this coincides with the shut down it’s likely the ebv ! If not look elsewhere. Oil pressure sensor/ oil level sensor / overheat sensor low water level bla bla bla. unfortunately the dpf covers up anything you used to be able to see or hear on a real engine!!
  7. Milkman! If I under stand it correctly ! with no egr if the fuel/and timing are not dialed back properly the heat in the cyls exceeds what the engine can tolerate ! It can burn up pistons crack heads bla bla bla ! recently I have seen several ISX engines heads cracked and ruined due to this delete And no alteration of the ecu! One needs to research who you are dealing with when doing a delete! We have guys that have successfully deleted here but the tune was altered to suit! This is all well and good till big bro starts enforcing the emission laws then were going to have issues! Also The down side is you now have no dealer support when it come to repair! your on your own ! Just Sayin! However you have the advantage of less break down due to emission related issues! And that CAN be A big Bonus if you don't get thrown under the the bus wheels!😉
  8. May have been a coincidence! who knows maybe Try a stat! Log as the temp is in the safe range should be ok! one thing for sure getting dealer help is out for ya now!
  9. Yup Volvo couldn't organize a shit fight!
  10. who did your delete you need to consult them
  11. yup should be either on the damper or on fly wheel
  12. The engine is designed to have exhaust gas in the cyl this cools the burn! You have now removed that and if the tune wasn't compensated for this it Is going to run hotter with clean air going into the cyl ! just sayin!
  13. What procedure are you currently using????
  14. Correct The truck will pick up on an ecu mismatch! I agree the guy needed to test out his work! Not achieving the torque of even a 425 1450- 1850
  15. This here is some decent info thanks for posting it ! Having said that this here statement says a lot ( I was able to pull much harder on inclines and the boost gauge was getting up to 40psi) 40 psi is a good boost number ! If you are maintaining that on the pull or close to that, IN my opinion your getting most of what you paided for! I for one would like to know what part of the program he was able to gain access to set the fuel numbers portions of the perimeters ! they are are usually only accessed by headquarters and u usually have to pay to get it! So if anyone here has that knowledge please pipe up! 👍
  16. I'm just going to throw this out there did you keep the injectors in the same holes when reassembly took place ! Each injector has a trim code! if you didn't you might try gathering all the trim codes up and reinputing them in the the software in the right order including the new one see if it changes the situation! The ecu may be tring to compensate for a miss match! or cylinder imbalance! just soming to think on!
  17. 18 years and counting! Having said that we have a Volvo loader at the shop at the moment just put cups in that puppy Not even a 400 hp engine ! this issue isn't just confined to Trucks ! Just an over all Volvo trash issue! (we got it passed the warranty were AHH good enough! ) like earlier stated job security for us guys and ongoing parts sales for THE BIG V! keeps the economy going!
  18. Ha ha I’m stoked now ! love that idea but remember you thought of it ! I ll send their hit men after you if I get caught 😂 He told me to do it. No worry’s thou Revenue will be way down by that time they wouldn’t be able to afford. A hitman.🤔
  19. Possible! was the pump redone?
  20. Yup guess all the manufactures have their crosses to bare ! that said ! Get tired of Us looking like fools or being blamed for faulty installs bla bla bla! We have been experimenting with simply torquing ,see how it goes This bullshit torquing backing it off tightening it twice shit ain't workin. After all tightening it and loosening it is hardly different than using the bolt over in my mind !( I stand corrected if it can be logically explained! ) so if they ain't going to fix it! we are forced as usual to try find a better solution! For the sake of trying to save face ! All a steer can do is try! Or Keep doing the same thing over and over ! Definition of crazy ! / Forced obsessive compulsive disorder! defiantly job security How ever there is no shortage of work! with all the other dollar store bits and pieces they use to build the rest of the truck with!
  21. Finally s Finally someone thinking what we’re thinking!!
  22. Ah! my mistake So In my opinion you should be looking into an injector with bad or low cracking pressure or a valve hanging up! check your valve set first! does the engine have much blow by?
  23. Yup we just did another set the other day 6 months in checked the torque while removing them( mid to low 30's on the bolt coming out) I'm sure the tech followed the torque procedure in his mind it was correct ! I could be wrong but These bolts should have seen at least 50-60 ft pounds coming out! Quite honestly Its a piss poor way to hold the injectors down to start with and to add to the already compromised situation the bolt is in my opinion Maxed out for its size and for what engineering is asking it to do .That is why they have all these torquing procedures that may or may not be helping the situation to start with trying to get by with a design flaw that that should have been addressed years ago! they have us applying magic paste then not applying the paste And so on !Bla bla FIX the f*cking thing! These engines has decent potential if not for the flaws they seem to be unwilling to redesign! JUST KEEP Patchin!
