  1. Like I mentioned about my '67 I ran std Valvoline 10w40 in it. It had 150K miles on it( I put 50K on it) and I didn't worry much about wiping a cam out due to the weak valve springs. After 35 yrs, it was worn in and don't think the additives are all that critical at this point. Your old Flathead would probably survive on used cooking oil, let alone a low additive new oil.
  2. Hmmm, was she adopted????? Does she resemble the mailman?
  3. The last few years has wreaked havoc on the hot rod crowd and failed motors(due to additives, or the lack of). Now everone seems to know the real reason why and takes precautions. My old 67 F100 ran fine with the newer oil, as the valvetrain was so weak it didn't see the wear a "big" cam puts on it. ALL my hot rods get VR-1 Valvoline 20w-50 since it has the proper additives to allow life with flat tappet cams. Never had a failure in all the years. Hope to keep it that way.
  4. Crap!! That's alotta snow!!! (when it's tall as a freak'n train engine........that's ALOT of snow) Only thing we ever had around here was the storm of 1978. Nothing like that, but was the "Big one" around here. Rob: you needed a generator to keep the frig running to keep the food cold?? Did ya notice the snow outside?? LOL!!! (ya, I know you want it cold, not frozen).
  5. Congrats Rob.........and Nikki. I made a whole year and half of college before I ran far, far away!!! Already had a job(and after 23 yrs still there). Good or bad, but these days you NEED college education to get a job at Walmart!! LOL!!! Man, them equations bring back some memories of Electric shop(that was my major in HS)! Really enjoyed that kinda stuff, still do but never get to play with it.
  6. Neat set up! Didn't learn that in a day.
  7. That SUV is so late model............you can almost smell the new interior from here...............................
  8. Hey, sorry to be late to the party, I've been on the run myself. Was a good time Thurs evening, though like Greg mentioned......Rob, you need to take better care of yourself. Man, I see why you need to drive a Dually around for a daily driver.
  9. I haven't looked at my build sheet in quite a while. Does it list a part no for the axles? Using that part number, you should be able to tell the weight rating.
  10. Saw him a few years ago at Quaker City raceway. He AIN'T steering that thing....it just goes straight from where ever he started LOL!! Rock'n and roll'n the whole way. It's crazy.
  11. I took the outer frame off my B because of spreading. They were only about 12ft long, but still a beach to get unhooked. Took a few hits with sledge and a longgg bar to get them to fall off. Glad to hear you got them apart.
  12. Looks great..............wanna come up and do my B? LOL!!! It's got 50 yrs of grease all over the chassis that needs cleaned off. (still need to get me a pressure washer).
  13. You guys are giving me all kinds of new job ideas LOL!!! Though it looks like the uniform covers a bit TOO much...............DOH!!
  14. I've seen pics of that before. Pretty cool to see it in person!! At a Ford event in Columbus every year, a really stock appearing one about that year shows up. I think he camps in it for the weekend? A little rough on the edges, but neat none the less. BTW, Rob had problems yesterday and didn't make it over to see me.
  15. Neat truck. Great story too. Hope you have lots of fun with it. Always wanted something like that, come in handy for trimming the trees around the house LOL!!!
  16. Ya, Summit motorsport park IS Norwalk. They bought the rights a year ago and put their name on it. Go every year for the all Ford show in July. We had a couple stick shift races there too. I did buy the wagon from the original owners. ALL stock and original(70K miles) down to the white mud flap out back. It was spotless condition(well taken care of) so I've tried to not cut it up any worse then I have to. My truck is black/white, which it's an EX General Towing truck(if you recall them), as they were all white with black fenders(like the old cop cars). I was down in Steubenville area last fall at a race and a fellow came up and said "that's Generals old truck, right?". Come to find out, he used to drive my truck back in the days.
  17. I used to get most at Brechbuhler, before they bought them(can't recall old name). Had an in at the late hours parts counter, as he would really take care of me. Used R/R a few times and the fellow remembers me when I do stop in. Not many B models around and when I mention that he remembers me. May 2-3 isn't good for me, though after that is possible. We'll play it by ear.
  18. Well surprisingly Rob will be at the house Sat afternoon, sometime?(to be determined). I've got a fellow stopping from Hinkley to pick up some pick up truck parts. Should be around most of the day? Might get lunch with buddies? Depends on how it all falls together(or apart?). Could take the trucks down to "Legends" (next to the BMV) and have lunch? Suppose to be nice weekend!
  19. Thanks, I'll be happy to know there is a simple switch over. If the upper bracket isn't available...I'll make it! Have steel, have welder, will travel!! I know my B has the heavy axle under it, though never actually found the numbers on it.
  20. Good to hear you're going to make some progress Trent.
  21. CAK: Canton Akron Airport, though we call it Akron Canton Airport. Nice looking cars Brett. Definitely outta my league LOL!! We go 11.3's on average with 428 FE and a Doug Nash 5 spd. I run an all stick shift group called UMTR (united manual transmission racers) that runs NE Ohio. www.umtrnorth.com My "twins"
  22. That ain't right.
  23. Haven't got the car back to my garage yet, next week? First points race is May 23rd, so with my "vacation week" the first of May I will have no problem getting it back into one piece. Still working on buddies car and he's finishing it up this week, so hopefully next week he'll haul it out and bring mine back. If you get bored someday...fly up to CAK and I'll buy ya a coffee! I'm only a mile from the airport.
  24. Macks AND Fords...................PERFECT! Welcome aboard Brett. Get some pics posted when you get a chance. We really like EYE CANDY!! (trucks too)
  25. Ya, I suppose if you got rid of the gawdy sized MACK across the grille, it would be more subtle looking? I'd be curious to find who made the nose? And why? To each their own I suppose. I've seen alot worse.
