If you can't explain it you don't understand it! You are claiming phase change is happening below the boil point! That is not how thermal dynamics is.  Phase change happens when either the pressure is below the boil point at a given temp, or the temp is above the boil point at a given pressure, period! We are talking about a full system that is enclosed.

You can't rip the liquid apart by physical action alone.

Steady on there Geoff, that's a pretty serious accusation

I have tried my best to explain something to you, I  never claimed to of been a expert in physics

I never finished high school

However, that doesn't mean I'm stupid either, so perhaps stop the insults

I can't teach someone that doesn't want to learn, someone can't learn if they think they know everything

A simple comment about is air trapped in a pump housing turns into this mess

Ah well, maybe someone has learnt something here, maybe they are convinced now that I am dumb ass and don't know my ass from my elbow due to not having a proper education in teaching and thermal dynamics

Dunno ???

Not a lot more I can add here, I have tried my best

Paul, I did not mean to be insulting, Please accept my apology if anything I wrote came across as such. That was not the intent.

I do try to understand what you were saying and square that with the laws of physics as I understand those by the people who taught them to me.

I think this is one of a few things we are not going to be able to agree on. I too am willing to let it go.

If yours is a Sheppard, I've done it a few times, and whipped my butt each time, I did get them in, however. Being on a cabover and working under the cab and in front of the wheel was no fun.

farm I help out at to keep busy there are dumpsters parked . right now there is a dumpster from a metal fabricating shop. at least two floor cranes are in it besides countless pieces of steel. makes me sick to see the two cranes in there. I can't use them or store them. two 5 gallon pails ;one full of sockets another full of wrenches. the waste in todays world.

Wow, I could use a crane to hoist my stew pot from the hand truck onto the stand. I got a hand truck to haul it from the shed to the stand when I got the new bigger, stronger, faster stew pot but it's all I can do to get it from the hand truck up onto the stand.

Excellent thanks for letting us know and Niel I think Geoff also mentioned that same item that’s amazing. I have never heard of it, but it makes perfect sense. Looks like Gear reduction unit. I have the same issue. I don’t have anything around here bigger than three-quarter breaker bar… bob

No, I mentioned a torque multiplier, which is a different item, one reads the torque passing through it and the other increase the output relative to the input (more movement on the input gives smaller movement but higher torque on the output)

You could use both, the multiplier to be able to reach higher torque in a small area and the meter to accurately tell you when you have reached the desired torque. One is a "transmission" in a lower gear and the other directly reads the torque applied.

I think I have mentioned this in another thread about doing wheel seals and torquing axle nuts but Harbor Freight makes this device. Turns any breaker bar into a torque wrench up to 750 ft*lb. Works very well. It is made in Taiwan not China so the quality is good an its only $65

3/4 in. Drive, 150 to 750 ft-lb Digital Torque Adapter

Thanks for reminding me.  I may just pick one up for that price.

Looks like it may beep or show a preset number you want to reach?

The multiplier allows you to pull 100# and exert 700#.  The digital versions makes you pull the 700# yourself.

Won't reach far enough.

Once I get the template and holes drilled it won't be such an ordeal just shoving it in the hole.  If I had to hold it for a long time I would be in trouble.

A bit of progress tonight after dinner with Karen.  I got ambitious to see if I could get the input out of the transmission.

Yup.

Thanks all for the push to just try and knock it apart without any fancy tools.  I watched a YouTube video of a guy doing it like mentioned.  Few smacks with a hammer and it all popped apart.  Worse part was getting snap ring off the front.  Had to mangle it but a new one comes in the kit.

Googled kits and found local Pete dealer has Eaton kit for $260.  I will be getting that tomorrow after work.   Pt 2468 has everything and more then I need.

Question for the masses:

The plastic 3/16" fuel return line.  Mack part only?  It is reinforced plastic but only slips on fittings, no ferrel or clamps.  Mine is pretty rough and needs replaced.

I did get the crank hub installed the other night and balancer is on.  Just need bigger torque wrench to get to 300ft/lb.  Buddies only goes 250#.

lube oil return port on front housing at 4:30 . match front cover on reinstall  not any good now but ; I had a 600 lb torque wrench. gave it to someone since moving I had no need for it. challenge is thinking of who now :: can't remember who.
