  1. The high end operating range of a Detroit 6V-53 was approximately 2800 RPM. They were a tad noisy though.Joe D.
  2. Thanks for the info to all. I never saw that old style brake chamber on a truck as late as 1970. I would think that late 1950'S was the last that style with all the bolts were used.I have a few trucks from the early 1960'S and none with those brake chambers.Joe D.
  3. From what is posted it looks like a politically correct appointment. No experience in field but it does break another glass ceiling. They are not righting a wrong but just making another wrong appointment. I have nothing against anyone being appointed to a position as long as they are qualified. The first female Attorney General in Penna. history is always in the soup as she is way over her head. They keep saying how they broke the glass ceiling on the good old boys.Joe D.
  4. As Paul said out of business Bankrupt. Joe D.
  5. fifth wheel I have been asking that question for years about the air over hydraulic brakes on U.S.Military Tactical trucks for years. So far yours is the best answer I received about fording capabilities. Thanks Joe D.
  6. mrsmackpaul or Vlad As the U.S. Govt. was known for ordering heavy tactical trucks with air over hydraulic brakes ( Duece+one half-5 ton) could you tell me what brakes are on your trucks with the heavy Timken Rears ? Thanks Joe D.
  7. It would be perfect for traveling to truck shows. Plenty of room to live and truck is certainly heavy enough to pull tag along trailer with B,R-Model or whatever you have. It would be fairly economical to operate with the 300. I do not know how it would run as a 350 with a 5 speed though. Joe D.
  8. ranchhopper I have to agree the best thing to happen to big trucks was power steering. I had a IH CO 4000 you would have to stand up in the seat o back into a tight dock at some of the warehouses we delivered too. Joe D.
  9. Nice either way. Thanks Joe D.
  10. I have a 1965 REO Model D-630. It is a long wheelbase tandem V-8 440 cu.in. REO engine,5X3 trans. Sheet metal is decent. Although I like the Lansing Cab REO'S they do not have a lot of $$$ value. Some of the later REO gas engines had liners. They were good trucks in their day. My REO is worth more in scrap than in resale. Just my opinion. Joe D.
  11. I would think one of the reasons Mack used 2 switches so you could flash trailer lights without loosing headlights.Like the switch on top of dash on R,F and U-Models to flash headlights or trailer lights. Great idea. Joe D.
  12. That was Macks's way of identfying different Models. Same as R,F or U- Model use 607,685, 686 etc.Never any stupid questions. Joe D.
  13. In the 1970'S we had 5 trucks hauling cars mostly off the East Coast docks. When in Toledo Ohio we loaded Jeeps for KAT or Dallas +Mavis both were owned by Jupiter Corporation or in Kalamazoo,Michigan Checker Cabs.We would trip lease loads from them back East. When loading alongside the KAT or Dallas and Mavis Trucks loading Westbound for California with the Erector Set Trailers the Drivers said they would load 2 street sweepers back East I think they were Elgin built in California. They were good days back then as cars were set up on a rate that paid to return empty. When loaded both ways was the Bonanza. Joe D.
  14. When oil cooler went on my F-Model Mack it contaminated the radiator. Joe D.
  15. Mark they all have that Colgate Smile. Joe D.
  16. Al 1036 pretty low production #. Being a 607 was engine a END 673 ? How about trans ? Thanks Joe D.
  17. Felicello What year Toyota Tacomas are eligible for the frame replacement ? Thanks Joe D.
  18. I think it was 1973 that they added 3" to back of cab. To me that was one of the best improvements made. Joe D.
  19. I would have thought the cable would have broken before frame. Joe D.
  20. I do not think he ever liked the U.S.A. and its principles to start with.If he did he would not have such a Socialist Agenda. Joe D.
  21. Much easier doing your own tire work with spokes. If spoke hub is not shot not much of a problem to true up with a 4"x4" board. Checking them is much easier also with a 3/4" ratchet and 1 1/4" socket.Joe D.
  22. mrsmackpaul what rears do you have and what ratio do you want to change over to ? There is a place in Scranton,Pa Truck Parts Inc. 570 346 1861 or 570 343 4647.that has some old inventory. Joe D.
