  1. There was one overhere. The guys who towed the MH to me had it in their yard to make a local job. Told it was British army recovery truck. Was imported from GB not long ago and redone into LHD RHD common steering. I looked over it having the reason to get it for the papers because nobody here can find a difference between Scammel and most old Mack. They rated that beast way toooo pricy.
  2. I'm surprized and glad there was so much posted along this thread. Thank you for the suggestions, I think you're right. I just can't me shure 100%. Only about 95 By the way I parted out totally one of those sleepers. Found neither manufacturer's marks. And the way it was built... The sheet metal all around was stainless excepting the roof. Wich rotted through as a follow. They "saved" a piece of SS using common shit sheet in the front under the entry (nobody can see behind a cab). Those storage door handles were located different by heigth about 10 mm (half an inch). Looks like someone cutted the holes for them doing no measurments, just "by eye". I'm pretty shure nobody had those redone, that was from factory.
  3. Thank you Mike. I just woner can I use the one above on MH (if it's for sale separately off the cab)? Maybe just to make a measurement from side to side? I remember you posted once the truck yard wich had some used MH parts in stock including cabs. I tried to email them and call also with no luck. Not too hard though, too many projects are going by.
  4. Can anybody explain about the sun visor on the cab - is it of the same kind wich used on early MH's? If yes I'd like to get a cost quote on. Any thoughts on the condition of those 4.17 diffs? Air lock? General view (pic)? Vlad
  5. Wow, looks like a good day I'm too surprized seing so many H's at one time. I'm shure not an expert of American truck market but keep my eye on them. What was the truck with the red cab next to two H's on the 3rd pic? The cab seems to me as British Scammel/Leyland. Aren't they rare beasts overthere at you?
  6. You just didn't note that gentleman payed attention to us first http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/36178-1964-b755/
  7. That air cleaner is one of the parts wich are on this truck fully restored. I had two of them on two trucks so I took the better one. Had to drill off the weld to take out the pipe to attach air horse because of rust in between. Sand blasted every thing separately than welded back. Had to weld some rusty spots. Brang to the paint shop where they primered it and put some overpaintable liquid seal onto every seam. Than painted it the future truck color. The straps were a different story. I bought 304 SS strips, formed them and polished. Drilled the old straps off the brackets. Sand blasted brackets and primered them. Than welded new straps to the brackets and after that painted the body color having the straps masked. Bought SS nuts and put everything together. All that took about 3 calendar months.
  8. Don't worry about that. A couple of years back Farmer52 determined all payments from Russia to do in Vodka By the word, do you still have access to those ex UPS MH's? I need some stuff for the my one but just use to keep this question outta my brains
  9. Pretty cool fire truck Maybe it's too rare indeed but I like it just for the big nose and the L-model cab. Shure nice addition to your collection.
  10. Would be interesting to know what they will tell.
  11. Interesting point about the girls who were looking for some wood... I like the MH and the train and the peach and so on and so on. And I too like to see the part of the world I have never been too. Thanks again. That polar bear is cool. Along my last big trip I also saw the animal.
  12. Wow, that looks like a good deal. Nevertheless the time spent. Hope the thing is in really good shape to just make up a bit. And crossing the border with such the load for $70... If I'd like to carry a trailer looking like the one on the picture from Europe to Russia I'm not shure I can do it having $7000
  13. Glad to let you know I'm a happy guy having such a nice support crue The trolley valve handle was half applied. I got my son invovlved into wire connecting to give him some minimum practice. After he has done with the indicators I sent him into the cab to switch them for the test. So looks like he made a bit much for that. I just never had the idea that trolley valve can do anything when red knob isn't applied. Moved and greased the threadle valve top by the way
  14. Welcome to the site! Nice looking truck, I'm too glad seeing it refreshed
  15. Sounds like interesting news to me.
  16. Looks surprizingly straight and tough! Hope you'll fire her up soon. And don't forget to post pics along the project. Vlad
  17. Sad day.
  18. Thank you for the advices guys. Gearhead - the lights are indeed on when in parking and the key is on although they get off when the knobs released. If the service brake switch is disconnected of wires or the air line. That trolley valve handle on the steering column I didn't check moving, will try. Good point about the top of the threadle valve. I got it half stuck after this past winter (and almost stuck on the second R I haven't started much longer). I applied WD-40 on them both, had to turn the plunger around with pliers and put some engine oil on. After some movements it looked well. About the same with the pin and the roller. Now looks like I need to pay attention to it again. I will
  19. Finally attached the mud flaps to the light bars, got the protection film off them and connected wires. Although got a trouble. Brake lights fired up after pressing the pedal but didn't go off when released. I had some challenge around parking knobs and so on and finally got the lights off taking off one of the wires on the service brake light switch on the firewall. Today I took it apart, found nothing wrong but some patina. Cleaned up and put back. Switched the ignition - lights were on (parking). Made air pressure up and released parking knobs - lights went off - Ok. Than applied service brakes several times. They made all good but after 6-7 times the lights went steady. I was surprized being shure the switch was good and after some thoughts disconnected the air line to it. There was a good flow from it and the lights got off immediately. I kept the line off for some while with no difference of the air pressure in it. Then I sat in the cab and applied service brakes. The sound of air from the tube changed, got much harder than with the pedal released. But the there was still hard air flow from the pipe with brakes released. So is it a problem with the foot valve? Any suggestions on what to look over? Vlad
  20. That's cool!
  21. Looks like a cool show, many interesting trucks. Thank you for posting.
  22. Glad to know you sold her to the good hands and got back some amount of your labour and time.
  23. Thanks to Randy he showed me Bethlehem plant during my visit. It was too interesting and impressive and much more sorry to see how the things turned out. Glad to know you had a nice time, FWD is shure a candy to look at on a sunny day
  24. All that above is too interesting and funny to read about when have no such a problem. My MH has been sitting for a while with no hubs and wheels (and no move). By the way I took apart the pedal assembly and the steering column foundation to paint over. Since that there's a hole in the floor and the neighbour's cat used to spend time slipping on the driver's seat. I was angry seeing all the wool he lost on the seat although now I got another mind on that fact
  25. Best of luck with the project! I hope it will race cool.
