Yes, the bear was very strong and pissed off. And too probably shocked. The guy who was telling about a knife was too probably shocked either and didn't know WHAT he was actually going to do. At least it seemed to me that way. Don't know where those folks drunk or not. Maybe not, just too much emotions hitted them. And I'm pretty sure the event took place in a far and low-habitated area of the country. Bears along with much other wild life are scarce in the areas people live. Too much of illegal hunting took place in the distant past.

Yes, they were. Honestly I had expectations on what I will hear but have to state I'm not ready to type everything of their speach on here. The start words with 2 or 3 repeats were "We must kill him right now". Than "give me a knife and I'll do that". Than later woman's voice starts screaming "the bear is about to get out, guys come into the car ASAP." Needless to say 60% of the speach is "what the f***ing hell" and so on.

Or for the actual part. Need a part# for the rubber gasket/seal for the R-model left side cowl vent.

Yes, I agree on what you think on the matter. With the cost dance of one hundred plus-minus you have much more spending in time and attention. I know what it is, also have an idea to reproduce Superliner fender turn lights in bronze. i suppose it could be made here in Russia for nearly $100 apiece if order 4-10 castings. Haven't worked it out because no actual need at the moment - no Superliner.

Tom, thank you for the deeper excursion. Interesting thoughts floated up in my mind. Here in Russia you can find many really old and ancient memorial objects such as churches, kremlins, monasteries and so on.Some of them are dated as 10 hundreds years old or so. But on the other hand much newer but either vintage artifacts of for example industrial kind are quite scarce.Being in Netherlands I once noted a really old riveted roof structure above a railroad platform. It was in a small city and a local station. But the roof looked vintage, well-cared and solid. In Russia you can seldom see anything really old in service. The most things get redone every 5-15-30 years and many are poor-made structures. Maybe excepting some really large railroad bridges made of steel. And what I dislike nobody estimate such objects as any historical value. Everything working must work and that's all. Sure there's a reason of shortage of old buildings and so due to the WW2 which took a really large part of the country. Actually you can easily recognize the area of German occupation and non-occuped just be the number of old churches. But The Netherlands were occupied either. And Dutches have those vintage railroad staitions/ Russians - don't. P.S. The said above has direct relation to old trucks either.

Yes, as said above. The boot tops on the pan and than you put sheet metal frame on top of it and secure with machine screws. My R has a carpet from the factory but now its condition doesn't allow to judge it was atop of the boot retainer originally or below. More looks like 1st case. The boots itself are a mystery to me. There are two styles of them (both avalible from PAI). One is a small rectangular shape and another is elliptic on its sides. And twice larger. The 1st one is what I have in the R. The 2nd one is installed in MH but I saw some pics of Superliners (and R's ?) with that big one either.

I like that covered bridge no less than red R-model. Could you drive through that one? No, I don't mean with the R-model

I would take one valve cover bulldog. No real need in a set in the distant future but I'd like to have at least a sample. Of silver it could be possible to make a shell shaped part, not a solid casting as original bronze is. I suppose not a hell of job to correct the 3D object for. Just have no idea of how the casting machine works with thin forms.

Do you consider $85-90 apiece including chrome-plating or a brass casting only? Suppose plating itself would take about that worth or at least a half of. As for the size decrease due to brass (oh, bronze, sorry) shrinkage I see two ways to go. The 1st and more clear one is copying the existing parts with silicone compound. Than further as I know guys cast wax or steorine into the silicone and than make a form of gyps over the wax model. Further they melt the wax out and cast bronze into the gyps. Cracking the latter after the metal is cold you get what you want. Maybe with some size decrease, I honestly have no idea. Another more complicated way is to 3D scan the parts and than draw a 3D model which you can easily rescale to compensate any size decrease. Upps, you need to 3d print it first. Or there could be another option to make it of a piece of brass by computer-operated milling machine. Sure any of those ways is an entertainment.

Is the one you have with those 3 dimples has 3 horisontal lines on the front wall istead of an "X" pressing? Looks like Canadian cover to me. I even have this one and I don't need it. So if you come pick it up I'd give you a cup of tea either P.S. As far as I know an American style "X" cover puts in place of that one as like it was there before for years.

Italian marks are in the competition with Britishes about rust. I think Lancia, FIAT or Alfa are relatively rare occupants on North American roads but here they used to sell some. Not many survivors down the road now taking to account the cars were sold not long ago. At the same time Russian Lada being a license production of FIAT (originally) showed its property during many years. Actually they just started showing holes after 5-6 years of all-year driving.

If you're going to rebuild them I'd say take the carriers out and revise the bearings the interwheel diffs turn on. I got there on two pairs of 1945 Mack carriers which looked almost the same style as yours and later on a pair of CRD92/93 off 1988 R-model. Found out outer races deadly pitted on 3 pairs of the bearings (6 pieces of 8 at all) of 1945 and on two pairs (all bearings) of the R. Could buy new races and cones but spent sufficient worth on them and pre-load reinstall is a procedure to pass through. On the other hand I'm not sure to advice you to get in there or to not. I'd expect nearly 80% chances your bearings are bad but I'd also expect the same thing for the most running old Macks. And they're all running at the same time

I'v got a nice moment with my 1989 Jaguar car (which was bought for nearly nothing in a reason of the paperwork) Once a roll back truck came to load it bringing to my home the driver put me by the car's wheel to steer onto the platform. Tha latter was not sliding down one so there were ramps. When you're getting up the most thing you see over you is the sky. And in such moment you prefere to hear or ask for the direction from a person outside. That's what I tried to do but found out the window lifters inoperatable and the driver door not able to open due to the platform side board. So I got in a light panic for a moment and than found out I didn't need and directions... Because I clearly saw the ramps and everything below me through the floor
