In my particular case I ended up with Bowers paying $70 for each race and $45 for a cone. You can see those figures were much friendly than the official offers. Sure NOS. And I got all that in my hands in 3 or 4 weeks, not 15 As for travels I landed at JFK safe and sound on Thursday and going to check in at Macungie showgrounds after some roaming along the East coast.

Some more views from my travel. A couple of were catched when over the icey waters of North Polar Ocean and those with small rocks in the snows are the North coast of Canada somewhere in Newfoundland. And the river somewhere deeper into the country. On a side note I'm currently in the USA visiting my friend's family in NJ and hope to see some of your happy faces at Macungie soon

By some reason I had ocassion to fly over a part of North Norway. The weather was found fine so I made a bit of picture work from the window. Those tight clouds on the last two shots covered the area above Athlantic ocean.

No, 707 gasser had different block from 673. First thing it didn't have a hole to attach an injection pump, just unbored flat spot. And the 2nd it had larger bore, the kind (or the same?) END711 had. Not sure the crank was similar and the head studs pattern might vary either.

VIN # tags for door on R Model
Vladislav replied to Dougsr's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Once I found an offer for one on e-bay. It looked strange a bit but worth friendly. I ended up ordering just to check. Found out it was way out of what I'd like to see. Machine-sanded and the picture was made with paint (high print), not almost as an original tag looked like. The seller was Sparr truck from Florida. -

Jason, Yes, I got the data and resolved my problem either. The original need was for a pair of Timken/SKF/Bower 47622W / 47622BW to finish rebuild of CRD32/33 diffs for my WW2 Mack. It's a very long story, the reason was to get faster from 9.02 and 40mph top speed. A 5 years long search ended up with a pair of bevel gear sets off a B-model supplied by one of our fellow members. That allowed me to mosly complete the FR. But when I got myself to the RR the interwheel diff bearings were found pitted really bad. It had happened that I had two sets of the diffs what meant 4 sets of diff bearings. Unfortunately I could use one of them only. So looked for extra bearings. Having hopes to use them from CRD92/93 (look siimilar) I put this thread on here. But finally having no clear answer during some while I just pulled one CRD 92 off a deep corner and what was pleasant I could read the numbers on the race without removing it. And those numbers were different from what I was needing at the time. So I rifled through e-bay and ordered a pair of races (L and R) and a pair of cones. They were not really cheap but reasonable in relation to other options. Being honest I was surprized seeing a cost of nearly $250 for just a bearing race and $150 for the cone to add. Now the bearings are already on my bench but no time to get to the carrier. And just tomorrow I'm going to be in almost another part of the world instead.

Bought two today

Congrats on the purchase. From what you described it sounded like worth the deal on my mind. Could be a beautiful looking truck if freshened up -
RA45 Wheel Seals
Vladislav replied to firenut's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Strange a bit but sure possible. On the other hand you can't always be sure an old truck has all its parts original. And as long as you already got that issue I'd take a hub off ans measure the seal. Pretty sure no problem locating a new one knowing the sizes. And that's the way I always have to do. Could also check for a reference having parts ## but actual size is a double-check. My 1945 Mack has 88AX110 front spindle seals. Those cross with newer Mack seals used in R-model and avalible from Stemco and others. Also sometimes you can modify parts when can't find a seal of a correct size by machining or sleeving of a shaft or making a spicer tube to accomodate a smaller OD seal. -

Lexington Kentucky maths show

Thank you for sharing the pics of those nice looking trucks guys. I'm going to put my eye on some of them soon either. And currently getting exited. -
Cool pics, Tom. Thanks for sharing. The one with the boat is a real hit this time. i laughed quite well. Impressive bridge. Don't use to see that long ones of just two lanes. Probably here traffic became more intensive to make at least 4 lanes to the moment Russia got skilled enough to build long bridges. Or another reason. Surprized seeing that big red Mack/Renault. Thought they were on Aussie market only. And RHD. There was a pic somewhere of a similar truck with Russian plates on. I'll try to find it. If that one is LHD it means was imported from the US. On the other hand I have never seen a truck imported from Australia here. Ok, with the exception of two WW2 Studebakers US-6 for some museum. Of the Renaults the Magnum model looks as a cool truck on my taste (especially Mack-rebadged) but that red smaller one seems just as a regular thing. Ehh, and when I see a light green R-model.. I always like to look at light green R-models

Which Friday?? Tom, I sure keep in mind your mentioning about the plans to attend. And too hope to finally meet you in person. I would do it much earlier but that Hellertown BBQ party spot trucker club always seemed way far from my location than I would like to.

Electrical Mack Tail lights
Vladislav replied to Keith S's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Look too modern on my taste. And I'm partial to Jim's opinion about the directionals. Don't you like those boxed SS light bars which are also spring-loaded flap hangers? They could be bought as a cheap version of 430 steel for nearly $130 (as mines were and stay good) and there's also version with no cut-outs at all so you can apply your own imagination designing the lights on them. -
Transmissio swap from T2090 to T2070
Vladislav replied to Vladislav's topic in Engine and Transmission
Thank you for the care, I have such one on a shelf. Could grab at Macungie flea grounds in 2013. Funny thing I was already pulling $50 from my pocket and the seller corrected me he needed only $5 Now it seems I should add T2060/2070/2080 long compaund book to my Mack treasures stock. As for the parts books they would be handy when you try to figure out a part crossing between different units. Seeing similar part ## in two transmissions you know you can use the part from one in the other. I always do that with Mercedes along my job. The parts catalog in on the net and no troubles to relate different iron pieces or just look at a blow scheme to figure out a matter of design and function of many assemblies. In relation to that Mack seems as a tight clouds zone. Drove the truck more today. Got deeper into opinion that tranny is not what I would like to live with. Actually I drive in direct the most of the time. Can do lower shifts but the intervals seems long for the engine. And about no places I could put it in the overgear. Did it only once for a short time on a part of a 8 lane highway. Also I strill can't understand how to shift (and accelerate) the truck fast. Every shift takes plenty of time. And when I put a next higher gear the revs are low so no hard gas pedal pressing until they increase. And slow acceleration at all. As a result a headach to drive in traffic with lights and crossings wherever you go. Tried both double clutching and with no clutch. Probably I should drive it more but better to know the right way. -
Transmissio swap from T2090 to T2070

Interesting. Saw repair manuals on ebay many times but never a parts book. Would help alot. -
An animal! Who was a producent of the drive axles?
-
My deep thanks to all those American veterans who fought Nazys during WW2 helping to save many and many of Soviet soldier's lives on East front in Europe. Unfortunately not many in Russia now remember that. The authorities put lots of efforts to lower down the importance of the fact. Mostly during the Cold War and also later. It's not a nice way of "doing a business" on my mind when you grow up your own worth by putting down a role of others and hiding or deforming historical truth at the same time.

Transmissio swap from T2090 to T2070
Vladislav replied to Vladislav's topic in Engine and Transmission
That's what I thought I could achieve if marry T2070 main box with T2130 compound. Interesting that Mack made 13-speed in T200 series but didn't duplicate a 12-speed in it to offer a kind of 5-speed with intermediate splits. Probably because you still could order a truck with 12-speed during 80's. -
Transmissio swap from T2090 to T2070
Vladislav replied to Vladislav's topic in Engine and Transmission
This makes sence. The engine seems as a standard E6-350 Econodyne but I have no idea how the pump is calibrated. Will go look for the engine tag, one of the trucks still has something on its block. I'm pretty sure nobody ever try to calibrate the pump here, maybe only for checking the supply amounts. On the other hand when I rev it up on the gears lower than the top one it feels like it pulls worse at the high end. But maybe not too actual for the top speding. 77MPH would be quite enough. Interesting that there's a factory sticker on the door sill in the cab which states the truck came from the factory riding on 285/75R24.5 tires. So must be already a bit faster with 11R24.5. -
fuel tank question
Vladislav replied to vansite89's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
My R-model (frame rail shape is generally similar to a RD excepting the heigth and thickness) has all the tank brackets of the J-style including the front ones. But when you investigate them removed it could be found that the J's themself are almost simiar but the front brackets which attach the J's to the rails are made shorter (less offset to the outside of the truck) and slightly tapered to be fitted onto the rail's side which spreads at the front section of the chassis. So no use of a general style intermediate bracket from common rear tank mounts.
