ULSD fuel does not have the lubricating properties as of old but use a good Diesel fuel conditioner (Stanadyne, Power Service, etc.) and you should be okay for storage.

Just learned Jim Winsor passed away today. We lost a true friend of the trucking industry. Thanks Jim for all you did. I must say I am proud to have known Jim and interacted with him at TMC (Technology and Maintenance Council). My condolences to Jim's wife and family. May he rest in peace. From a friend: In his last days Jim was very alert and still sharp with his memory, especially about TMC and all his friends. He always asked about the current events and still remembered most of the events of the past. Thanks Randy for the write-up on the Maxidyne engine.

Hopefully I can get a "nice" copy (of the magazine) at Watt's. -
Good suggestion Carl. Also, after you leave it soak, try "tapping" the top of the piston with a 2x4 and then soak again. This may create a "crack" to allow oil to seep along the rings. Repeat as necessary. Update: after reading PZ1's post below - perhaps you can rig a press to put pressure on the piston then soak it like Carl's states. Combination of soaking and pressure may break it loose.

I was thinking that Werner truck must be the only truck in their fleet that did not have an accident. Or is a new one that was put there BEFORE it had an accident?

Nice pics. Thanks for posting. Only been to DC once and that was for a business conference. I got in and out ASAP. As for flying, my saying was "a bad day traveling is better than a good day in the office". Glad you made it home safely.

Don is a very knowledgeable person and all around nice guy. He is my "go to" person at the museum. I wish him well if he has decided to retire. But the "selfish" side of me hopes he will be around for many years.

Personally I like a 5" straight with flapper (ting ting ting) but a curved stack is the best. Are you pulling a van trailer or flat bed. If van, you will need a stack tall enough to exit near the top of the trailer roof. If flat bed, short curved stack just above the roof line. But it is your truck so do what YOU like.
