  1. Go to the Australian Mack web site and check out the Trident. This is one bad a** looking truck. It seems like it would be pretty simple to offer this hood(bonnet) as an option on the axle forward CH. Also since Mack is starting to offer Cummins as an option for natural gas engines why not the diesel as well. Some people like cummins engines and are geared up for maintenance on them etc. Volvo offers a Cummins option why not there step child Mack.
  2. I thought SCR/DPF was mandatory to meet 2010 EPA regs. Maybee 2009's were just mandatory DPF.
  3. There have been quite a few comments about Mack getting the volvo cab and that being the straw that breaks the camels back as far as volvo and Mack being the same. As far as cabs go I believe both volvo and Mack use cabs built by Mayflower. When the cab contract comes to an end I guess they will probably choose the best one or an entirely new cab. In years gone by International FWD Hendrickson Sicard and others all used the same cab. This cab was usually refered to as the International cab but actually it was built by Chicago manufacturing. The B model cab was also built by Chicago manufacturing. Actually the B model cab was very similar to Reo and KB Internationals. The LT and H model were very similar. If you look at the B-model integral sleepers it looks like the back end of an H-model incorpotated into the front end of the B model. Cabs being built by third parties is nothing new.
  4. If you go to the Mack web site there is an engineer there that answers questions about the 2010 models and there pollution devices. I think it is under talking SCR. If you read through the questions and replies from him (about 10 pages worth)I get the impression that he is pretty positive about Mack going forward. Granted that is his job to be positive. He is one of the transfers down to North Carolina. Give it a look see and see what ya'll think.
  5. volvo haters and Mack lovers take heart. From the volvo web site year to date volvo sales 3986 units and year to date Mack sales 4240 units. volvo brass do you get the message. This go around instead of dropping Autocar White/GMC etc. Why not drop volvo and push Mack. Just to clarify these stats are for the North American market.
  6. Just because you are strange doesn't make you a bad person.
  7. Check the distributer cap for carbon arcing. It may be a cylinder firing at the wrong time. Sometimes you have to wipe out the inside of the cap to see the carbon tracks. The spark actually travels over these arc lines to another cylinder firing it at the wrong time. Just a thought.
  8. I know i am engaging in a criminal activity (checking the volvo web site). I check there to see Mack deliveries for the month. It appears that the D11 is getting kicked up to 450 Hp, the D13 to 550 HP and the D16 to 700 HP. I wonder if the MP's will follow suite. It may just be a Europe thing. Sorry for the criminal activity but the Mack site doesn't appear to provide delivery info. long live what's left of Mack. Later buds.
  9. Just a guess but magnadyne may have had its origin from magneto.
  10. Back to the original question before the turn. Thermo means heat and dyne is a measure of energy thus thermodyne equals heat energy. originally this was probably a marketing tool. Maxidyne- maximum energy (guess). Econodyne- economy energy (guess). I believe thermodyne started with the b models. Before that the L and A models were just mack diesel if I remember correctly.
  11. Hey current Mack mechanics. Did they ever solve the problems with the early MP8 valve train problems and if so what was the fix. Have a nice Mack day
  12. If I remember right about 25 years ago Mack was going to help the soviets build a truck plant in Kam something or another. The deal fell through as I recall for political reasons. Maybee there was some under the table deal.
  13. Barry Great photos. Couldn't tell from the pictures of the titan if it had camelbacks, and was the transmission & rear end a mack.
  14. Nice catch HK. I'll bet that was their original intent , but now it appears that they are going to take a different approach. Perhaps a long gradual death. I don,t know. If sales stay strong they may have change their evil minds.
  15. Sorry to hear about the news 3P and all the other personnel in Allentown also. Sounds like the people that transfer will just mix into the volvo corporate soup down in NC. Keep your heads up I was able to find a good job at 57 years old after being let go. It won't be easy but hang in there. Maybee it will be a good thing for Mack separating out of NRV. They may be able to keep the Mack identity a little longer. Maybee they are getting ready to spin Mack off. You never know with these last minute announcements. Again good luck to all involved. It can only get better from here. I'll bet the Mack brothers are spinning at 2100 rpm in their graves.
  16. One positive thing about a leaker. You can find your way back home.
  17. I think I like the Aussie line up a tad better than the US lineup. Dump the Pinnacle axle forward and give us the the Trident and Superliner. Add the metro liner to the construction line. Offer Cummins as they do down under.
  18. From the truckworld web site it looks like metro liner is all cummins, trident is mack/volvo, granite is mack/volvo. superliner is all cummins and titan is cummins. Why not cummins for pinnacle AF?
  19. Whats up with the Australian Mack web site. It hasn't changed since last November. They talk about the Metro liner comming in February 2008. It's July. There are no spec sheets for anything. Did the Cavalcade take a wrong turn. Sounds like the Aussies are on a walk about. Or maybee a volvolvian conspiracy.
  20. From the volvo web sight. 1425 Mack deliveries April & 1756 total. 1177 May & 1501 total.
  21. Do you think Pinnacle axle forward is a good model describtion. I think it borders on dumb. Leave the pinnacle name for the axle back but how about a new name for the axle forward. Maybee Superliner again. Why not they still use it in Australia. Also how about the Australian grills as an option for the axle forward.
