  1. Just confirmed what I thought. The resale value of the Star's is higher now.....because they have 65,000 Mack rears and solid trunion walking beams, LOL The Stars are gliders with 550 Cat's. The owner told me today....the CL's are tougher trucks.
  2. Old underground mine truck tires with a weight box on them. We are in the mountains and it's all big hills and cliffs in here. Perfect for an E9 V8!! I probably would have never left trucking if I still could by a new mechanically governed E9. Still waiting for them to take the Superliner out again. But they don't wanna get it dirty.
  3. The rubber grader. Again......nothing like the sound of a V8 working!
  4. Ya, saw that months ago. And like I said, a Fruitliner with W's all over it. It must be a real winner.....they keep delaying the release.
  5. Those are some awesome Autocar fire trucks!!!!
  6. Hopefully going to be getting more pics of the Superliner. But for now, more of the V8 CL. Gold dog. They don't make them like this any more.
  7. I have a 350B. The ERTL die cast version, LOL
  8. That's even better than the Volvo Autocar! Reminds me of my friends retired log truck. And no, he's not getting rid of it.
  9. That's the one model truck that Volvo had their name on that I liked.
  10. If I had talent (or money) I'd love to put one of those bodies (or the earlier generation) on my F550 chassis. I always loved the Loadstar's. I just don't need that much frame and suspension. My 550 is punishing enough.
  11. I just came back up to work for my week in the mine. Compared to the fuel I was putting in my F550 to make the 4 trips up here (I work every second week) this F150 is going to save me $380 a month in fuel alone!!! Unreal. Not to hijack the thread...lets see more Bronco's, but can you even call this work! LOL
  12. Awesome trucks and pics Hayseed. How popular were Fords over there? What was the popular motor back in the mechanically governed days for the non-Mack trucks?
  13. Oh is that right Red Horse. I thought everyone was pro Eco-Boost now. They seem to be doing ok and they pull really good. I would have taken one too. But I would never buy a used Eco with all those people taking internet advice and drilling holes in the intercoolers, LOL. But the 5.0 sure does sound nice! And I was shocked to see how much room to work under the hood. You can actually see the ground on both sides of the engine!! Ford Canada has the Bronco up on the web site now. The lowest priced base model starts at just over 40 grand. So still more than I paid for this. If I wasn't so scared about spending money on stuff that doesn't make me money I'd still love to have a Bronco, but I don't want to spend that.
  14. Now that's a dump truck!
  15. Ya, likely is for a loaded one. Here's the F150 I bought Red Horse. Plain jane but the price was right. Only 8 foot box I could find around here and got just over $13,000 off with all that employee pricing sale. Has the 5.0 V8 and 10 speed auto, locking rear diff and trailer package with brake controller. Didn't have the nice goodies I wanted like heated seats but there is a guy in town that installs heat in your seats for $500. Not sure if I'll even bother. And I wanted the LED spotlights in the mirrors and in the box but this truck doesn't have them, so I ordered a back rack and some LED light bars. Sure is a lot less punishing on the highway than the F550.
  16. I really want one of the new Bronco's. But while at my dealership getting some work done on my F550, my salesman friend said he is getting one and they are going to be $70,000 here in Canada. I just drove home in a new F150, LOL It was far cheaper.
  17. Yep. Only memories I want of my past trucking life are to look at this site and see old Mack's, Autocar's and Paystar's.
  18. Ever watch all the videos on Western Star's web site where the guy keeps saying as he shows all the components "Does it cost more? Well yes it does." LOL
  19. For all those that want to buy a Freightliner, but just wanna pay more. LOL
  20. I've said the same thing. I really miss the old interior I had in my 05 Paystar 5600i and the 9900i with the woodgrain and the white face gauges. I prefer it's classic look, but the new Cat style dash is functional and used friendly. I was also very disappointed with International erasing their past heritage and getting rid of the old names like Paystar. But I'll say it again.....of all the new current trucks, the HX is the quietest, smoothest riding truck I have driven when I tried a couple of them out. And the fit and finish and build quality were far above that of the 2013 and 2020 Western Star 4900's I was running. But don't matter now that I am done trucking. I will just keep the past fond memories and pics of my last Paystar.
  21. Yep. It is safer 28 miles underground than it is on the roads today.
