  1. And are your drums getting full of gravel every time you dump? On the last two Star's I ran (a 2013 and a 2020) they had the genius to make the bottom inspection plates stick out more than the tops. So it was like a funnel to fill the drums with every stone off the road.
  2. LOL. Kinda like the time I was running through a freezing rain and snow storm and pulled onto the plate with my truck and pony and looked at the display and it was reading 69,000 KG (152118 pounds). Legal is 63,500. The officer comes walking out with a big smile and I said "ya, I know." LOL He was cool....he knew what was going on. I said I'd shovel the snow off, but you'd have to call a plow for your parking lot. LOL
  3. Is it just the Mack's or are the new Volvo's being delivered with issues also?
  4. I'm really liking these. And the forward axle 520 is a worthy replacement to the 9900i.
  5. And I might be tempted to come back trucking again, lol
  6. Well, local construction company just got all their new Granite dump trucks in. Three have check engine lights on, one has ABS light on, one keeps breaking rear suspension levelling valves off and two went back due to bad driveline vibrations. That don't look good for the new Mack does it.
  7. Didn't Terex buy the last line of front discharge mixers Mack was making?
  8. Thanks guys! I'm not sure how many different brochures they had for them but I just wanted to see one with the original cab interior and the E9 V8. I've driven a few of them but never took pics back then. Wish I did. The last couple weeks having gotten to drive one of the V8 CL's in the mine has reminded me of how much I really liked those trucks.
  9. See the big sleeper on the heavy haul model. Take note Mack. This is why your Titan failed.
  10. I normally HATE new truck redesigns. Like the new Mack interiors.....horrible compared to the previous generation. But I like these. I am going to miss the old aluminum cab, but this LT/HV/Lonestar cab is much nicer than that Cat truck interior they had switched to. Still not as nice as my 2000 era 5600i and 9900i interiors, but better than the Cat interior.
  11. That's why I said OLD Mack's. There is a reason they are legendary.....and today, well not so much. LOL We will never see another truck as legendary as the old Mack's. Nothing made today will ever stand up. That's why now that I have retired from trucking, I was so happy to get the chance to drive the old Superliner and CL in the mine I now work at. They brought a huge smile to me face. Every new truck I have ran over the last few years made me want to commit suicide.
  12. Nothing better than old Mack's and farms.
  13. Cool. I've never seen any of those in my neck of the woods.
  14. Let's just get back to doing what this site is for.....enjoying OLD Mack's and bashing Volvo. LOL
  15. Where did you check the VIN? Is it possible to get the original specs of trucks still? I'd like to see the full specs of how these Mack's I have here at the mine were spec'd. They are pretty impressive.....E9 V8's, 65,000 Mack rears, etc.
  16. Those new seats are still ugly as hell though. I miss the previous interiors.
  17. Looks like Autocar is finally promoting it for dump truck use now. And an electric 6900XD. https://www.heavyequipmentguide.ca/article/35213/autocar-releases-severe-duty-class-8-work-truck https://www.heavyequipmentguide.ca/article/35198/western-star-truck-converted-into-first-electric-powered-heavy-vehicle-for-open-pit-mining

  18. I follow the antique tractor auctions and look what was just consigned. https://www.mecum.com/lots/GN1120-437030/1988-mack-ds-600/?utm_source=TTC&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=GN20
  19. Anyone have and care to scan a CL brochure when they had the E9 V8. I only have the CL brochure with the Signature 600 Cummins.
  20. Sand is lighter than the ore. Only 124,958 pounds/ 56.880 KG
  21. Yes, off road. They use those trucks so they can fit underground to load. They don't go all the way in. There is a bigger portal that only goes in a few hundred feet and that's where the ore and waste is elevated too. Plus they haul 20 KM from mine to mill over some pretty steep and long hills. And in all weather. So I think the trucks are more suited to this particular job.
