  1. I noticed that as well. Possible so that the round and "D" tanks use the same Fuel tank mount on the Frame rails?
  2. Let me guess. Is it a Low RPM 275HP motor?
  3. Macks rarely run away. Only time I have seen them do it is after a Turbo failed and let it run on oil. Dont think I ever heard of them running away on the pump. Last time I did injectors they were fairly cheap. think I was able to get Reman's for $60 ea
  4. You are so correct Terry. Please Let me rephrase..... Thou shall remove a Mack Rear mount PTO from a Six (6) speed Mack transmission and thou will re install on a Mack twelve (12) speed Transmission when the Mack twelve (12) speed transmission has the appropriate splined counter shaft already installed. Mack Six (6) and twelve (12) speed transmissions with provisions for a Mack Rear mount PTO most often are marked with a stamp on the rear most counter shaft cover. A stamp may include the letters P T O or simply a X as designation that the transmission is so equipped for a Mack style Rear mount PTO.
  5. The pump will only go on one way...however if the engine was turned over after the pump was removed it may be 180 degrees out of timing? some one correct me if im wrong but I suspect he pulled the pump, the engine turned over and he may have put it back on when the engine was out of time to the pump. For example the #1 cyl may be at TDC but its on the intake stoke instead of power stroke. I would think the engine spins over 2 times for ever 1 turn of the pump. To me it sounds like you need to pull the pump rotate the motor 1 turn, re-install it and check it again. Hope that makes scene...Or Find a guy that can explain this better than me LOL
  6. one of the best riding trucks I have been in was a CH and it was on camelback. the cab mounts just absorbed alot of the road bumps
  7. Simple and cheap..... just use the google map app on your phone and it tells you what route to take. you can avoid toll roads and all that neat stuff...
  8. and I dont think 4 degrees will make much difference just at idle or no load revving. we advanced the timing on a sled puller and it made no smoke at idle and reved out just fine
  9. Help us out a little more here... After you pulled the fuel pump off of the engine....Did the engine get turned over or was the truck moved around the shop while in gear?
  10. It should swap with no issues.
  11. no, the rear mount Mack PTO runs off engine speed only. At least that is how it works with the 6 and 12 speed mack transmissions
  12. I think what FJH is saying is that if the same pump you took off is put back on. the timing will not have changed and will be set correctly. If this is a different pump going back in then it needs to be timed to be 100% sure its correct.
  13. We pulled a pump off a 285 years ago to have it re calabrated for sled pulling and it went right back on without needing to be timed.
  14. I would still wonder if Mack truly gives the original XT file out?? . I would suspect Mack at mercy of the EPA would had revised further sales of the old 460XT flash to meet the EPA wishes. in doing so that would likely make the file less aggressive. I wonder if there is a revision history attached to the XT file. In doing so it may be possible to see what was changed in each revision. I know thats how we noted changes on the parts that I sold in the racing industry. A revision history could point to some clues to what may have changed from say a file released in 2002 vs a file that was released in 2017. I would bet that 2 different ECMs with 15 years of production separation would have had many programing revisions.
  15. I really liked the looks of the last DM with the RB styled hood. Even the DMM with the vertical headlight panels was a sharp all business looking truck
  16. Im not up on all these electronic Mack engines but I had heard years ago that the XT flash ( i think that was the one everyone wanted) was no longer being give out to dealers/customers because of the EPA or potential issues with the EPA. The few guys that I know that had gotten there hands on it loved what it did to wake up the engine. It was soon known that it was no longer availible and owners would refuse to let dealers touch the ECM if the truck was in for service. Im sure these days the first thing a dealer tech does is plug into it and possible update the ECM to the latest revision if it meets a possibility of fixing a issue ?
  17. paulmbo west Dundee. its the dump off rock rd
  18. he forgot to unlock the tail gate. when the box is almost all the way up the weight of the load goes over center of the trailer tandems and lifts the tractor
  19. Give him a break....he just thought it was a side dump. Here is a pic of his brother
  20. I would have to ask Ray what he gets bob tailing or dragging his empty flat bed. I do know a 300 mack with a mack 9 speed overdrive got me in the high 6's with a empty van trailer from Long island to Chicago. never did get good MPG with a 300 and direct 6 speed best I think was 5.8
  21. in the end violence is a society issue. you can take every gun from every person in the world and you know what...... 4 or 5 crazy people each year will still find a way to try a mass killing. This tragedy is very rare It mirrors a slaughter like ambush that we only hear of from old war stories. While this guy was a complete piece of shit the fact remains that there still will be more people just like him out there. A old friend of mine from Ireland said to me the other day that when he was growing up he had fear of walking the streets as the IRA could have planted a bomb anywhere. He came to America and that fear was gone. Sadly with all these crazies doing this crap he again has some of that fear again...
  22. yes if the air bag has a large leak such as yours the truck air pressure might fall below the level that holds the parking brake springs in. When that happens the brakes will slowly start to apply. most times you will notice it but some times not. when this happens the shoes heat up and breaking power is limited due to overheated shoes. you will also notice that the the engine is at idle that it will not hold up air pressue with the leak but when driving down the road the compressor may be able to keep up? It all depends on how the bags were plumbed and the size air lines to the bags and such
  23. The RB was the last of the R series to be produced. A very under rated tractor in my opinion. I saw many of them used Here in Chicago as tractors and straight trucks. lots of roofing company's and bulk haulers used them. As far as I know it had all the major options as a standard RD had. not sure why they chose the RB to end production.
  24. Barry sent it to me on Facebook
