  1. The first generation Superliners are on Cruiseliner chassis have axle mounted steering gear and the hood attaches to the radiator sides. Not an ideal place for the steering box but it works. FW
  2. I would check the disc for true or for rust spots. There are a couple types of disc brakes setups, the Tru-Stop adjusts differently from others. Not sure out of adjustment would cause chatter. FW
  3. I need this truck moved from CO 81623 to MA 01543. Step deck or lowbed needed, 21'of deck, appx. 18,000#. Any contacts appreciated. FW 3
  4. I can add attention to the roof vent, on the Brockway version of the Shellar cab the vent is centered and without the scoops, on the Mack version the vent is more to the front with the scoops and the back of the center ICC light is bobbed off. FW
  5. I figure with; 41" diameter tires (22" - 24.5") 5.08 ratio Quad direct @2100 RPM appx.65 MPH, @1600 RPM 49 MPH Quad over @2100 RPM appx.82 MPH, @1600 RPM 63 MPH Either way a good setup. A cummins will drop RPM's slower than a mack engine this makes for smooth shifting. FW
  6. One pipe and one air cleaner, perfect. Between this and any RW this would be my first choice. Nice rig.
  7. If the trucks were assembled in the USA the Mack Customer Center has the records. Web site? PH # is- 610 351 8999. I have a question, was there or is there an assembly plant in Australia? FW
  8. The 1st generation Superliners were built on Cruiseliner chassis. The air dryer is on the inside of the left frame rail just behind the cross member that is behind the cab. FW
  9. Very nice, all the right specs. Heard yesterday the guys from Hatti were around buying heavy component trucks and parts. FW
  10. With help and information from other local people, this is the story; In 2005 the 2nd owner suffered a heart attack while driving this truck and struck a huge tree head-on, sadly he was killed and the truck totaled. Little or nothing was salvaged and the truck scrapped. From the people I talked with knew this truck as the most powerful truck in the area at that time, and this owner was very proud of it. Its numbers were RS755LST 34308, I will post photos when I get them. Sadly, FW
  11. I have been through the line-up a few times in the past 3 years, nothing seems to move. Never talked to anyone and all is above average condition. FW
  12. DD The data came from Mack Trucks, LT series production, model designation/units per year of production. FW
  13. I can remember an owner operator running an RS with a dump trailer with big CAT power in the early 80'S here in Masssachusetts. As years passed I knew he moved out of the area. I was able to locate him (CA.)and I gave him a call and the story is, It is 1978, I wanted a big CAT 425 in a Mack frame, local dealer found one at a dealer in Bangor Maine? Flew my friend up to drive it back. 77 model RSL7** 1693ta, 13 speed, 44 camelback, spoke wheels, steel rails, all black. Had the cab painted burgundy and new fruehauf dump trailer. Ran it till 1989 sold trailer locally (I think it is still in service), put truck in storage for 5 years, about 7 miles from here (I didnt't know that), then sold it. He's not certain but thinks the 2nd owner died while driving it and rolled it and thinks the truck is still around in MA., and I will follow that lead. He claims it was one of couple of trucks with the 425 in them, and has plenty of photos and stories. He said, we put 70k in the trailer and it would do 80mph , my brother had an RLS with the V8, it did a little better than mine, but we couldn't catch the V12's Brocks. More to follow, FW
  14. That is an R series International, 50's to mid 60's Diamond T, FWD, Hendrickson and some others used them. FW
  15. Port of Providence, Scrap freighter, story to come at a later date. FW
  16. One of our members should grab this up. A Great Western set-up. I am interested in the trailer for 1/3 of the buy it now price, PM me. FW
  17. The Maxitorque two lever transmissions; Reverse + 5 speeds in main box, lo + hi in compound TRDXL107 Reverse + 5 speeds in main box, lo-lo + hi in compound TRDXL1071 (lo, lo-lo can only be used in first and reverse due to interlock in shift rail) Reverse + 5 speeds in main box. direct + hi in compound TRDXL1070 (hi can only be used in 5th due to interlock in shift rail) hi is overdrive and in the compound. Used in eariler trucks. 5 speeds main box, rev + lo + direct compound TRXL107 5 speeds main box, rev + lo-lo + direct compound TRXL1071 As stated in other posts this is the most common, and called the six speed low hole around here. FW
  18. Try little or no air in the springs. Check power divider, the inter-axle feature may be hanging up not allowing them to run independently. FW
  19. Put another transmission in. I hate to see failures like this, don't see a trace of gear lube anywhere. You come to right site FW
