  1. I am with Miro and Pawel on this, a harmonics issue. Put some weight on the frame to deaden it, that will tell if it is. FW
  2. Carefuly cut the flange off the stud with a torch and drive it toward the drum, or weld a 1/2 inch stud to it and 5# slide hammer. No splines on that type of stud. FW

  4. The early trucks have LH fenders like you have . At somepoint the left was changed to the style like the rightside. FW

  7. I have a 6-100 in a off road dump, and a few Hall Scotts the 6-110 is smaller than the HS400 1090ci engine. Proud owner of many Macks. FW

  9. I believe those lights are no longer avaiible from any supplier, and they do come up on Ebay at times. Compared to R model marker lights which are readly avaiable, that is a fair price. International, Reo, Maxim, White Western Star an others used them. Most used take offs are not in good condition. FW

  11. To answer your question the double framed B models use the same trunion stand as the single frame units because the second rail is on the inside and yes the crossmembers are shorter. On the triple frame B models the third rail is on the outside and the trunion stand is different from the single and double framed units, to allow for the wider frame. This should show up on the part number suffix (the P number P2, P3, etc.) On some L models they were available with 1/4 or 5/16 frames and the difference shows up in the trunion support and the radiator support because these are attached with reference to the outside of the frame. I find this interesting and I would like to know more about the part numbering system, I think when there is a L.H. and R.H. part the lower number is the right side, and the P numbers have to do with dimensions and fitment.   12. You have Mack brakes on there with cast shoes, they make a spring brake that will fit but very expensive. If you change to the later style spider (Rockwell brakes), you have to change the shoes. FW

  15. Separate the drag link from the ball stud. Remove the leather wrap,the cotter pin from the end, back out the screw plug.There are spacers,springs and cups in there (note the sequence when removing them). At assembly you can adjust the joint to spec. I have turned the ball stud 90 degrees at times to help with adjustment, do this with the knuckle removed. FW

  17. The Luberfiner filters are of by-pass design and are used in addition to the primary filtering systems on most engines, as with Cummins. There are two models the taller the 750, and the shorter one the 500. The early Mack 673 diesels used the 500 series only, oil from the pan was fed directly to the engine and the filter, with the filtered oil returning to the pan. cold oil or restricted elements would allow it to by-pas and no filtering would take place. The luberfiners on cummins and other engines gave them a long life. FW

  19. As you can see from the pictures the early RLs had the low hood, many people say they were never made that way. I never have seen a real one, does anyone know of a low hood that still exists? I was talking about this a few weeks ago with someone, interesting. FW
  20. Same engine used in the Ford 9000/9600 ag tractor. Valves in .015 hot, ex .018 hot, head bolts don't know. FW
