I cant speak for the bolt on ones!But! You can buy the mack style cartrage at Napa as well! Also not being an arse but the centramax was introduced on the 4 valve E6.The best thing since sliced bread for getting crap out of the oil ,in my opinion Iv'e seen em pluged solid with goo! Yet another good Idea thrown out the window by the Volvo people! If they didn't think of it its not a good idea! Its really to bad these guys didn't take a good look at what they inherited and examine the some of the good property's and ideas that were incorporated in it!

Agree check the air filter!Its likly an air issue possibly boost leak ,highly unlikly an injector issue

Do you have alot of blu smoke on startup?He may be right if not hes pulling your chain!The thing should sputter and slober for 5 minutes or so before cleaning up! if its worn out!

hasler brings up a good point on the back section of the trans! also Check to make sure the yoke bolt is tight as well these come loose from time to time!!

You should need no either to start !You need to check your fuel preasure at the pump its loosing prime sumwhere your transfer pump check valves or somthing look for any evidence of fuel leaks chect the plastic return to the head at the front of the engine the jumper between the heads ect!

Pull the 4 screws and have a look at the diphram its not that bigg of deal then you won't be guessing! Next you will need to check fuel preasure you need to tee into the system right at the fuel pump inlet you need 25 psi or better under fuel load!Your problem is fuel related as you have no excess smoke.

I agree with Herb, the smoke limit ( LDA) likly has a hole in it!The way to check it is to remove the line to where it goes on the manifold and suck on that line if it will not hold the vacuam you create with your mouth it has a hole in it and it needs replacing!Also you need to varify that the throtle is going to full fuel open! and the stop to fuel open.

From what I have read here you need to pull the rad and a=have it disassembled and cleaned at a rad shop!But you should test the fan hub before jumping to that conclusion .use the card board in front of the rad trick that Herb mentioned, a 4 inch hole cut in it right in front of the thermal spring! you will be able to hear the pitch change if it is working properly.

There should be a drain back valve on the fuel pump it will have a small 1/4 inch line going up to the head and the other goes to the fuel tank if you remove the top of that valve and check the spring you may find it broken! You may also have a failing fuel transfer pump or a perforated suction line to the tank!I would fill the filters with clean fuel the next time you try to start pumping takes for ever!

Another thing we did was to move that sensor to a welded in bung in the cold side pipe just after the tube comes out of the after cooler that aparently stoped the heat sinking of the sensor at stop lights.

If the check valve is OK it has to be the pump the check valves or somthing like that!Does the primary filter have a drain on the bottom do you have any fillters in line that have a glass bowl? dont trust them by pass them.If there is a plastic return line to the head the jumper between the heads can cause greif!

OK there should be some wires tied up some where for it one gos to the center and on one side of that switch when you find them!

Nope Jerry yours is on the money if you push it on a cold day you can hit 38 with a 460.that turbo will put out far more air than your engine can use but with out more fuel more air is useless!I have personaly pluged the by pass valve ,It will bang the boost gauge off the end of the gauge.ya don't want to go there. The waste gated turbo is designed to put no more than 33 psi into that year, FOR WHAT ever reason, These engineer types put a derate in there at 33 psi, As if more air would hurt the engine WHAT EVER!

Barry! we are having a problem with getting some after market retrofit dpf kits for 0ur customers with 88 to 93 trucks Apperantly donoldson has signed an excussive contract with Paccar here in BC to supply these to anyone who needs em !The huss out fit that Mack recomends is not reachable they seem to have droped off the face of the earth.

We have had problems with the waste gated turbo before the waste gate Maybe stuck open or not sealing properly!As 68 mentioned 33 psi boost is max before derate on those engines!

The valve set marks are on the flywheel !peer thru the hole at the bottom of the engine bell houseing look for valve set marks center them in that hole, in engine rotation firing order 153624 start on 1 valves overlapping on N0#6 set N0# 1, 16 intake, 24 exhast, 15 to 21 on the jake,move the flywheel to the next set of numbers in the firing order( 5 )valves will be overlaping on (2) set 5 and so on! pretty basic.
