  1. I have been studying their site. I really like the idea of the telma, wish I could see one in operation. I am just weighing the cost of each. I think in the end I would be happier with the telma. I will bring some experience to the table here! Take it for what it is worth! Pre and real early eteck there was An exhast brake Option called Stealth brake!!!! To install this unit we were required to remove valve covers and replace or add valve seals and replace valve springs to install these! Having said that the unit helped on engine braking a fair bit ! We however started having issues with turbos on these the exhaust gasses started over coming the shaft seals on the turbo on long downhill grades pushing the gasses into the base causing horrible blowby issues ! the fix was a special turbo with extra sealing rings on the shaft seal! if you plan on going this route. Don't say you weren't warned!!! Just saying! Telma I have nothing bad to say about this unit , other than the extra weight added they function great!
  2. Guys! just a foot note if Tech did not mention it earlier in the thread !! pay attention to the center section orientation as you remove it ! It can be bolted on upside down and you likely wont notice till you go to put the turbo on the drain tube will not fit!! You will be really pissed of at your self for not noticing! 🙄
  3. If the read light came on with the yellow eml its usually one of two to three sensors ! low oil pressure / hi temp / or sometimes low water !low water level is usually turned of as it can be a nuisance!
  4. another place to look ! If your wheels are steel one of your wheels may be cracked! If its the inter wheel diff it acts some what like as a posi-trac However ever a little more noticeable on dri ground !You can lock the inter axle out (MOST ) of the time, there is a switch on the dash to lock the inter axle out how ever not always some trucks were built with no lock out feature look for it on the dash!
  5. You may have the Mack diff with the mack power divider inter -axle inter diff lock they tend to pop and bang from time to time!
  6. mechanical pump on new motor ?? Time is of the essence! My opinion!
  7. Too little to late ! If these people had Half A brain And intended being in the heavy haul jass they would have derived a replacement for the titan before pulling it out of production ! These Guys Are poorly organized OR they JUST simply don't give a shit! In my mind The Later is in play here! AND OR BOTH!
  8. Remove the all bottom studs and Clean the threads put pipe sealant on them and re install em they are open to the the push tube area on the back side!

  9. Very lucky on your part! Liner orings was on my mind Just be aware it is very important to keep your antifreeze in good standing in these as in most diesel engines ! You still could have a cooler tube failure be well advised to pressure test before putting the pan on! IF you do not change the coolant please do so I would! If your pulling the pump most parts guys forget to order the gasket for the bypass tube on the top and the the lower pump rad gasket adapter ! Just saying!
  10. This question is important! That being said! All the above comments are true you should leave well enough alone and be happy! Your engine is reliable as is and will make you a big bag of money if you just work it! Its not a Race out there, its just Get the job Done, at the end of the day, they pay you to get the load from A to B! JOE H Made the right comment ! You could possible tweak the pump if its not VMAC Yes! The Big Question is However is it worth it!
  11. So there ya go! Tech has some evidence its doable! remove the broken pin. maybe lightly brake hone the roller bore while the pin is removed install the new guide pin and rinse the pan out , give it a try Not really to much to loose in my mind! Might go for ever like that!😉
  12. Yup agree with Paul a little Preasure will find a leak where Vacuam not so much! How ever changing things one a a time is sometimes all you can do!
  13. In My opinion Its worth a try if its going to cost you a roller and a guide pin and some time that's all you got to loose! if in deed the scratches are minor, Go for if it! If you get a year you pay your self .f it fails tomorrow OWELL You rolled the dice !! Flush the pan out and give it a go! I Have A hard time believing the cam is not damaged beyond a few scratches however veiwing the lifter damage!
  14. Around here where i Live Granite Mack in general Out pace most any other truck due to in my mind due to good sales team and decent service! Most other places in Canada , Unfortunately its the total opposite! And deserving so! As we are on an Island Semi captive audience proves to be helpful ! How ever it doesn't mean you can let your guard down you need to provide the best you can service! Regardless of the product you are selling!
  15. EDP checK for the fuse panel being greened out left hand kick panel pull fuese and relays one by one and check em! They were up graded to have a rubber boot cover check for a rubber surround!
  16. LiKE everything else on the thing! The Volvo Guys Now How to Charge for stuff!
  17. Bit of a big chore here for a shade tree guy how ever ! No you don't remove the head ! The pin will be a bear to get out but its usually doable! You can Re use the cam bushings they rarely fail YOU NEED TOOLS ! you need magnets to hold up the lifters to re /re the cam you need a press to get the gear off the cam You need heat to put the gear back on the cam and oven or a rose bud on the torch! the gear gets heated to 450 -475 deg plus to install I believe ! best to get your part numbers for the cam from the dealer there are different types as you can see by the list I provided!
  18. Yes you should and the pin is replaceable Chances are the cam is done for! PAI Offers kits for these.
