  1. Ok I’ll try both, and keep you posted. Thanks so much.
  2. Been foolin with it this evening bout an hour. Started quitting very often cranked back every time. Never lost power in cab even on solenoid in dash on key switch terminal. Is this the solenoid your calling accessory? Also it’s an electric governed mechanical pump. I read somewhere maybe check oil sending unit and while it was throwing this fit , if you will, I put voltage checker in oil sending unit end and checked 3 volts on one and 5 on the other and ground. And the truck hasn’t missed a beat yet. Any more ideas I’m game. Thank you for the reply earlier.
  3. Does anyone have any answers for e7-400 shutdown issues? Sometimes it runs fine sometimes it just dies but will crank right back without resetting key switch. Some times Jake brake works sometimes it don’t not sure if it’s got anything to do with it. Also it’s just sitting on my lot not driving it or anything just because of this issue. Good oil pressure not hot and plenty of coolant. The other day it wouldn’t crank either then all of a sudden it cranked when I let off the key, very weird. Any help is very appreciated. Oh yea sometimes the shutdown light is on and buzzer and sometimes not. The Jake clutch switch was unhooked when I bought truck on pedal and I hooked it up and it worked. Wandering if it was unhooked for a reason?😳
  4. Thanks for the reply. I've got it pulled out I'll probably tear it down this evening or in the morning. Maybe nothing else wrong just give it a good cleaning.? Replace gears.
  5. I have a '99 RD688s with s440 rears ,4.42 ratio. Friday I was loaded and heard some clucking in the drive train and then it just felt like the trans was about to lock up so I threw it in neutral and coasted to a good place dumped my load and got lowboy to haul it to my shop. It's the front rear. After taking the side plate off I could see teeth in the case so I pulled rear out of truck. Can anyone tell me what caused this? And does anyone have a diagram or anything of the breakdown that I could see? Thank you so much for any help.
  6. Mechanic listened to it today said he was pretty sure it was #4 piston maybe wrist pin or cap. Gonna get the pan off Monday and inspect. Least their givin rain this week.
  7. Thanks for the reply folks. Yeah we shut it down and wreckered it to the shop. They may have changed the oil to hide something but it has stayed clean all the while. I'll let you know what happens today after some checking. Really appreciate yall. This is a great site I've never posted on here but have always got a lot of useful info.
  8. Just bought this truck RD 688S 93 model dump with '90 model e7-350 I suppose because of the tag on the covers. Truck runs great good oil pressure well taken care of. The oil looks like it's brand new literally. We have hauled several loads with it in the last few days , all of a sudden today with a load on it starts knocking not all the time but off and on pretty loud. It still has good oil pressure ,maybe a little slower to start and seems to be more towards the top end. Oil level is still good and clean. No smoke. Can anybody give me some advice on what this might be?
